What a shite defence.
Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
If Villa lose away at Southampton next week that'll be another relegation spot confirmed.
They won't recover!

There will always be someone willing to take a pun to loan.Shore claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 3:49 pmDont know what's happened to drinkwater, a shadow of the player he was , wonder where his career is going after this season.
Contracted until 2022 at Chelsea
They'll take anything for him in the next couple years or he's out on a free to a newly promoted team with too much money and need some bench warmers with prem experience.

Against Spurs' defence our corners are going to cause them massive problems.
Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
Villa have the look of a side who are going down. Conceding plenty of goals and toothless upfront.

Some here would be creaming themselves with a £142million transfer window.
It. Gaurantees. Nothing.
And they only moan louder when it all fell apart than if we spent nothing at all.

Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
Entertaining game to watch as a neutral.
As per post a couple back- Spurs were in panic mode for corners- keeper flapping about and defenders losing their men etc.
Drinkwater still looking very slow and unfit, got caught on the ball a few times whilst he was on. (he was "labouring a bit" according to commentator).
Reina still a v good keeper.
I wanted Spurs to win but felt a bit sorry for Villa at the end. Terrible mistake to gift a goal in the last minute of added time, sort of bad luck that happens when you're struggling.

If Villa go down I'd have Grealish in a heartbeat. Not sure he's SD's type of player but his vision and workrate can't be questioned.

Grealish wouldn't be coming to us, unfortunately he is too good.

Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
Aye Grealish has a lot of skill. He faded a bit there but was everywhere driving his team forward for c 80 minutes and a danger every time he was on the ball. Would be good if he could cut out some of the dives but he does get (really) fouled a lot because he runs with the ball kept close to him and gets his body in the way of would-be tacklers.
He'll go for a very big fee (and wages) if Villa go down.

I’d love for us to find a Grealish type player from somewhere.
Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
Gonna be a huge scrap at the bottom. Norwich look doomed. Watford West Ham Bournemouth and Villa all have tough run ins but still almost a third of the season to go. Somebody like Oalace or Brighton could easily get sucked in. Nice to watching from mid table. Best Bournemouth and we will be looking at a comfortable top half finish !!!!

Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
The same Grealish who's getting linked with United, Real Madrid and Barcelona? Dyche would have to whip up a hell of an omelette to tempt him to Burnley I think.

VAR penalty - why did it take so long? The Villa defender missed the ball and hit the attacker. 15 seconds, two angles all they have done is create an unnecessary controversy.

I’ve not seen much of Brownhill admittedly but didn’t have him down as that?

They were also checking for an offside, which looked close, I think.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 4:46 pmVAR penalty - why did it take so long? The Villa defender missed the ball and hit the attacker. 15 seconds, two angles all they have done is create an unnecessary controversy.

My word there's a lot of falling over in this game from both teams.
Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
Why not he might want to stay in Claret and Blue in the Premier league and with Villa and West Ham getting relegated we'd be his only option

Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
Toon's right wing back (Lazaroo) is decent going forward but a bit of a liability as a defender. He was completely the wrong side of Aub when that man scored (and not even close enough to jump into him from the wrong side) also got nutmegged on the by-line for the 2nd goal; hooked now though. Hope he's in the team when we play them, Taylor and McNeil might do well.

How bad are Newcastle?
Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
I don't know how Newcastle have managed to get 31 points. Every time I've seen them this season they've been awful.

Re: Villa vs Spurs / Arsenal vs Newcastle
Toon competed well first half but when Arsenal got that first goal they lost their purpose quite badly, made a lot of defensive errors.
That's not typical for them recently (0-0 home to Norwich, 2-2 away at Everton, 1-0 win at home to Chelsea, 1-1 away at Wolves has been a decent run of 6 points from the 4 last games).
Palace away then us at home next- see how they recover, hopefully not much.
