HAPPY BREXIT DAY EVERYONE!

Post by RingoMcCartney » Fri Jan 31, 2020 9:14 am

After 47 years since the UK joined the Common Market, today is a momentous day. The UK, officially leaves the EU.

The UK begins to regain its sovereignty, independence and right to self determination, at 11 o'clock tonight!

I, for one, will be celebrating and wish a bright and prosperous future to all fellow Clarets, as our great country, begins this new era outside the European Union!

UTC.

Just sent my mrs out to buy a new quilt. Not sure my continental one will work after midnight, and I've stocked up on croissants.
Cant wait

Are they ringing the 'Start of the Recession Bell' at midnight?

Seriously, today is a very, very sad day. We will have no say in the decisions Europe makes and given 70% of our overseas trade is with Europe there will be company closures and redundancies.

If you trust Boris and his odious cabinet to negotiate better trading terms than the ones we already had, well I am lost for words. They are the most incompetent bunch I have ever seen.

I’m just on my way out to buy an effing big rocket which I’ll be letting off at 11pm. I’m going to aim it low so it goes off at the end of the garden of a neighbour of mine who is a rabid remainer. I really hope that re-establishes our friendship and that from now on, the only moaning he does is about how well we are doing despite his dire predictions. Happy Brexit day!!

Link this to your responses to the Battle of Britain ace pilot thread and it's easy to see how unhinged and more than a little frightened you are, Ben.

Today will be nearly as good as 13 dec was, watching the democracy deniers having to answer questions all day.

I know things won't be straight forward going forwards, but I knew that when I voted to leave.

Nearly 4 years on from jumping off the cliff, and you are still preaching doom and gloom. Just how long do we have to wait for these wilting shoots of recession to appear. Will you still be saying in another 4 years time, recessions coming, any day now, you wait we will live to regret this..........

Now that the inevitable is upon us, all the forecasts indicate that GB will be the fastest growing market in Europe. But feel free to keep burying your head in a pipe dream, stick you fingers in your ears, don't listen to the positivity, and one day in 30 or 40 years time, you might wake up and be right.

Eversheddyneddy (ESN) I ‘foed’ you years ago you imbecile; that’s why I don’t respond unless I’m telling you I ‘foed’ you. I feel it necessary to tell you this because it’s highly unlikely you will realise it without being told. I’m sure you will eventually find a worthwhile place in society where you feel you are valued, but posting insults at me isn’t it.

You "foed" me but keep answering, result.
I've not insulted you - calling you out for equating the EU and present day Germany to the era of Nazism - especially this week of all weeks - requires words that even you might understand, especially when you ruin a lovely thread on a true WW11 hero by spouting your obnoxious views.
Considering you can't read my posts, you're doing a hell of a lot of responding.

So that will be why they are insisting we accept the ECJ rules, and continue to allow their fishing fleet to use our waters, before they start negotiating a deal. Wake up.

That's certainly gone up since the vote. It was less than 50% a couple of years ago. Have you a source for the new figures?

"7. Germany won't extradite its citizens to the UK
It won't be possible for some suspected criminals to be brought back to the UK if they flee to Germany.

Germany's constitution does not allow its citizens to be extradited, unless it's to another EU country.

"This exception cannot apply anymore after the UK has left EU," a spokesman from the German Federal Ministry of Justice told BBC News.

It's unclear if the same restrictions will apply to other countries. Slovenia, for example, says the situation is complicated, while the European Commission was unable to provide comment.

The UK Home Office says the European Arrest Warrant will continue to apply during the transition period. (That means Germany will be able to extradite non-German citizens.)

However, it adds that if a country's laws prevent extradition to the UK it "will be expected to take over the trial or sentence of the person concerned".

What a stupid law. So if a German robs a Swiss bank, Germany won't extradite him? I can't see that lasting for long if it becomes a problem.

At long last phase 1 is completed,it shouldn't have taken this length of time, but now we can finally crack on with the real negotations which will determine our future trading relationship with our European friends and neighbours.

Phase 2 will be the litmus test of whether brexit will be a success or not,i'm sure there will have to be compromises on both sides if a trade deal is going to be agreed in less than a year, hopefully discussions can be conducted in a mature commonsense manner, and the country can come together after all the rancour of the last 3 years.

I well remember the day we joined The Common Market. Many at that time were against joining and said it would end in tears. So 47 years later is the UK a better place or not ? I would suggest not. Happy Independence Day

They don't need to "bring back" anything. All they need do is decriminalise the use of non-metric measures so the people can use whatever the people find most convenient.

What a stupid law. So if a German robs a Swiss bank, Germany won't extradite him? I can't see that lasting for long if it becomes a problem.
It's not as quite as clear cut as that but I like the idea that Germany will now amend its constitution if it causes a problem after the UK has left the EU.

Remainers should be having a great party with the all the food and drink that they have been stockpiling

Funny that all the flights inter Europe haven't been cancelled after all.

Alas no food and medicine shortages ,no children sleeping on hospital floors , no mid air chaos , no civil disorder . In fact nothing has changed ,even the French are on strike .

I still hold the view that the next global financial crisis to hit will be borne within the Eurozone and although we will be hit irrespective of leaving I for one will be glad of the opportunity Brexit gives to forge other relationships.

You just need to look at the macro data to see that things are not well:

- €2.6tn + in quantatative easing (QE) which they stopped in Jan 19 and had to restart in Nov 19 as growth sharply contracted.
- €4tn negative yielding European Government debt
- Inflation rate at half the target
- Interest rates at 0%
- Italy and France showing signs of contraction
- Deutsche Bank posting a €5bn loss
- ECB holding €4tn on their balance sheet equating to ~ 40% of Eurozone GDP
- Euro falling on loan growth data
- Trade wars affecting the predominately export led market.

As the Eurozone has unionised monetary policy but not fiscal policy then once pumping money in stops working they have little to no control of Governments to spend / cut tax in a coordinated fashion to stop the end of the economic cycle turning in to a full blown crisis.

And although we are not a member of the Eurozone the direction of travel is further political integration and if we remained members then we would slowly yield more power and control.

So I for one will be breaking dry January to raise a glass to Brexit at 11pm and hope that perhaps those perveyors of doom and gloom on our shores might release that the membership they so wish to maintain may not bring the future rewards they think it will.
