3 blank away performances and the fortunate home win over WHU.
The strikers look legless at the moment.

What's wrong with Liverpool doing well? At least it's not bragging Man U running away with the PL.

You are obviously too young to remember how they were Shankley-Paisley—Fagan-Evens-Dalgleash twenty year +

They made Arsenal fans look humble

God forbid it’s more than a one off.

Not that it’s gonna happen but if it did who would you rather win it? United? City with their oil millions? A London club? I’ll be delighted for them, it’s about time and if a big six wins it, as usual, then who better? Top club and better fans than most big six clubs.

I don't get all the anti-Liverpool stuff and quite what Shankly and Paisley, two of the finest managers I've seen in English football, have to do with it I don't know.

They'll win the league, they deserve to win the league and I'd rather them win it than anyone else up there near the top.

As for Scousers, they have been absolutely fantastic at the Turf this season with our food collections, both Everton and Liverpool and Dave Kelly from Everton was a massive help to me when we were setting up Clarets for Foodbanks. I'll be forever grateful to him and Ian Byrne (Liverpool) for all the help they gave us.

And to that ridiculous comment that they are hated by everyone. You want to take a long look at yourself making nonsensical comments like that.

Sorry bud that’s utter bollards. I will be delighted and so will many others, including some on here. Do you just go temporarily blind when someone posts support for them? Just because you don’t like them doesn’t mean everyone does, we don’t all share you glaringly obvious bias.

Absolutely agree with all of this. Among the big 6 no-one else I would have win it and it’s long overdue. Scousers are decent people and I would sooner have a scouser have my back in a crisis than most. My mum was at the bomb scared Grand National and she said the locals were magnificent making sure everyone was okay and giving food and drink. Love the city and it’s people.

Possibly there are too many people remember crossing Stanley Park after a night match to get to where PC Plod had unhelpfully parked the buses? Maybe outside Stanley Park, all scousers are wonderful; but inside Stanley Park, not so much.

The fact Liverpool and Everton don't have a rivalry quite like other cities tells you a lot about the people.

Fans are often from a family where half wear blue and half red.

Every team has their knobs and yes it's irritating that everyone on TV is connected with them but that's just Sky and BT targeting their audiences. Much the same as Leeds get far to much coverage being in the championship.

Nothing against them, nothing for them in my opinion but there's a lot worse in the league.

Scousers are kind hearted and generous to all opposition fans as long as they are not Cockneys,Mancs or Wools(anyone from Lancashire) and Leeds(most of the football world hate Dirty Leeds)
Their offspring will even offer to mind your car(for a small consideration )This is so you can watch the game safe in the knowledge that all the wheels will still be on it when you return.
But wobetide you ,if like we will do so this season, win at Anfield, then things get really nasty. I am fortunate to have taught in Liverpool and can put on a passable Scouse accent, which has served me well in the good old days when fans mixed together on the terraces
This was useful when Ian Brennans rocket helped us to a very rare win at the Theatre of Thieves.
All said, being brought up close to Merseyside,I dont begrudge the Scallies the title.
Sooner them than anyone else except the Super Clarets of course UTC

I remember similar happenings at Wednesday, Middlesbrough, Leeds, Villa, Hereford, Swindon, Lincoln (where there was hell on) Maine Road, United, Sunderland and so on.
Why aren't you saying the same about those populations?

So some people don't want a team that has been built (not bought) over many years and is fully self sufficient to win he league.

What are you looking for in a city then? Liverpool has some great bars and places to eat and lots to do.

I've lived in a lot of cities around the world and Liverpool is definitely the friendliest and most welcoming of all of them. Good people. I don't begrudge them winning the league this year at all and am happy that the team which plays the most fun and exciting football of all the big 6 is getting its rewards.

I can't say I've ever thought of cities that way - just know I'm not that enamoured with Liverpool or many of its inhabitants.

Not only do I remember those days... I was related to Roy Evens through marriage.

He was lovely.... they’re fans at the time were NOT

Edit - and before I’m accused of name dropping I’m long divorced, and the ex-wife was very much marmite when she used to write on this board... Tony for example couldn’t stand her.... wish I’d seen what he did, earlier.

Why would I want Arsenal to win it... I do not understand your logic at all.

Sorry.

The ONLY club I want to win the title is Burnley... way below come the least bad in order. United fans were not bad, in the early years.... I was living five minutes walk away in Salford at the time... and they were not half as Liverpool fans... who each acted as though they had been Alan Kennedy’s personal trainer... et al.

Like I mentioned to Your pal... nothing against the team. They were mind boggling, and with close family connections to Roy Evans and more distant to Dalgleash (auntie tutored his kids in Southport)... it is not based on blind hatred for ‘Liverpool’ just how vile and arrogant the vast majority of their fans I encountered... including personal friends and colleagues.

I was talking REALISTICALLY mate. Everyone on here would like Burnley to win the title but we all no it isn't going to happen. Considering SOMEONE has to win it and it is almost certainly going to be one of the big six (Leiciester excepted) who would you want to win it - it's a simple question, no need to try to logic it out bud. I personally don't want a London club to win it, or United. I don't mind City but they have had more than their fair share of 'luxury' so the only other realistic club is Liverpool. Bearing in mind they have been the standard bearers of English football for years and brilliantly so there is no-one other than us I would want as Champions (and it ain't gonna be us any time soon is it).

As for their fans I love 'em. Scousers are decent but much maligned people and the fans of BOTH clubs there I have found to be both knowledgeable and fair (mostly). I think it is odd that Liverpool get so much stick on here because it is a great place with (for me) excellent people. I think that their wit sometimes comes accross as arrogance and maybe that is what many people don't get, but if you listen they put themselves down a great deal, it's not a coincidence that the city has produced so many great comedians.

I remember similar happenings at Wednesday, Middlesbrough, Leeds, Villa, Hereford, Swindon, Lincoln (where there was hell on) Maine Road, United, Sunderland and so on.
Why aren't you saying the same about those populations?
The thread title is "Scousers" - that's why I'm talking about Scousers.

Ah Steve, I came out of the closet years ago and...oops...sorry...wrong site.

On a slightly more serious note I get what you're saying about being attacked mate and that was bad, but Burnley have had their fair share of dickheads in the past and even now probably, as have most football clubs all over the world. I had no less than 3 rubbish encounters with Forest fans years ago but I don't dislike Forest or it's fans (or the city - had a fabulous p!ssed night out there a few months ago). Every club has it's idiots (I know you remember what United fans used to be like before they got all corporate) but that for me is not a reason to dislike them all. My personal experience with Scousers, even away from football, has been nothing but good, and that is, in the end, all you can go off I suppose.

Incidentally you must remember the scrapes we got into sometimes back in the 70's - a few bevvies in the Crown then over to the Turf where anything went. Looking back it was all a bit stupid but it was fun at the time.
