I didn't say you can't hear or see them, as I have actually seen one, what I said was that you can't photograph one.
So what was the point of mentioning heat? You might as well have just made up the fact you cant photograph ghosts and left it at that

He hasn't made that up. You can't photograph ghosts because they don't exist.

The thing is, you can actually photograph hot and cold.

Yep I lived in a haunted hotel in Sheffield (I worked there). It was well known to be haunted, and I saw what my eyes and brain saw - i.e. didn't make up or be imagining. People who say ghosts don't exist are massively naive

You know your brain basically makes up /imagines most of what you “see” anyway, right?

https://www3.scienceblog.com/community/ ... 03073.html

“"In my view, imagery plays a key role in many sorts of false memories," says Kosslyn. "One is 'filling in' the gaps and later remembering not only what was attended to, but also what was filled in." In retrospect, he says, we don't make any distinction between the two types of information. For all our experience of a rich visual world, it seems that we take in no more than a handful of facts about the world, throw in a few stored images and beliefs, and produce a convincing whole in which it is impossible to tell what was real and what imagined. As Blackmore puts it: "There is a world and a brain in it, which together are building a construction, a story, a great confabulation."”

Go on then, what did you actually see that made you think it was haunted?

That same stance is maintained, it's fair to say you are unsure, but it's impossible to state 1 way or the other as it's not proven & contentious & judging by this thread extremely debatable.

If ghosts were real, we’d see them all the time. There’s miles more dead people than alive people.

Also, large groups of people never see ghosts do they? It’s always individuals or children.

Do ghosts have to follow a rule book? Is it like the plot to Monsters Inc?

Why has the ghost of George Beel never manifested himself at 3pm on Saturday at Turf Moor? The club was doing exactly the same thing at the same time when he was scoring goals 100-odd years ago - why has he never showed up in front of us mortals? He’d be at his most happiest scoring goals in his day.

There are countless things that are impossible to disprove. I can’t disprove the existence of unicorns, I can’t disprove the existence of the tooth fairy or the Loch Ness Monster. I don’t need to disprove ghosts because there is literally no proof that they exist. The sheer idea of ghosts is fantastical and has absolutely no sound scientific basis.

Yet you call it rubbish when I state that the brain makes up around 80% of what you see based on a publication in the British Medical Journal.

I'm not sure is the honest answer it's unexplained, things that i can't prove or disprove it's best to keep a open mind, I'm actually researching now on the internet it's interesting, if you cocked up a photograph you might get a warped blurry blob I get that, not full images with a graphic head arms & legs in some cases.

When we beat Leicester? A sunbeam shone on the seat of a well known supporter who had recently passed.... the comment was they'd like to think it was his spirit fair enough. When someone dies he/ she will be Looking down on you now is another often heard comment.really? Can you explain either.

The whole point of evidence, the foundation of the discourse of scientific reasoning is evidence.

Just because you can't disprove something doesn't make the claim of it any more factual.

You can't disprove there isn't a million pounds in the boot of my car, does that mean that there is?

Evidence versus faith or belief. Sometimes people believe in different things, they don’t want science to crush their view.

Science sometimes falls short. No, I don’t have any evidence and I’m too busy to look.

There’s at least three ways to explain that photograph.

1) the negative is spliced with another photograph

2) The setup was of two people. The other person stood up during the long exposure and looked into the lens

3) the same person did the same as above.

I have had one supernatural experience when I was 8 years old that I only share with my family, and had one staying in a b&b in Cornwall with my family.
My son had a supernatural experience in the old Woolworths store in town, when it changed to JJB. He still doesn't like talking about it.

Good job the game kicked off at 2pm isn’t it, if it had been a night match, the dead supporter wouldn’t have had the opportunity to use the suns position and manipulate the clouds to skilfully let the sunlight through and light up their seat.

I took my family on holiday to a very nice hotel in Greece where the the rooms were individual bungalows. We were told that we were in the older part of the complex that hadn't yet been renovated but the bungalows were bigger. This was correct as the bungalow was a little dated but was huge with a private terrace and sunbathing area.

On the first night I had a terrible nightmare about a family involved in an horrific traffic accident where they all died but walked and crawled out of the vehicle. I woke up with a start and went in to the kitchen to get a drink of water. Whilst there I went to check on my 8 year old son who was in his own bedroom. To my horror he wasn't there.

Panicking I started looking for him in the bungalow when I heard a knock on the door. I opened the door and there stood my son. He just walked past me and got into bed. He never recalled where he had been or for how long. We were only round the corner from the main pool.

Next morning I went to reception and asked to change room as I just didn't feel comfortable anymore. The guy on reception said the hotel was full but asked for my room number in case a room became free. As soon as I said room 182 he checked his computer again and found us a room in the newer part of the hotel and sent a porter to collect our luggage. The rest of the holiday was perfect but I am convinced something had happened in that room.

What made you think they were dead, if they were walking and crawling and that?

Definitely feel like we need a bit more information here before I'm a convert.

They looked in a very bad way - let's put it that way. But you know , nightmares and dreams never make sense do they? They were definitely all dead though.

Nothing Spooky. You had a bad dream - nothing unusual there really. You were probably woken up by the front door closing. Although dreams may seem quite long and detailed, they might only be a couple of seconds and the whole car crash thing was conjured up with the bang of the door.

Your son was most likely just sleepwalking, it's quite common in children after travelling, probably just got out of his bed during the night thinking he was at home or was walking into what he thought was your room and then had no recollection of it in the morning. He was probably stood outside for a couple of moments. Then the hotel gave you another room, probably nothing to do with the room number.

I'm not saying it wasn't a scary experience, I wasn't there and the idea of my children sleepwalking into a swimming pool is a scary thought. However, there is nothing paranormal about this.

Dreams are brilliant though. I like watching documentaries exploring how the mind works. I find sleep paralysis interesting, people can sometimes 'wake up' in the middle of the night but find themselves unable to move because there is a 'woman' sat at the end of the bed. They experience being frightened-stiff, or a poltergeist is sat on top of them. Most times, they tend to happen in places of unfamiliar surroundings, like in 300-year-old hotels or B&B's in Cornwall.

The other thing I find interesting about dreams is the experience of immediately waking up with the idea that it was really profound, when it wasn't. Its means nothing to anyone, other than yourself.

"I'm sorry, Sir, but I'm afraid there is no room 182 in this hotel!"

Then your wife turns to you slowly... "and Honey, we don't have a son..."

A bit of science to add to the debate.

Science doesn't matter to those who believe in such nonsense.

That's kind of the point of science.
Is it the point, or “kind” of the point.

Does science prove that climate change is real? If it does, why does the debate rage on?

Because you don’t believe in it, whatever it is, it’s nonsense. That’s very narrow minded.
