Re: POPE
To be fair in most of those games he didn't have much if any competition as the rest of the team were awful. Yes he made some good saves and is still a decent enough keeper, but I wouldn't want him as number 1 in a premier league side.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 10:00 amBeing man of the match in half of the premier league games he played for us.

Haha fair enough. Suppose they could still win something this year too.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 10:22 amJust to update you Chelsea have won a trophy in each of the last three seasons, The EPL, FA Cup and Europa League in that order.

You forget Joe recently made it very plain to see (on MOTD) that he is keen to move on this summer. Personally, I hope he does.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 6:51 pmWe have an incredible keeper in reserve in joe hart...

Re: POPE
Haven’t seen him play yet, isn’t he really small?FactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 8:17 pmBefore Pope came in, people were saying we'd be knackered if Heaton left.
We do seem to have it sorted for keepers. BPF will be the next big thing and we won't be missing Pope.
Re: POPE
When was the last time Chelsea weren't playing in European football? It must have been twenty years or so ago I bet.Goobs wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 11:51 pmSorry I thought it was Chelsea after him not City or Liverpool.
As Arsenal, United and Spurs prove being one of the Big Six does not guarantee either of those "every year".
Like I said previously not saying he would stay or that he should, just that you never know what is important to people unless you are very close to them so it isn't a forgone conclusion.

Re: POPE
You could have said that about Arsenal or United until recently, so as I said. Not guaranteed and also it is the Champions league that players want to play in and at the moment I would say only Liverpool and City would be a very safe bet for that.
Re: POPE
You could still say it about Arsenal and United (although probably more like 30 years than 20). One or two may drop down to the Europa League each year but they often take it pretty seriously and you've still a much better chance of playing in the Champions League if you're playing for a club that qualifies for Europe every year compared to playing for Burnley.
