Dissapointed with the whole performance there. Looked like a decent side on paper, but just never got it together.

In all fairness we should have been well buried before they score the 1st. But you change 3 out of the back 5 and you tend to lose fluidity. How Long gets in that 11 day ahead of Gibson is truly baffling imo

Lowton 6
Tarks 8 thank god for Tarks
Long 3 WOW
Pieters 5 i have generously added one for the goal
Cork 5
Westwood 5
Lennon 6 busy, lively, effort but zero goal threat
Brady 7 busy, lively, played it quick, couple of chances, think we do need more end product though
Wood 6 not much to go off
Jay 5 not much to go off, should have scored

Vydra 4 hmmm
Jeff 7 positive lifted it for a while

Hart 5 suspect for the 2nd, flapped at a few
Lowton 5
Tarkowski 8 bailed out Long and Peiters more than once with goal saving tackles/blocks
Long 4 awful, can tell he hasnt played in a while. Itd like he had been thrust straight in from league 2
Pieters 5 as above, but a goal, and a great pass for Brady
Lennon 6 looked to be positive
Cork 5
Westwood 5
Brady 5 a couple of half chances, 1 good ball in, but creates little and doesnt offer much
Rodriguez 6 missed a sitter
Wood 5 cant recall anything if note

Hendrick 5
Vydra 5

Thankfully it wasnt a battering by the 4 or 5 Norwich would have thoroughly deserved.
They created half a dozen "golden chances" but their finisher was on the bench thankfully.
No complaints, they wanted it more, played better, created more and deserve to go through.
Good luck to them

Our 1 game cup run is over for another season.
Safe to say "our strong bench" isn't actually that strong and that's the reason they are there.

Is it the reason SD doesnt rotate often, or is today's result, a result of the lack of minutes the squad get through a reluctance to totate/use subs.

No one who attended can really complain, it's happened for half a dozen years now.

Hart. 5. Failure to command his area
Lowton 5. Offered nothing going forward
Tarks 8. Clearly our best player, but was he meant to be organizing the defence?
Long 5. Unsurprisingly, rusty
Pieter's 5. I know a peach of a goal but very poor defensive work
Lennon 5. Looked like a defensive minded midfielder
Cork 5. Huff and puff
Westwood 6. Some bright spots
Brady 4. Very poor
J Rod 5. Ineffective
Wood 5. Ineffective

Hendrick 6. Added some energy
Vydra 4. Some posters think he is the answer. If so I would like to know what the question is

I broke a golden rule of mine and attended a cup game under Dyche. Never again. Treated like a pre season friendly. It was very poor and demonstrated squad weakness.

Hart 5
Lowton 5
Long 4
Tarkowski 7
Pieters 6
Lennon 5 flatters to deceive ‘ described as a waste of space’ by radio pundit after game. Hard to disagree too much. No end product.
Cork 5
Westwood 6
Brady 4 very poor. Don’t enjoy watching him any more.
Jay Rod 4 anonymous
Wood 5

Subs:
Hendrick 5 looked like a barrier in pinball and a rabbit in headlights if near the goal
Vydra 4 can’t see him cutting it in the PL based on this.

McNeil looked very good when he came on.

Judging by the comments and the marks then thank goodness I didn’t see the game. Hopefully no injuries and looking forward to crushing Arsenal

Almost everyone gave McNeil relatively low marks compared to his team mates against Man Utd.

It just goes to show that we are a one man team. Without him & possibly Mee when he has a mistake free game, we have very little to work with.

We are the complete opposite to being a one man team.

I'd rather see a cardboard cut out of Gibson in that back four than Kevin Long :D

Anyway he should have been played up front

Hart 6 not given any chance with the goals
Lowton 6 had a tricky opponent
Peiters 4 left too much space
Long 5 struggled but whys he on the left?
Tarks 7 solid enough
Lennon 7 bright and looked to get forwards
Cork 5 shouldn't really have started but with no cover in midfield other than Hendrick who also deserved a rest what can you do
Westwood 6 - did ok
Brady 4 - looked ok ish first half but totally whisked responsibility in the 2nd
Wood 6 a standard performance but not sure why we took him off
JayRod 6 should have scored early on

Hendrick 6 - started brightly buy faded quickly as the game slipped away
Vydra 4 - standard Vydra performance
McNeill 6 - on too late

Dyche 5 - subs should have been quicker and should have pulled Brady instead of Wood. Or pushed all 3 on at same time

Or the largely fantastic defensive duo of Mee and Tarks.

Hart 5 poor performance by JH. Too late now but BPF should be playing in these games
Lowton 6 average at best. No pace and gets caught the wrong side too often
Tarkowski 9 absolutely immense and the score line would have been much worse than that without him
Long 3 why is this lad still here. He’s obviously not good enough so let him go
Pieters 5 (+1 for goal) his positional play is woeful but scored another decent goal
Lennon 6 tried his best but his best isn’t good enough
Cork 6 average performance
Westwood 7 not bad effort
Brady 3 if I could score him lower I would. This lad has flattered to deceive for too long now. His positional play is woeful and left the left side open constantly. Move him on
Wood 6 never in the game
Rodriguez 6 should have scored

Vydra 3 sell him now. He doesn’t want to play for us. My gran could have put a better shift in than him and she’s been dead 5 years. Move him on
Hendrick 7 did pretty well and tried to effect the game

Given the way Vydra plays and yesterday he was awful but did set them up for at least 3 breakwaways, why are we letting Wells go. Should either Wood or Rodders get injured we will be in big trouble. Apart from Vydra (and Long) who could play up front?

We've successfully completed 2 out of 3 objectives for the season now. Out of the EFL Cup early - tick. Out of the FA Cup early - tick. 17th in the PL - very nearly there with that too.

Well done to all concerned.

I am to assume those faces mean you disagree with my comments.

If so, could I ask why?

Since you are keen to play the game - I’ll entertain you with an answer.
Yes I disagree with you that our objectives at the start of the season were to finish 17th and get knocked out of the cups early.

Do you think that Dyche, the players and the board were fuming when we beat Peterborough ?
Do you think JayRod missed that sitter from 8 yards on purpose ?
How good is Tarks deliberately hitting the bar ?
Do you think the board are fuming that we are in 13th place and not 17th ?

Which of our 2 viewpoints do you think sounds bats-hit crazy ?

Just interested to read different view. Not playing a game or looking to be entertained. Odd and defensive comment.

I remarked yesterday just how different the game was compared to Norwich at home in the league. In September, we started so aggressively and pressed so intently we didn't let Norwich out of their half until we were 2-0 up. Yesterday, they were in on goal within 10 seconds. The difference in which we approached the two games was absolutely stark. Chalk and cheese.

Then take Dyche's comments after the game about how he'll reflect on the cup exit. They are available to read on this website.

So no, I don't think players are missing chances on purpose. What a strange, overly dramatic comment. Try and reply to what I say, and not what you want to think I say. What I do think, and I believe the evidence on balance backs this up, is that the Club just aren't bothered about progressing into the latter rounds of the cup, and would treat such an exploit as merely a distraction from finishing 17th in the league (i.e. staying up). The overall objective is to stay up, and everything else is an insignificance.
