BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Wells has obviously worked hard at QPR and appears to have got his career back on track. He will be looking for a two and a half year deal and seems open to a move to any Championship club. Looks like the highest bidder will secure his signature.
Good luck to the lad.

Nods, QPR would be hard pressed to cover his wages, never mind put a respectable cash bid on the table for him. Over the last three seasons their incomings have been limited to loans, free transfers and a couple of small fee players.Down_Rover wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 11:33 amLooks to me that we recalled Wells simply because QPR cannot pay a fee for him

They have managed to raise some cash with players sales in the last two windows, but I suspect a big chunk of that will have gone towards paying their running costs.
Anything over a couple of million would probably stretch them to breaking point and Wells is currently worth a lot more than that.

More like us to sign Ronald O'Vieira.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
QPR were never going to be able to afford Wells.
This is the club that has already broken FFP. The club who gave Joey Barton a 4 year deal on £75k a week without a relegation clause...so pretty nailed on they didn’t bother with similar clauses for any other players.
This is also the club who under Warnock and Redknapp had managers who shall we say were a little unconventional in the way they signed players (anyone who attended the Joey Barton Q & A will know what he said about Colin)
They are one of many financially basket case clubs in the Championship - luckily for us there are other clubs out there who want Wells so we should be ok to get a decent fee or use him in a player swap - and i think that’s what will happen this week.

Ronaldo Vieira - A quality goal scoring wide/forward player, and that elusive box to box central midfielder all rolled into one. Just what we've been looking for! I bet we sign him, the board would surely snap two players up for the price of onewilliamjblazkowicz wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 8:50 amExcerpt from David Ornstein article on The Athletic re Sampdoria central midfielder Ronaldo Vieira:
Another club monitoring Vieira closely are Burnley, who sent their senior scout Ian Butterworth to the match. Butterworth has now watched Vieira on a number of occasions but Burnley are not expected to move for him in this window.

Looking forward to the threads in 2 years time slagging off Vieira/Brownhill for clearly not being Premier league quality, or slagging off Dyche for not playing them.

Mail report says that Villa are out of the running after signing Drinkwater. They do make a lot about him being ex-Rovers after him being linked with us.

Get him, Wells and Vydra sold - it doesn’t weaken us as they never play. Granted if we get injuries they MIGHT get a chance but even then I think Dyche would be more likely to change the formation to avoid starting them, or picking Long who seems to be ahead of Gibson.
If we manage to get 5m for Wells, 12m or so for Gibson and perhaps 8m for Vydra and bring in a central midfielder and winger I’ll be happy with this window. This type of clear out puts us in a better position to replace these in the summer as well.

We will want a guarantee of cash coming in so we can sort a replacement.
If he is off, he's off. We dont want clauses in it that means we could be stuck with 2 high earning back up CB come summer...

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
To sell Gibson in this window weakens us massively. If either of Mee or Tarks picks up an injury, people on here would be SCREAMING about another disastrous window. Tbh, I’d only be happy with one of the other two you mention leaving this month. Barnes out for a while and we have no one really ready to step in up top if we get an injury crisis in that position also.jedi_master wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 3:14 pmMight be able to get our cash back or near enough if it’s a Prem team in January.

I see what you’re saying but I think if Wood or Rodriguez got injured or suspended Dyche would undoubtedly change to a 4-5-1 as opposed to starting either Vydra or Wells. I think the time has more than come to get them off the wage bill - and I never expected us to recoup good money but looks like we will.bobinho wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 3:36 pmTo sell Gibson in this window weakens us massively. QPRs financial noose might allow us to send Wells and some cash back for Eze. What I’ve seen off him he’d be ideal if McNeil was to leave in the Summer. I’m hoping not so just a thought.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
How about loaning Gibson to a Chanpionship side but we have the option of recalling him at any time? That way he gets to play some football and if Mee or Tarks get injured he can step in and be match fit, rather than having barely played for 18 months.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If he gets a lengthy injury, we won't be able to sell him. We may as well keep him here as backup, unless a side wants to buy him.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
You cant recall players after the windows closed.
Think that rule changed a while back.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Because no championship side would agree to that - too much risk and if we did recall it could ruin their chances and they would be able to not doing anything about it in terms of bringing in a new player.
If any club did offer a deal like that then I'm sure we would have taken it.
Loan with an obligation to buy in summer is best deal for everyone. Selling him to a relegation rival though I'm not sure but if we do get a good offer which mean we can invest in new players then even if it is a relegation rival overall I think we should / would sell.

Even with our track record of taking unnecessary risks in January, surely we aren't going to try and go with just 3 Cbs and/or 3 Cms.
Course it would be great to get something like our money back on Gibbo and Vydra, but we just can't take the risk if no replacements come in.

If Long was PL quality and the fact he is a full International, given his lack of game time I would have expected a Championship team to have come in for him over the last few years - maybe they have and he didn't fancy it or maybe he isn't good enough. He's had decent games for us but has been equally poor....

Gibson was Boro's stand out performer in the PL, which earned him 3 England call-ups. So yes, I'd say he's good enough.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 4:26 pmHave you seen Gibson play? Kev apart from Saturday has put on some decent performances Gibson's cameo v Sunderland was awful

Phil Jones was probably picked for the same squad !
3 years is a long time - he’s had injuries and just not played enough football since then.
I thought he was a great signing at the time as he was a very good player at Boro and always played well against us.
£15m at the time looked value to me for what we were getting.
But it hasn’t worked out for him or us and whilst you don’t become a bad player overnight it is pretty common for players to become average players over 3 years !

Phil Jones is complete shite
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The point was (partly in ridicule) was that 3 years is a long time ago to use being picked for England as a basis that someone is a good player today.claretcarrot93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 5:12 pmPhil Jones is far better than Long as well. That was the point.
I said Phil Jones for obvious reasons - and yes he would probably be good for us and he’s a better player than we give him credit for - it’s just funny to see how calamitous he tends to be and his tendency to land square on his nose !!
Someone like Nathaniel Clyne is a more sensible comparison. One minute in the England squad - then injuries and not playing because better players are in front of you and your career can go downhill pretty quickly. Remember these guys are on the bench - but rarely come on or don’t make the bench because they are not game changers and they don’t play reserve team football. They go from being the star player / captain at their old clubs playing every week to all of a sudden getting one or 2 games a season.
