Re: Is that us done
I've been assuming that our business this window has now been concluded (at least in terms of incomings). But you never know. Actually, I was having a think last night about our RB position. Assuming we're signing a new RB this summer, who would everyone want to stay to compete for the spot? Lowton has been a shadow of his former self the last season or two and Bardsley is 35 in June. Could it be that we'd need two new players for the position?
Re: Is that us done
I'll go 1 in 2 out today..
Re: Is that us done
I would imagine that’ll be that. Not too late to get a right sided player through the door but I can’t see it.
Especially with Dyche’s comments regarding budget.

Just posted on this somewhere else, I'd keep Bardsley on the bench next year with a new young right back in. We might be able to sneak a mill or two from a championship side for Lowton!williamjblazkowicz wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 8:31 amI've been assuming that our business this window has now been concluded (at least in terms of incomings). Re: Is that us done
I'm leaning towards the same! My only reservation is that players can suddenly decline when reaching a certain age. Mind you, Bardsley hasn't shown signs of that so I'd be okay with us giving him another year.
Re: Is that us done
I'd do a deal for the winger at QPR, Lennon + cash for him then the right wing and centre mid with Brownhill will be sorted.
Then we need to bring in 3 or 4 player's in the summer to freshen up the team.

Re: Is that us done
I hope so, but this window it's been all about the Brownhill transfer and nothing else, but you never know they may of keep one or two deals away from the media and they spring a suprise later today.

I thought this was another ‘remainer’ Brexit thread.

All done for us. I think we'll go with what we have and hang on to Vydra and Gibson till the summer.

Re: Is that us done
With JBG returning, and Hendrick staying until the summer, along with Brownhill in, mixed with us on 30 points and edging closer to survival, I can understand why the club would prefer to now wait until the summer.
Central midfield was always the primary position to get sorted this month. Positions such as right back and right mid can wait.

Re: Is that us done
I'd hope we have a few more in, due to the changes which will be needed in the summer. Best to get some acclimated to their new surroundings, rather than needing to integrate 5-6 new faces all at once.
Realistically though, I think that's us done.

Hopefully having wrapped up the Brownhill/Wells deals with a day to spare it leaves the club with time to bring in someone under the radar.

Omar Niasse loan, said on Sky.
Presuming to allow Vydra to leave.

Would like to think there’s time for Bright Samuel to be done mind. Would be a pretty perfect addition.

Re: Is that us done
Out of the cups now so all our efforts are focused on league survival- so no more permanent incomings. But we are beginning to have an unhealthy situation with a growing number of unhappy players ( Hart, Gibson, Vydra, Wells and by all accounts Hendrick and his buddy Brady). So expect a clear-out either now or definitely in the summer.

Wells isn't here. He's moved to Bristol City.IWOODLOVETT wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 11:05 amOut of the cups now so all our efforts are focused on league survival- so no more permanent incomings. We wouldn't play him either!

We've already got Kevin Long as cover if Vydra goes

Re: Is that us done
I think we are done improving the first team today. will only get someone in if we let another leave.
1 player who should improve the starting 11 is a minor miracle so cant expect anymore and, as long as we can make sure we get a few in the summer, there is a strong argument to say we dont need to bring anymore in this window and can afford to wait until the 'easier' summer window.

Anybody not playing is usually “unhappy”.IWOODLOVETT wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 11:05 amOut of the cups now so all our efforts are focused on league survival- so no more permanent incomings. At least they can be comforted by the fact that we are still paying them millions a year...
Out of the list you mention the only one that we are probably concerned about is Jeff and he looks like he is doing what a few players choose to in running down his contract and putting himself in a very strong bargaining position with either us or other clubs. Nowt much more we can do about that other than what we have done in offering him a new deal.
The rest of them it’s all about getting them off the books as quickly as possible and looking to the future and signing new players or bringing other players through.
With the size of squads in the Premier League and the money spent on players managing the situation of unhappy players and agents trying to get them out etc is one of the biggest jobs for all managers.
Even with probably one of the best man mangers in the league in SD it’s impossible to keep everyone happy. Imagine the toxic atmosphere playing under a sh-it like Mourinho who once he decides he does not like starts making it public to the media about you being lazy or overweight etc
Re: Is that us done
Think it will be some time before we see Brownhill starting a game unless injuries/suspensions
So, one squad player in - just hope we don't see Gibson (another squad player I know) out

Re: Is that us done
Lowton together with the rest of the team was excellent in his last game. Hopefully that will have given him his confidence back. Get JGB back fit and cash in on Vydra and Gibson and rebuild in the summer. Assuming we survive of course
Re: Is that us done
Lowton was absolutely awful in his last game. And so were the rest of the team.
The game before they were fantastic !

SSN reporting that Burnley have said that "getting a replacement in for Vydra today is unlikely, so him leaving will not happen"

We can't find a replacement to sit on the bench forever?
