One of the best solo goals in the history of our club. Made all the better when you consider the crap that was going on around now.

I remember Des Lynam commenting when it was shown on Football Focus "that's Ashley Hoskin, no Diego in there".

I showed it to my 13 year old son in Spoons before the Liverpool game then pointed to a figure sat at the table behind us. That's Ashley Hoskin, the scorer of that goal. He came over and had a good chat with us. Genuine fan and a nice bloke.

Pace poise dribbling and skill coupled with an awesome finish. Never seen that before. Brilliant goal

Didn't he end up really badly injured?

It was grim being a Burnley fan in the 80s.

We're fortunate it was captured on camera from that era.

Great goal, I always wondered if it was as good as people claimed until I saw it.

He had his leg broken in the first minute of a game v Orient, so must have been 85/6 season. John Sitton got a straight red when back in the day GBH usually led to a yellow card. It was a dreadful foul.

For me...it's the greatest ever individual goal scored in a Burnley shirt.

Sat by Ash on the coach arriving at Ewood for one of the last games. He was banging on the window abusing their fans. It’s very childish of me, but I thought “that’ll do for me, he’s a Burnley fan”.

Don't recall seeing that before tbh but what a great goal!

Reminiscent of Maradona's 2nd goal v England in the World Cup.

You can tell it's a classic goal by the reaction of the home fans behind the nets

The game was played on a Friday night. Saturday lunchtime was Saint and Greavsie and just before showing it, said just watch this goal. The names not Diego, its Ashley Hoskin. Scored with his right foot too.

He scored a fantastic goal at Deepdale in the semi final of the Sherpa Van.

Okay it wasn't brilliant, but that was due to the grass being too long.

Wonder if Arteta would enjoy it, from a football perspective?
Or maybe he'd be more offended at the grass - or lack of it.

It might not have been fantastic, but that goal at Deepdale is certainly one of the most memorable.

You can see the Swansea fans behind that goal applauding. Very unusual for that tribal era.

Often see him on Stanley and he has their club gear on so I suppose he might be involved at ASFC in some capacity?
