I happened to read that article as well. Sounds like lots of similarities between the way us and Getafe do things.

A short-list already in place.
See Millwall, Oxford Utd & Cheltenham Town.

Not sure about Karl Robinson, fair enough on the other 2 if the shortlist you say is already in place. Would you want Paul Cook on it?Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 7:00 pmA short-list already in place.

Micky Mellon might be ready for a bigger club than Tranmere after this season.

Re: Dyches successor?...
It was very much a tongue-in-cheek suggestion, but it would come as no surprise were all of Rowett, Duff & Robinson to come under consideration. Particularly the last named given the spectacular job he is currently doing at Oxford. Their performance in the recent Cup replay against Newcastle was special.

Well I suppose different people have different views on what’s spectacular.Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 9:37 pmIt was very much a tongue-in-cheek suggestion, but it would come as no surprise were all of Rowett, Duff & Robinson to come under consideration. Many neutral viewers stated it was difficult to identify which one was the PL team from the performance in that replay. That was my personal view too.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 10:03 pmWell I suppose different people have different views on what’s spectacular.
Robinson has clearly assembled a very good team and all credit to him.

Re: Dyches successor?...
I’d hope we’d be looking for better than a guy who’s guided his, apparently very good team, to a mid table finish last season and is currently residing in mid table this season.
Although I’m sure their draw and defeat to Newcastle in the FA Cup would override that.

This is Burnley we're talking about, don't expect Simeone to be rocking up anytime soon.
Let's wait and see.

Indeed it is.
However I wouldn’t be expecting a call if I was Mr Robinson. No matter how good they were in their defeat to Newcastle.

Guides a team to mid table in The Championship then goes to a mid table Championship team.

I may be reading your posts wrong but you come across as an elderly man that refuses to accept football has changed.... sorry if I’m out of order but I’ve just noticed recently you appear as bitter as a field of lemonsRoyboyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 9:37 pmIt was very much a tongue-in-cheek suggestion, but it would come as no surprise were all of Rowett, Duff & Robinson to come under consideration. Re: Dyches successor?...
All conjecture I suppose at the moment as there is no immediate vacancy, but still be interesting to sneak a look at any potential short-list if and when the circumstances prevail. Not that we're expecting Sean to vacate his position anytime soon.......or are we?

No need for anyone else.

Re: Dyches successor?...
I’m up for it .......
I once applied for the Oxford Utd job many years ago following their advert in the national press whilst my 5 aside team had gone half a season undefeated in the Wednesday league at Townley.....(North’s Dry Cleaners - nice blue and yellow kit)
They wrote back thanking me for my application, unfortunately I wouldn’t be getting an interview but they wished our 5 aside team all the best for the second half if the season......
We then went on to lose every game...........shocking.

Re: Dyches successor?...
If he sees his current contract out he'll have done 10 years with us. He may decide to seek a new challenge, or have had enough of living in an apartment on his own away from his family, who knows?

But did you put any good performances in against sides from a couple of leagues above in the cup, yet still lose?Jimmymaccer wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 7:56 amI’m up for it .......

Re: Dyches successor?...
Aside from Duff, who is sort of an internal candidate, I cant see us looking at managers from league one. It's a huge leap from there to the sort of squad we now have.
More likely we'll be looking at the up and coming cohort in the Championship. Starting 15 miles down the M65 at Preston, where Alex Neill is doing a startlingly good job in a fairly similar mould to Dyche. He strikes me as the outstanding candidate currently.

Re: Dyches successor?...
How did WE get on against Newcastle last season? Us, Burnley, an established PL team?
Just asking really Bordeaux, as you seem to be a little obsessed that Oxford got beat by them. I say obsessed, but it probably isn’t quite that bad but you do mention it a few times. Almost as if BECAUSE ultimately it was a defeat, Robinson shouldn’t be considered.
And to the best of my (admittedly poor) memory, Dyche wasn’t at a mid table club when he got the call from us... he was at home making an omelette. He’d been released so was out of work.
Anyway, let’s hope it’s a long, long time before we are asking this question for real.

That person isn’t me.
Try again.
I didn’t say he was at a Championship side either.
Apart from those two errors, excellent post.

Re: Dyches successor?...
No errors.
I pointed out YOUR references to the defeat against Newcastle, not someone else mentioning what a good performance it was.
And whilst you DIDN’T say he’d come direct from a championship club, it was an inference that he was at that standard, so valid I feel.
Thanks for the “excellent” remark though... I shall take it as a compliment as opposed to the sarcasm you obviously intended.
Anyway, I’m a happy clapper, happy for SD to stay as long as he wants... within reason obviously. As long as we stay above the bottom third of the championship, I think we are doing very well for a town of our size and a club of our size and resources.

Re: Dyches successor?...
You did point out my reference to it yes.
The manager in question had a very average record mainly two leagues below our own current position and is currently in quite an average position again this season.
That’s why it’s ridiculous to suggest he would be considered as a successor to Dyche whenever the sad time comes that he decides to leave.
This performance against Newcastle was mentioned, i didn’t see it but again it’s ridiculous to suggest that this would be focused on rather than his record as a whole.
