Stuart Webber

I think their recruitment, with the exception of Pukki, has been okay. Nothing truly special. Their decision to mainly go with what they had this season and give the chance to the players that got them promoted, instead of spending a fortune, was a good one though.

What really benefitted them is that some really good youngsters came through their ranks at the same time, including Todd Cantwell, Max Arrons, Jamal Lewis, Ben Godfrey, Josh Murphy and James Maddison.

When you get a crop of young players like that entering your first team, at little to no cost, it tends to make the job of recruitment a lot easier. Those players were already at the club when Webber arrived in 2017.

So maybe their recent success owes more to the contributions made by Ricky Martin, Lee Darnborough ( doubtful, unless his emails have improved ) and Tony Spearing who left at the same time Webber arrived.
Never heard of him!

Sounds like DD had another great game.

Can’t believe he didn’t get more game time for us!

Yes they look slightly better than us perhaps, as the table would also suggest. I wasn’t comparing them to us though, I was stating how bad the game has been.

Last minute twist. 1-0.

The top teams haven’t done well this weekend. Here’s hoping for more of the same tomorrow.

Newcastle win it at the death against a Chelsea team that has been dishing out points to lower sides all season.

How’s it a bad day for the Clarets? Pretty good set of results for me and certainly what I’d have taken at the beginning of the day.

Puts our 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in perspective, Newcastle restricted Chelsea chances despite possession deficit.

No it doesn’t.

Southampton lost to Leicester 9 nil and then beat them in the return game. Perspective is not driven by results against the same team.

Our 1 - 0 win against Newcastle when they didn’t have a shot on target puts that into perspective...if you like.

Anyone can beat anyone (bar Liverpool this season it seems) in the premier league as was proven by Norwich beating Man City.

Only good result for us was Bournemouth loss. Villa delighted with point. Norwich win gives them hope. Big win against the odds for Newcastle. Saints lost but they are fine. West Ham and Watford won’t be unhappy with a point apiece. Overall a bad day imo. Unless of course we win tomorrow!!!

Nonsense. Villa Brighton is a great result as 1 point is lost between them and neither are safe. Saints are not safe just cos they have had a bit of form and lost. Great result. Neither West Ham nor Watford won winnable home games. Only bad result is Newcastle.

So Spurs home is a winnable game ? Leicester home should be a stroll in the park lol

Considering the opposing form of both sides, yes.

Suppose it depends if you’re glass half full or empty. I thought today’s results were generally good. Would have preferred a Brighton win but a draw keeps them down there and Villa don’t gain much.

We have given chelsea their easiest 6 points of the season, an absolute stroll for them in both games, same with Spurs and Man United...
In fact all top 5 clubs including Sheffield United have strolled their way to points v us, with no real challenge.
We really do roll over far too often.

Given they don’t have a proper centre forward and we beat them last season at home not to mention they have won 2 away games all season, I’d say it was a winnable game for a team second in the premier league form table.

I reckon (whatever the stats say) that we're the third worst team right now.

If something doesn't change. we're down. I've thought that since sat in the away end at Spurs.

Generous you think we’re only the 3rd worst team on current form.....

Adama Traore, what an absolute machine he is. Shows the value of a wide man with serious pace and power - no fullback is dealing with him.

Steve Cook at Bournemouth.
Why would you make that decision?

Steve Davis made a similar one for us on Boxing Day at Bury years ago.

Chances are you end up up worse off x2

That John Stones and defending don't blend well!

If he gets in the England team ahead of all the other English centre backs in the prem, then Southgate needs shooting.
