Hope that’s not another club chasing silly dreams it’s very tough in the lancs league as well as needing a decent pro you need a good crop of amuatuers good luck if true up the colne
Re: Lancs league new club
Could be more the league chasing the club rather than club chasing dreams.
Greenmount know a bit about decent professionals.
No idea if they have joined.

You MAY be right, but there were/are at least 2 other local-ish clubs wanting in also. I'm assuming whoever joins will not join until 2021 because as I understood it, the resignation of Milnrow came right on the deadline for resignations/applications making it impossible for any potential "new recruit" to resign from their league and apply for the Lancs in time for the 2020 season.

Re: Lancs league new club
It will be for 2021. My understanding is the LL want 3 clubs and approached greenmount to join. They have applied although they did have some reservations. Not sure on their final decision. Think there's one ribblesdale league club and one from another league. Guess palace shield / northern league.

Re: Lancs league new club
I BELIEVE I'm aware of who the three clubs are who want to join the LL. I knew Greenmount was one and obviously that is now public knowledge. The other 2 are both currently Rib League, and 1 I would have thought was something of a shoe in as it's a thriving club both on and off the field right now, but I don't want to name names in case it's either not accurate or not yet public knowledge.NL Claret wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 1:18 pmIt will be for 2021. Re: Lancs league new club
Cherry Tree and Read have been mentioned on twitter but not accepted last night.
Cherry would have recruit heavily to compete, Padiham bowled them out last year for 45 and they have lost their best player Florentine to the Lancs League. The clubhouse is outsourced but quite popular.
Read might attract a few ex players back if they go in, but losing Matt Walker is a big blow. Room to grow as a club though.

Other Leagues must really be a state, the " Lancashire League " has a great brand name though ... even so, some of the minor, weak clubs like Accrington, Rishton, East Lancs and Nelson will struggle this season ...

Re: Lancs league new club
As far as I know you're 50% correct there, but the other club I heard about whilst also thriving in every way, may have geography against it, bearing in mind that I also THINK the ultimate say about a club joining comes down to member clubs voting on a 1 vote per club basis.
Re: Lancs league new club
Padiham and Read are postage stamp size grounds. Padiham is excellent from a spectators point though.

Settle would make a good go of it and have the finances and players in place.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 7:16 pmAs far as I know you're 50% correct there, but the other club I heard about whilst also thriving in every way, may have geography against it, bearing in mind that I also THINK the ultimate say about a club joining comes down to member clubs voting on a 1 vote per club basis.

Re: Lancs league new club
But it would be a hell of a long way from say Littleborough or Middleton for example (or similar) and many clubs might just feel it's far too far in terms of travel. Since the arrival of the Manchester based clubs travelling times have definitely increased and this can impact on players availability and commitment.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 7:21 pmSettle would make a good go of it and have the finances and players in place.

In truth, whichever clubs you invite in will be a trek for some clubs. You snapped up all the big clubs in the local area last time.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 7:29 pmBut it would be a hell of a long way from say Littleborough or Middleton for example (or similar) and many clubs might just feel it's far too far in terms of travel. As far as I'm aware Padiham haven't expressed any interest and that kind of surprised me as it strikes me as yet another very go ahead club.

Isn't there a stupid rule in the recruiting like you have to have a car park where supporters can watch the game?Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 7:46 pmAs far as I'm aware Padiham haven't expressed any interest and that kind of surprised me as it strikes me as yet another very go ahead club.

If so it’s surely a new rule or changes have been made at Colne, East Lancs and Rawtenstall since I was las there.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 8:29 pmIsn't there a stupid rule in the recruiting like you have to have a car park where supporters can watch the game?

Re: Lancs league new club
I'm reliably informed that Greenmount haven't made their decision, that was as it was on Monday. They don't have to decide until June as mentioned earlier. Spoke to one lad in January (after Leicester game) , he was against it, spoke to another (after Soton game) he was all for it. Both are heavily involved in the club, I'd imagine the club would have to call an EGM to vote on it.

Re: Lancs league new club
I wonder if Read don't have a large enough playing area and that may be an issue to the LL, which would be a shame in many ways as it's a club doing well both on and off the field.

Just on votes. Same for Read, didn’t get enough votes.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 9:35 pmDo you know what they got rejected on or was is just votes from clubs?
Settle were knocked back prior to the vote on basis of geography.
Re: Lancs league new club
Greenmount is a postage stamp however the league approached them , went to the ground and asked them to apply.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 9:41 pmI wonder if Read don't have a large enough playing area and that may be an issue to the LL, which would be a shame in many ways as it's a club doing well both on and off the field.
On another note, a merger between Rawtenstall and Haslingden was mentioned in passing.

A merger between Rocky and Hazzy????? Bloody hell, that's a new one on me. I'd like to have seen the reaction to that idea when I was growing up in Waterfoot back in the 60's and 70's!!! Crumbs!!

Re: Lancs league new club
I wouldn’t think Greenmount would qualify. The ground is small. Makes Rawtenstall look like the MCG. Also it’s no enclosed. They’d have to fence at least along Brandlesholme rd side of the ground.

Can’t wait for the season to get underway even if the first and last month of the season is generally Baltic and not cricket weather!
Can’t beat being sat with friends and family with a picnic & cool bag and sampling different tea rooms and club houses.

Personally I don't think it would be a good thing for Padiham to move. If they were losing every week like Gt Harwood then the atmosphere around the place gets very subdued.

Yeah, expecting a long hard slog for Colne this summer with no new signings. Winning the league was great but not sure getting promoted was so good tbh.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 9:43 amThat's declaring war Lenny.

I think lenny will enjoy experiencing some new culture in division one. Places like Rochdale are a upgrade on East Lancs

Going off a few tweets it would appear that Greenmount have decided to join the LL for 2021.
