Best 45 minutes of the season
Leicester are a top side, the second 45 from us was the pure essence of Burnley - endeavour, commitment, quick in the tackle and some good play when we could. Credit to the lads, showed huge commitment in difficult circumstances.
Not very often we come from a goal down to win, delighted for Westwood to get the winner and Pope back to his best

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
I honestly thought we’d forgotten our identity, was good to see the proper Burnley today

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
Admittedly, I didn't expect owt today and our rivals down
at the bottom will have expected us to lose as well.
That's a big body-blow to them, make no mistake.

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
Didn't think the first 45 was too bad either. Thought we were very unlucky to go in 0-1. But we certainly stepped it up second half, and moments like the penalty save help with that momentum

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
I said as soon as we went ahead there’s no way we will lose. This is how we train every week. Backs to the wall. We will have been in our element.
Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
GL can't spell.
Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
Credit to the manager to day for lifting the team after a bad run and being a goal down at half time. Team.but in a great shift.
Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
Just a bit of perspective
They missed a pen (great save from Pope)
Pope then made a great save from Praet or Ricardo I think
Had either of those two chances gone in I doubt we would have come back
But we made the best of those two moments and certainly deserved a point if not three with a much better 2nd half performance
This result gives us some momentum but there are clearly areas of the pitch (none more so than centre mid) where we need an urgent upgrade this window

And for a bit more perspective, their goal shouldn't have stood as it was a clear foul on Cork.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 5:31 pmJust a bit of perspective

Enjoyed that.Back to what we do best and the atmosphere was superb.I see we are 5 points above the Relegation zone but look the other way and it’s just 7 points of Europa spot UTC.

It was refreshing to watch us play football again.

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
Does anybody think Leicester tried some mind games before the second half?
It took them an age to come out after we & the ref came out, then only 6 came out before another 3 then the final 2.
They need to rethink that tactic

A million miles away from anything since we’ve seen since we beat West Ham. Superb stuff.

If we play like that at Old Trafford we stand a chance, Wood & Rodriguez combo can only improve

I thought he was their best player and he didn’t go down like a stone every time someone went near him. Like him a lot.

I actually thought it was the reverse and it was us showing a ‘fk it we are up for this’ attitude.

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
I would have thought that too but we came out with the ref and one of the linesmen so assumed the ref must have pressed the bell to signal it was time.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 6:14 pmI actually thought it was the reverse and it was us showing a ‘fk it we are up for this’ attitude.
The other linesman came out with Leicester

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
There was plenty of hoofing in that game.
Just as there’s been plenty of good football in the games we’ve lost recently.

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
Not the best defender in the world no but if we had him we would surely use him as a winger. Very tricky and can't half pass a ball. My man of the match from Leicester yesterday.

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
Just this. Yes there was still some long ball in the game and that is all part of it but yesterday, second half especially, we actually played football and it worked. Still some work to be done (one swallow and all that) but this goes to show that if we don't play with that 'scared' football that sometimes hampers our game we can compete. Leicester to be fair seemed lacking in confidence but they are still pretty awesome going forward with the speed on the break. Vardy's penalty was awfully poor but full credit to Pope, without his contribution they could have been out of sight long before our winner.
As Dyche always says (a bit too often) we are still a work in progress. Good confidence booster before the United match though. If we can get our 'usual' draw at Old Trafford it will have been a good couple of games. And then there is our nemesis, the cheating Gooners, we have to beat them sometime and they are pretty sh!te this season; just maybe???

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
9 points from our last 7 games.... Sean Dyche makes a very good point in his post match interview...
15 games to go... that makes 19 more points if we keep up that average... giving us 46 points for the season.
OK that is a simplistic view, but it is also a realistic view looking at our remaining fixtures...
We can lose 8 games win 6 and draw 1 ... nowt different to the rest of the season tbh.
Get behind the lads ffs all you doom mongers

Re: Best 45 minutes of the season
It was so good to see Pope back to his best! Great confidence booster for him and the rest of the team! And saving a penalty from Vardy of all people. Can't stand him. Made it so much sweeter! The Ref did all he could to help Leicester get the 3 points all decisions going their way and how slow was he to blow the final whistle?
