I’ll be the first to admit I thought we’d seen the best of him, fair play to him for turning it around

Re: Matt Lowton
Agreed, he is making a mockery of all the knee jerkers who were calling for him to be sold, because of a dip in form, albeit quite a long one by his standards.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 3:54 pmOutstanding. Back to his best these last two games.
Good players don't become bad players overnight unless their legs go. Sometimes you just have to stick by them and show support, because nobody can be 100% on point for extending periods. Football is an up and down game.
Great to see him doing so well again.

Certainly 1, it’s harsh though because you could argue Jay cost us 2 points as well. I wouldn’t say it personally
Not a time to start searching for negatives

Re: Matt Lowton
Thought all team played well today against good opposition
Lowton certainly back to his best
Lacazette , one of the best strikers in the Premier League is also going through a rough patch but probably not getting the same stick that Lowton has had on here

He played with real swagger today. At his age, we could be getting his peak years, still.

Re: Matt Lowton
Shows how far we have come when we are disappointed at not beating Arsenal. Keep this level up and we will finish in top half. Brownhill JGB and Barnes still to come

Re: Matt Lowton
Both full backs were faultless today
Aubameyang got nothing out of Lowton during the first half so switched sides for the second and got nothing out of Charlie

Re: Matt Lowton
Both full backs have been excellent lately as both Wood and now Jay Rod are keeping hold of the ball allowing them to get forward.. Sadly the unfit Barnes was offering nothing when he played

. thinks there were two incidents in the first half when Aubameyang should have scored on each occasion when Lowton let him go.

Thinks Jeremy Bentham is being over critical of a good performance that Lowton put in considering the speed and skill of the opposition. If Jeremy is referring to one of the opportunities I think he is that was toe poked wide VAR would have had it as offside.

Re: Matt Lowton
As fans we treat these guys like robots whilst having no knowledge of what is going on in their lives. Ash Barnes was poor for 5 or 6 weeks then we find out he’s playing with a groin problem.
It is good to have him back to his best and with Bardsley top cover that is one position we are settled.

Re: Matt Lowton
I thought he was sloppy and off the pace for the first 15 mins, when it could be argued he was part at fault for their big 2 chances, but he certainly deserves a massive pat on the back for the way he responded. When opposition fans describe him as brilliant, you can't argue.
Being petty, I thought he was slow out of the blocks against Utd, but he grew into that game as well.
He and Bards do seem to have runs of good games and then tire, the shirt is now Lowts again, and he's earned it.
Well done that man.

Re: Matt Lowton
He was immense today. Put in some proper challenges... he was sort of like a cross between Matt Lowton and Phil Bardsley.

Agree with this. Caught out of position a few times today that could have cost goals. We got lucky.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 5:42 pmI thought he was sloppy and off the pace for the first 15 mins, when it could be argued he was part at fault for their big 2 chances, but he certainly deserves a massive pat on the back for the way he responded. Otherwise, excellent. Will be the first to admit I thought he was done, but his return to form has been fantastic. Huge credit to him.

Re: Matt Lowton
I assume one of these you refer to is the one when boomerang was played onside by the other full back....certainly not Lowton’s fault.
Both full backs were excellent but not entirely without fault.

He was phenomenal today and that’s back to back impressive performances from him. Must admit that I was questioning his attitude after a poor run of games but he proved me wrong today.

Re: Matt Lowton
Not so much caught out of position as beaten by speed and a clever turn, the best players can do that.
