Pre match superstitions
Anyone got any?
I had one for going through turnstile 47. To the point i was convinced we wouldn’t win if I didn’t.
Recently forgot to make a point of doing it. Yesterday got to the front of 45 and remembered my old superstition. And went to the back of a queue at 47.
The weird things we do that we think actually has an effect

Re: Pre match superstitions
My wife wouldn't let me go in the club shop BEFORE the game yesterday. Told me we always lose if I do.
Cue an after match visit when I purchased a couple of half price goalie tops. Had to after "The Pope" had made such a wonderful save

Similar. My old boss from work. Whenever we sit together we lose. Which is a pain as we like going to away games together and his lads mates with my nephew. But he’s banned from sitting with us. As he did for the recent games. Yesterday he wasn’t near.

Re: Pre match superstitions
Always walk the same way to the ground and must go through the club shop before going through turnstile 47 to the James Hargreaves upper.

Chips and curry from the fan zone followed by a Bene and hot on the ground and a Bovril before ķick off.
Re: Pre match superstitions
Now you may think the new coat brought the luck but it was the actual event of buying the coat. I think you may need to get a new one every week!!Local cricketer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 8:41 pmI bought a new coat last week, wore it yesterday and we won so it gets another outing on saturday

Re: Pre match superstitions
I bought a new coat this time last year and every time I've tried to wear it we've lost and I have to revert to my old one...and then we win...like yesterday. I keep thinking my new coat will eventually break it's duck, but it never does!!! I even tried it at The Tottenham Stadium before Christmas and look how that turned out!!!Local cricketer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 8:41 pmI bought a new coat last week, wore it yesterday and we won so it gets another outing on saturday

Re: Pre match superstitions
I didn't come on here before the second half on Sunday and we won - that's the new thing !
I'd need 5 pages to list the rest of the crazy irrational things I've believed have had an impact on our results from the other side of the world though !!!

Sean D. always pushes his left fist into his chops just before the match, - is that one of those superstitions ?

I got my hair cut this weekend. My barber must think I'm mental after booking another appointment for Wednesday.

I always flick the v’s at the Deadwood signs as I pass on the M65.
I also change my route on the way into the ground if we have lost the previous game.

I always walk the same way to the ground. I’ve also gone back to an old scarf which seems to bring better results than a new one.

Reverted to the wooly claret hat again on Sunday. First wore it regularly in the Coyle and Wembley season of 2009 and kept it on, uncomfortably, throughout the whole of the final on a very warm day. Badge on the front is out of date but so am I.

Re: Pre match superstitions
I think my Peppered Steak pie was a factor. It had been in the oven for about 2 weeks and so overdone I darn't drop it for fear of cracking the concrete and having to evacuate the JH stand.
I steadfastly devoured it despite the pain of second degree burns to my hands, lips and throat thus allowing the crowd to remain and get behind the lads!

Living a couple of hours away, I frequently watch the matches on TV at home and whenever I go to the loo, we score. I miss every bl**dy goal. Sometimes I even miss the replays.

Chewing gum. Forgot to take some for the last two matches that I went on and we lost both. I promise I'll remember for the next one.

Always have to have my first cup of coffee in my Turf Moor mug. After 3 successive losses the wife has to use it - last week after the Chelsea game she used it to make gravy on Sunday and then normal service was resumed !!

I'm convinced that if someone says "Oh yeah, we'll definitely win on Saturday/Tuesday/Whenever",then they curse it and we lose, not just Burnley but any team, seen it happen to England too.

If I’m not at the game, I have to wait for the game to have finished, because of I check the result on the radio, website or a stream Burnley always seem to concede
