Dean Smith & Drinkwater
See Drinkwater straight in the Villa team after two days only training. Smith has already made him feel good by publicly saying he has already had an impact around the club in training
Did it not take SD three weeks before he played him in the U-23
"Dyche-fit" my arse. This saying is just a way out of not playing people. Be interesting to see what DD does today but the first step in management of motivating, and giving someone a feeling of worth has already been achieved

This is going to be interesting ,City v Villa,if Drinkwater turns it on this message board will go into meltdown and probably be offline fotever

Never mind this message board, Mike Garlick will be coughing up his Sunday dinner right now.
Re: Dean Smith & Drinkwater
Dyche fit is a convenient excuse to save himself from having to drop any of his favourites. Picking a clearly injured Ashley Barnes to start ahead of Jay says it all.

..and it cost us in excess £1.1 million in wages by my calculation to keep him "not Dyche-fit). This after DD came back from a pre-season with Chelsea. DD will be no fitter now than in August probably as he only played 150 minutes with us

Re: Dean Smith & Drinkwater
Can’t actually remember Duche ever using the term Dyche fit.
It’s all his super fans on here that trot that excuse out, not him.
Infuriating though, not considered worthy of. A few minutes here and there for us......straight in for Villa.

Re: Dean Smith & Drinkwater
Dyche said we couldn’t get him enough game time.
Translate as, he was a prick doing what he did so I’m not dropping corky and Westwood for him.
You can see where he’s coming from but boy did we need to freshen it up yet he just sat on the bench

Re: Dean Smith & Drinkwater
There are only two reasons why people are moaning about Drinkwater not getting game time.
1. They have watched him in the under 23s and seen him bossing the game and being far too good to leave out.
2. They are cross that Burnley are not playing very well and assume that the manager is no use and is doing everything wrong.
How successful does a manager have to be to get some credit in the bank? Dyche has obviously not done enough so far.

Two league starts this season and both against City, who have arguably the best midfield in the division.
Re: Dean Smith & Drinkwater
So apart from his off field issue, do you not think DD had enough in the bank given what hes achieved to assume we would play him and give him time to settle in. Again, this SD love in...you do realise, hes not always right. And on this one, he is so clearly wrong.

Is the strength of your argument that DD once played in a side that won the league and that's all? Or have you seen him play recently?ewanrob wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 4:19 pmSo apart from his off field issue, do you not think DD had enough in the bank given what hes achieved to assume we would play him and give him time to settle in. If it's as clear as that that Drinkwater should have been playing for Burnley, then when should he have been brought into the side, who should he have replaced, what formation should we have used, and how many more points do you think Burnley would have now?

Re: Dean Smith & Drinkwater
I thought Dyche had 2 options with Drinkwater, either bin him off back to the Bridge straight after the nightclub fracas, or keep him to get him fit and play him asap.
Doing neither wasn't an option.

Re: Dean Smith & Drinkwater
There’s no such thing as “Dyche fit”
The number of goals we concede in the 45th and 90th minutes of games puts paid to that myth.

He was pretty **** for Man City’s goal just then.
Very “Cork-esque” - can’t run and can’t tackle.

Re: Dean Smith & Drinkwater
Your the one using that season in isolation not me, during his 4 or 5 seasons at Leicester he was one of their standout players and resulted in his transfer to Chelsea. Not his fault the new manager didnt fancy him. Whether he plays well today or not his manager has shown faith in him and played him.Not a bad idea eh!dsr wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 4:30 pmIs the strength of your argument that DD once played in a side that won the league and that's all? Maybe ask our illustrious leader why he bought him, to replace who, and what's his formation with him in the team

More like Drinkwhiskey.
Re: Dean Smith & Drinkwater
So that's one mistake and he's written off. Let's just stick with Cork and Westwood forever and ever.
