Steven Nzonzi is looking for a way out of his loan deal with Galatasaray after he was suspended indefinitely by the Turkish club, Sky Sports News understands.

Nzonzi was accused by manager Fatih Terim of being disrespectful in a training session last month and has not played for the club since. However, a source close to the player has told us the World Cup winner disputes Galatasaray’s version of events describing his behaviour as exemplary.

The player signed on a season long loan from Roma in the summer and has a contract in the Italian capital until 2022. Sky Sports News understands that if an amicable solution is found between both clubs then the midfielder would welcome a return to the Premier League.

Okay, he is 31, but short term loan would give us something different in midfield
Good to see that somebody is thinking and looking for player openings that could work for us in this window.

If a loan is the most that we can hope for then we could throw a wild speculative swing at Oliver Skipp from Tottenham.

And the great thing is he's played for Stoke so he should be on our scouting database!

Jordan Ibe is looking to move on from Bournemouth for regular game time.

If we could get him at a reduced price he would be a gamble worth taking.

You don't sign for Burnley to play more game time.

Have a feeling that we will sign Glenn Murray. No links just a feeling. Over 30, immobile, good character

Good shout - maybe you and I should get in touch with Rigg and see if there are any "school/work experience" places available with him :D

The Times, on-line, today:

Burnley
What do they need? Creative options.
Who do they want — and who will they get? The Bristol City winger Niclas Eliasson is a target.

*********************

The Time, print edition, today:

Burnley
What do they need? Creative options.
Who do they want — and who will they get? The Charlton winger Niclas Elliasson is a target.

***********************

What's this all about? Are there two players, Eliasson at Bristol City and Elliason (two "Ls") at Charlton? Has "Eliason" already been transferred once from Bristol to Charlton - or the other way round - overnight?

I think Charlton and Bristol City have both already been mentioned on here - not checked back to see what players were named.

********************

The Times has got a full article on all 20 clubs. Burnley's piece - above - is the shortest of all of them. That's OK, we like to do our transfer business so quietly ;)

The good news is that The Times includes Burnley in their "middle of the road" section in their article. The "relegation battle clubs are: West Ham, Villa, Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich.

The managers of all of the "relegation battle' clubs have all stated that they are actively looking to bring in players and strengthen their squads in the January window. The problem with the "middle of the road" is that you are very likely to get run over unless you are very careful.

Bloody hell Forest spoilt months worth of planned moaning for when we signed Murray (despite zero links with him).

If we had signed him myself and the many wouldn’t be renewing next season.

The person(s) responsible for us only getting 6 pts in 8 games, with 4 very tough games to come, is mainly whoever failed to get a new starter cm or proper nr 10 player in the last 3 windows.

We have them IMO, we just don't use them, unfortunately. As suggested, McNeil, Jayrod and Vydra could all probably do a decnt job in that role, but it's just not how we are set up to play.

Interesting the ones posting the most on the transfer threads are the ones who keep telling us they aren’t bothering next season.

Bristol City fans on Twitter with tongue in cheek comments saying he’s rubbish, whilst others stating that he’s actually their best attacking player and his crossing ability is actually brilliant. Personally I know nothing of him but you can only go off what you hear in this situation and the Bristol fans seem to love him and definitely don’t want him to leave .

I wonder if last season put pay to transition, for a while at least. The poor run, ended with us going back to basics, when I wonder if the intention was to adapt out style of play a little (or at least bring another string to our bow).

We are far too one dimensional at the moment - and even the basics are a struggle.

Cheers Frank, makes sense.

Oddly on the basis of that article, he’s actually more likely to start for us in the Premier League than for Bristol City in the Championship due to our insistence on 442/2 wingers.

If it also meant that the many would stop posting on here as well it would look like a good signing all round.

The amount of break downs people are having about players that aren’t even being linked to is incredible.

Gabriel barbosa is being let go by inter, the player wants to come to England, and would be available for a cut price deal. This is the type of player we should be targeting. Young, had potential but lost his way a bit and is significantly better than what we have.

I am sure I saw something before Xmas about West Ham being after him and there was a price tag of 18million. I am not sure we could afford his wages though, on about 80k per week over there.

Inter want rid, I'm sure they could subsidise some of his wages. Even a cheeky loan bid.

Nosebleeds once past Stoke. So is Brownhill a creative type ? Or a younger workhorse ? Good engine, keeps the shape etc

I think it's time someone at the club pressed the panic button. We need new blood, pretty much all over the field and it really can't wait and because it's January people will be looking to have our panties down somewhat. Well suck it up and let them. Our PL status is on the line and is ebbing away fast and whether it's permanent signings or sensible loans, SD (and Rigg and Garlick) HAS to bring people in who will actually go into our staring team or at least get serious game time from the bench and his (commendable) loyalty to a number of the "old guard" has to stop!

It seems the club can do little right. We appear to have bid for a player who, you'd imagine, could do a job for us. Isn't that something to be happy about?
Problem is I doubt £7million would buy a reasonable championship player.

Spot on IMO Dark Cloud. Present squad is 21 not including Wells or McNeill (he is <21) and 3 keepers means we have room for 4 players and boy do we need 3 or 4 new faces who can slot straight in to the 11 for the next 16 games-but I don't expect much knowing our finances

Problem is I doubt £7million would buy a reasonable championship player.
Then we offer more! For years I've towed the party line and I as much as anyone have been a supporter of our sound, sensible, frugal fiscal approach, especially as it has given us a real degree of success on and off the field. BUT I'm now seeing that we've probably over egged it and refusing to splash a little more cash in the last 2 or 3 windows and keeping faith with the stalwarts who have admittedly done well for us, is starting to unravel. We can no longer look to buy players "for the future" or to bolster our bench waiting for somebody to get hurt. We need players for the starting XI NOW, starting with CM and right back. Cork has absolutely gone and we have to remember that Westwood was never bought as a first choice starter. He was originally back up for Defour and didn't play many games initially, until Defour became permanently sidelined and then he's been virtually ever present and generally done ok, but clearly we need better! The thing is, who's going to loan us decent players with our track record with loanees, as there will just be an assumption they'll sit around watching every game and then slope off back to where they came from. We'll be sent on our bike by most clubs. Cheslea for one! We really haven't helped ourselves in that respect tbh.

This would be a great start to the total overhaul of our midfield required. Get it done.

Ideally, if we really want this chap, then we meet their valuation, and quickly.
Unless this is just a speculative sort of bid...

I have not seen much of him, and comes across as a similar player to Hendrick. Got a good shot in his locker

Agreed, PROVIDING SD intends to actually play him in his starting teams and isn't going to fanny about spending 3 or 4 months getting him bedded in! Also, it's now public knowledge that there may be a deal to be done and people with far more clout than us (pretty much everybody!) may well be considering blowing us away.

I think buying players to sit on the bench, or as back up, would be even more frustrating than buying nobody.

I noticed that. If he was dropped from the team you would still expect to see him on the bench.

So is this our much needed first of many new signings?
