One of the best solo goals in the history of our club. Made all the better when you consider the crap that was going on around now.

I remember Des Lynam commenting when it was shown on Football Focus "that's Ashley Hoskin, no Diego in there".

That was one special goal, had a bit of everything.

I showed it to my 13 year old son in Spoons before the Liverpool game then pointed to a figure sat at the table behind us. That's Ashley Hoskin, the scorer of that goal. He came over and had a good chat with us. Genuine fan and a nice bloke.

He had his leg broken in the first minute of a game v Orient, so must have been 85/6 season. John Sitton got a straight red when back in the day GBH usually led to a yellow card. It was a dreadful foul.

The game was played on a Friday night. Saturday lunchtime was Saint and Greavsie and just before showing it, said just watch this goal. The names not Diego, its Ashley Hoskin. Scored with his right foot too.

Celebrations were so wild, the wooden terracing nearly collapsed.

Often see him on Stanley and he has their club gear on so I suppose he might be involved at ASFC in some capacity?
