Any idea where the old train yard is located?
Re: The Stranger - Netflix
Not sure - but my wife recognised the bit in Read from a walk she has done - it actually leads to nowhere I believe (not the programme !!)

Re: The Stranger - Netflix
Enjoy Harlen Coben, Tell No One(french) is a great film. Got proper peed off with the stranger and cobra. I know they have side stories to keep it ticking over but these two had far too many. It got ridiculous. Not everybody in the world has a life full of drama. There are plenty of boring bastards like me.
I might add that it does come to a conclusion. Something else that has ticked me off about recent tv dramas. Mainly set up for a follow up series.

Re: The Stranger - Netflix
Not sure of the road - it’s accessed I think from the great harwood side....beyond the caravan park.
No buses go that way I don’t think.
I agree that it did get a bit silly with too many sub plots. It was decent enough though.
Paul Kaye is in Lillyhammer which is also on Netflix - that’s a completely different series but very good and funny if you haven’t seen it already....3 series. Bit of a mix between Fargo and The Sopranos !!
Re: The Stranger - Netflix
Yes this is very good. Paul Kaye is very creepy in it. Not at the end yet so no spoilers please.
Re: The Stranger - Netflix
Great show.
I didn't realise the viaduct was the one in Read, I used to play down by the Calder when visiting my grandparents at the caravan park.

Started off ok , with a decent cast , but I thought the ending was atrocious so many holes in the plot

Started this last night. As soon as it came on I was convinced Adam was being played by Tom Heaton*, and then he was made to go in goal at the dads v lads footy.

Re: The Stranger - Netflix
It was a decent watch and nice to see a series actually come to an end.
A lot of people demanding a 2nd series but it would take some writing skills, a lot already happened in the first and came to a conclusion.

That's good to know. I might watch this if there's actually an ending.

Not a bad watch, not as good as a lot of people on Twitter etc have made out.
Nice to watch something and recognise a lot of the locations though.

Re: The Stranger - Netflix
Part way through the first episode, the script is awful, it’s like the actors are using the first draft to work with.

Re: The Stranger - Netflix
Thought this was very overhyped bog standard fodder. Was alright though and good to see the locations but some of the cast were terrible ,the chinese copper for one was almost akin to Dave Lee Travis playing Hamlet . It had the feel of that Marvel nonsense that James Nesbit was in about a lucky charm . Perhaps the novel just didn’t translate into the screen that well .
Re: The Stranger - Netflix
Part way through episode three and tend to agree with claptrappers. Contrived storyline and the script is leaden. Also why is it clearly set in the north yet everyone has southern accents?

Why comment on how good or bad the ending is.

Re: The Stranger - Netflix
I wondered that, I researched the lead actor he's from Leicester & I think that's as close as you get to the north cast wise.
Re: The Stranger - Netflix
The main guy reminded me of Carl Froch
Re: The Stranger - Netflix
Quality viewing best I’ve seen in ages, lots of twists and Thorin Oakenshield was fantastic

Froch is Nottingham, but as a snooker fan, Selby is definitely Leicester.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 10:44 pmDoes abit, reminded me of mark Selby abit he's also from Leicester.

I never knew about froch, but I know about Selby as when he was winning a major snooker tournament it coincided with Leicester winning the league, & on the telly they mentioned it.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 10:46 pmFroch is Nottingham, but as a snooker fan, Selby is definitely Leicester.

Aye, he's been the jester since 2012 at least. That's when I first noticed him really but I saw him at pool as well.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 10:49 pmI never knew about froch, but I know about Selby as when he was winning a major snooker tournament it coincided with Leicester winning the league, & on the telly they mentioned it.

Lot of it was filmed around Ramsbottom. The railway viaduct scene was part of the old Ramsbottom to Helmshore line

Wrong about the viaduct. It is Martholme viaduct, Great Harwood

Started off ok but went downhill very quickly I thought. By episode 2 or 3 I didn't care about a single plotline or character
