Re: Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lestershiity
Maybe if Dyche prioritised pace and technical ability over being a “good lad” when it comes to transfers, we’d be able to move the ball a bit quicker.
Who am I kidding, this club got into Europe and nearly signed Sam Clucas ffs

Re: Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lestershiity
What frustrates me is when Hendrick has the ball in clear space on the right he holds up play instead of attacking the penalty area - get in the box Jeff... take a shot Jeff... win a pen Jeff...
Re: Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lestershiity
Cork is outstanding at giving a thumbs up after he’s inevitably lost the ball.

Despite all the negativity here, we were not that bad. Worked hard, but once again a mistake was our downfall.
That said we are getting the ball forward. Fingers crossed for second half.

My problem isn’t the no call on Cork, it’s the call on Wood. Show some GD consistency!

Getting nothing today off this ref. We have looked so much better this half and if thats how we play until the end of the season then we will be fine. Still need a new cm though.

Re: Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lestershiity
I have a cunning plan. What we need to do is float the ball really slowly towards Wood more. That ought to work, they won’t see that coming.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lestershiity
We need a spark from somewhere...desperately, and my only concern is that unlike when we had the opportunity to turn to Heaton and McNeil (and to a lesser extent Barnes?) the last time we were in freefall, there is absolutely no-one, I fear, barring a big signing, that we have available who will have the same affect. Dyche`s hand, without doubt, was forced after the Everton Boxing Day defeat last season and he had to make changes. I feel Dyche`s stubbornness (the very good, the really bad and the now downright ugly during his successful tenure), this time, will see us struggle to avoid being relegated. I truly hope I am wrong.

We haven’t played that badly first half, apart from the mistake for their goal.we’re just missing that final ball!

Re: Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lestershiity
Blatant dive by Maddison yet he wins a FK,thankfully comes to nothing.
We've done ok for the most part, but once again sloppiness have proven costly.
If you want to be positive we've managed 2 shots on target according to the stats, and McNeil looks up for it.and he's demanding the ball which is good to see.
If you want to be critical this is a damning stat though.
Burnley have now failed to score a first-half goal in 11 successive Premier League games, the longest run by any team in the competition since the Clarets themselves went 12 matches without doing so between February and May 2015 (12).
And in that season we ended up going down,we need to find goals from somewhere and quick.

Won the ball back in some good areas, but our passing is just so poor and frustrating to watch it never feels like we'll create a chance. Do we practice passing?

Mee didn't cover himself in glory with the defending for the goal way to square and slow ,past it for me time for Gibson before it's too late

Needs a change of system way too rigid, Hendrick offers zero on the right ,like playing with 10 men

They're showing the replay of the Cork incident and it looks like a foul to me, particularly as the ref blew for the Schmeichel and Evans non fouls

Put McNeil on right against Fuchs and just give him the ball at every opportunity. Even Jeff has been skinning him. Got to get to the byline

If Souness says it’s a foul it’s a foul. The other way it would be given as a foul. Corrupt officials again. Our corner is a free kick on the keeper when he isn’t touched and yet they can’t disallow for a foul. It stinks.

I’m trying but it’s hard at mo. The half time replays looks like a foul on cork though . Keane disagrees but always cheers me up to see how pundits shuffle nervously when Roy speaks .

Re: Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lestershiity
Looks like I'm in the minority, but I don't think we have been that bad. Although my expectations have dipped recently.
We were giving as good as we got earl on and our passing looked a bit crisper. More importantly, we actually look like we have a bit of fight in us today.
I don't think it was a foul on Cork, but he was at fault for dwelling on the ball. Some of the refs other calls have been very dubious, like the foul on Wood, the foul against Mc Neil and maybe the foul against their keeper early on.
Our heads haven't dropped as much after the goal, but we do look very ponderous and we are still making mistakes. The link up play between Wood and Jay is bordering on non existent. That is a big part of what makes the Wood and Barnes pairing so effective. At the moment they look like they are playing for different teams which is hurting us.
A small step up in terms of what we have been like recently. We need to step it up though and be aware of them. They are rapid on the break and we don't have the legs to match them, especially playing so far up the pitch.

11 successive games without a first half goal.
The longest in PL history since
Burnley went 12 consecutive games without scoring a first half goal in 2015.
But ya know.
