New corner stands
Wasn’t sure if we had a really bad 1st half or if the wind was to blame.
I wonder how much the new corner stands are affecting wind at that end. Bournemouth seemed untroubled In the first half.
Also, will we still have the bee hole disabled platform going forward? Surely the 2 new stands will be sufficient.

Re: New corner stands
I'm in the Bob Lord level with the 18 yard box at the Jimmy Mac end. We expected the new stands to reduce the wind. In fact they seem to have increased it. (Not just today either.)
My gripe is why are they such horrible colours? Haven't they heard of Claret and Blue?

Don't worry, the order has gone out to Barnfield and they will be painted in 2025.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 11:18 pmMy gripe is why are they such horrible colours? Haven't they heard of Claret and Blue?

Re: New corner stands
I think they look very smart. Would like to see the two older stands potentially redeveloped. This would smarten up the ground, and allow safe standing in the CFS, as well as a design to maximise atmosphere. Capacity does not need increasing at all, just the ground could be smartened for the years to come, especially as it would cost a fraction of what we pay for one player.
Re: New corner stands
At the very least I'm surprised they're not planning to extend the other end of the Bob lord stand even though they've got the plans drawn up.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 12:01 amI think they look very smart. So a yes so far
Re: New corner stands
Grey is perfect for the architectural elements... by all means use coloured additions, but using coloured structural elements is awful, leading to old, faded colours after 5 years.
Personally, I think the coloured details on the 2 newer stands are looking extremely tired...

Might have something to do with the fact that it was very windy.... and one corner of the ground is still quite open.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 11:18 pmI'm in the Bob Lord level with the 18 yard box at the Jimmy Mac end. The wind was to blame

Isn’t heavy wind always an issue in the BL?

No, not in my ten years there. It's definitely got worse since the disabled stands went up.

Re: New corner stands
I don't think they ever had plans drawn up. All they ever did was show a mock up picture. The other side was done because new office space was needed. What would you do with any new space if you built up on the other side?
Re: New corner stands
Potentially business space but I’m not sure if there is the demand in BurnleyClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 10:10 amI don't think they ever had plans drawn up. Re: New corner stands
Are Barnfield making the decision? HS2 got signed off quicker.
Re: New corner stands
There would appear to be very few options, so seems strange that they can't make a decision.

Didn't the club say they could do with more hospitality space?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 10:10 amI don't think they ever had plans drawn up. All they ever did was show a mock up picture. Also, it's a much nicer area as you go through the turnstiles in comparison to the other end, especially as it's all undercover in bad weather.

Re: New corner stands
Yes, but it wouldn't be hospitality space would it? It would be an area in that building with no view of the pitch and there are no seats in the stand where you could sit them as they do with the guests in the other Bob Lord rooms. That's the huge drawback with the Bob Lord, all the hospitality guests have to be found seats in the stand.

Re: New corner stands
I think they look really odd. Cannot understand why we didn't use the money (were they really £20m?) to extend the BL and have some fantastic disabled facilities in that stand.Sadly, can't see a further expansion of the BL stand now we've spent money on the corners - no justification when we're only pulling in 18k for a PL game.
When you look back at some of our old attendances, it's very disappointing to see empty seats now. I'd love to know the economics of extending and having cheaper ticket prices. At New Year, I had to buy some tickets for the Villa game for friends who were visiting. It was £100+ to take their family of 4. That's a lot and I'd love to know how our attendances would improve if kids under a certain age were free, adult tickets were £20, etc.

Re: New corner stands
It could be extended backwards, out over Harry Potts Way. The plans are there, so why not? Maybe getting regular gates much over the current 20,000 is thought unlikely and therefore a waste of money? However, putting in plastic seats would be a big improvement. That way, the guy with long legs behind me, wouldn't keep kicking me.

Re: New corner stands
Were they actually £20 million? It so that’s ridiculous. I do think the ground could be smartened up though while we have pl income. Hopefully the club has plans for the CFS and Bob Lord once sage standing is available.

Re: New corner stands
Some sprucing up of the concourse areas wouldn’t go amiss. Certainly the JH Upper concourse is looking very tired these days. I don’t see much point in extending the ground capacity though, the 22k (ish) is currently holds is ample 95% of the time.

Can't see the club making any ground improvements that will increase the ground capacity as long has we have the TV money.
