I'm sorry did I suggest any different? Ultimately it's down to the player to decide for himself in the aforementioned event, say for example again - forest offer 2 million & fulham offer 3 million for the same player & the release clause is set at 2 million triggering the allowance of 2 interested clubs to enter into negotiations with the player, the player is from Middlesbrough established himself through the academy into the first team, do you not think it's likely Steve Gibson or somebody else representing him would be encouraging the player to go with the highest bidder regardless of the players agent possibly advising otherwise, I think you & some others seriously underestimate the power of money & the influence it carries, contracts are circumvented & not honoured money as more clout.Sleeping Cat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 4:06 pmSorry Jakubclaret, a release clause is contractual. If someone meet it, the player is free to discuss terms with that club. if two clubs meet the release clause then it's down to the player to decide who he prefers by the contract on the table.

There must be something in this. Why would we go to all this trouble in recalling Wells so that he could go to Bristol unless there had been some sort of arrangement agreed?

This could work out. In this market wells is worth more than we paid. Next season we can loan out Vydra and he could definitely score plenty of goals in the championship, as we know he is a very good player at that level, making him worth as much as we paid. Also Gibson has probably retained value well as a good left footed centre back, as shown by Watford’s interest.

As soon as a club finds out the details of a release clause they will not bid a penny more. Everything is then down to what is put on the table to the player and which of the interested clubs a player wants to go to.
It really is that simple.

Fulham wouldn’t offer £3m because once they have offered £2m they have met the required transfer fee and can move on to negotiations with the player. It’s really not difficult to understand.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 9:54 pmI'm sorry did I suggest any different? Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It was merely a example, a rarity within itself such events happening wasn’t supposed to taken so literal, if the player was highly sought after sparking a bidding war such happenings would be applicable, but you are correct when the required limit as been met negotiations could take place regardless of any other club trumping the set amount, club to club understandings probably encourage higher bids in order to pass the line, gilding the lily as a hazy metaphor, cherry on the top however descriptive you use words.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
So....Brownhill has a £7m release but it doesn't apply until the summer, allegedly. Bristol want more...couple of Mill perhaps.
Bristol also want Nahki Wells....valued at £7m.
However, anything over £5m we have to pay a chunk to Huddersfield.
Outcome:
Brownhill to Burnley £7m
Wells to Bristol £5m
Bristol get their couple of million. We get a player for £7m so good deal, as it is really only £2m because we receive our fee paid for Wells and save his wages.
Huddersfield get nothing.

You will not find examples as such, it’s not something that’s in the public domain, it’s common knowledge football by & large the higher up you go is a corrupt sport with crooked agents etc, by all means be in denial that everything’s rosy in the garden doesn’t bother me I’ll still sleep tonight, on that apt note, night.TVC15 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 10:09 pmTbh you are having a mare here Jakub.

No doubt all will be revealed tomorrow or Friday.
Can't see us selling Wells to Bristol without negotiating
for Brownhill to come to us even though apparently we haven't
accepted Bristol's current valuation (10m).
We need some fresh blood in and if Wells isn't going to feature for us
then we surely must go for Brownhill.
It's not as if we're going to be shelling out big time and
doubt if Brownhill will be on the top of our salary levels or on as much as
Wells is rumoured to be on.

I totally agree football is corrupt.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 10:38 pmYou will not find examples as such, it’s not something that’s in the public domain, it’s common knowledge football by & large the higher up you go is a corrupt sport with crooked agents etc, by all means be in denial that everything’s rosy in the garden doesn’t bother me I’ll still sleep tonight, on that apt note, night.
But that has got nothing to do whatsoever with the daft argument you are making....you do realise that transfer fees are included in accounts ?....in the public domain.
The ONLY reason you will not find any examples of what you are saying is because it’s never happened.
Lots of people in football are corrupt but there are not any agents out there who are stupid enough to allow the club the player is leaving to benefit at the cost of their client. What would be the point of release clauses ?
Hopefully a good nights sleep will bring you to your senses !!

Why? If Brownhil does have the potential to grow in to a good Prem League player then surely he has a lot more value than a 29 year old 1 in 3 Championship standard striker.
If we have got £4m for Wells that is great business by the club

If it comes off - not there yet- then of course we will have done. It doesn't take Sherlock to see weve compromised on Wells' value - to release the deal for Brownhill, and in the process effectively shared between BFC and BCFC the value that would have otherwise gone to Huddersfield under their sell on. "Up to" 10m for Brownhill presumably means significantly less up front with the balance depending on appearances, survival etc. It all sounds like good business to me.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 9:25 amJust seen on Twitter the deal is worth up to 10 million.

Time will tell but my hunch is that if it gets done, we will be getting a good player, at a good age and with proven leadership qualities. He appears to be a central midfielder foremost but very capable on the right hand side too. That's all very pleasing and a decent start to the rebuilding job we need to begin undertaking (and which is arguably overdue).

Definitely, good to see a younger well regarded player coming in. Will be good to have a viable centre midfield alternative after the Drinkwater debacle too and it will hopefully help Cork and Westwood up their game.claretspice wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 9:36 amIf it comes off - not there yet- then of course we will have done. Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Agree with Spice on this, seems to be a good fit and for good value overall.
Dyche will know what he's getting and it doesn't seem to be a case of a player acquired out of desperation which you could argue was certainly the case with Vydra and Drinkwater. Gibson, perhaps less so, I personally think he's just been a bit unlucky. If being behind the club captain and our best player wasn't tough enough, when there have been injuries to those two, he's often been injured himself.
There's plenty midfielders made the step up to the PL in recent seasons - just look at the likes of players we missed out on like McArthur and McCarthy who have gone to be established at this level - and more recently Norwood, Fleck and Lundstram at Sheffield United.
Don't think it necessarily means an exit for Hendrick - but might give us flexibility to play as a 4-3-3 when the situation demands.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS Jan 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I wonder if our recruitment team will get any credit for this deal (should it happen)?
Midfielder.
Good age.
Leader.
The foresight to replace Hendrick before he most probably leaves.
Using Wells whilst his stock is high as a make-weight to encourage Bristol City to deal.
Selling Wells at a value that means we don't have to pay anything to Huddersfield.
I'm not saying that our recruitment is amazing and that we don't require any further additions....but maybe they have done well on this deal.
