Mourinho :Choose Burnley or Leipzig
Mourinho :Choose Burnley or Leipzig
Mourinho is saying that he can't focus on both games so the board are going to have to decide which game is more important.

Mind games. But if he had to choose one he would choose our game.
They haven’t the firepower to win the champions league. But they could edge over the line for the top four or five.

They’ve got a whole stack of injuries. Few more last night. Plus Dier kicking off with fans. Fancy us on Saturday.

I was thinking the same.....there's no way they'll win the Champions League so really their priority should be to try and finish as high as they can in the Premier League because they're definitely not guaranteed to be in Europe next season.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 8:38 amMind games. Re: Mourinho :Choose Burnley or Leipzig
There's me thinking it was one match at a time!
A normal season in the Championship!
Players play one match, lose and he says, we concentrate on Leipzig. Win (unlikely!) and he says they have delivered as asked. Now a free shot at Leipzig.
Crap management.

Lets not get too overconfident.
He’ll do his usual Turf trick, playing a big man (6ft 2 Dier) in front of the back four to soak up all our long balls. It’ll work as usual if Dyche plays Wood and Jayrod. Would much prefer Vydra for that reason. Mourinho has Dyche sussed when we are at home.

It's such a shame the way Mourinho behaves because he is without doubt a really good manager and if he cut out all the crap he would have a lot of fans I believe. He is what he is though I suppose. Despite all that I do actually quite like him - there's something quite childlike about him. I wonder if he really believes his own hype or if it is a cover for insecurity? I suspect the latter.

Re: Mourinho :Choose Burnley or Leipzig
Usual pathetic nonsense from Mourinho.
The sooner he is sacked the better - maybe other clubs will realise he is a busted flush and we finally get to see the back of him in this country.
Spurs are on the precipice at the moment - failure to make the champions league and the prospect of having to pay off Mourinho at a £30m to £40m cost together with that big half a billion loan for the new stadium hanging over them puts the club in a very different place. And that’s before the likes of Kane and Son decide it’s time to move on.
Lovely stuff !

He sat in the Bob Lord with the fans and a couple of minders before one Utd game the other year. Can’t think of many current premier league managers that still do that these days.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 10:13 amLets not get too overconfident.

That would be a real bonus for us.
As far as I can recall, Burnley under all managers have only ever scored 4 goals against a Mourinho team. That will be the hard bit.

I fail to see this great man manager, every club he's been at he eventually falls out with his squad. A breath of fresh air when he first landed in this country, all he leaves now is a bad smell. You learn more about people, players or managers, when things are going badly, than you do when things are going well.
When they are winning he's a genius, when they are losing the players aren't good enough

Re: Mourinho :Choose Burnley or Leipzig
Sometimes I think people forget just what he has achieved over the years, especially at Porto who are not the richest club in the world. He took over there when they were 5th in the league and got them to 3rd before winning the championship twice and lifting the Champions League trophy. The rest is history. Read an interveiw once where he actually said he hates the media interviews and in the pre-game ones he says he is already thinking about the game and doesn't really want to be bothered. I can sympathise there because the way managers are forced into the pre-match interview is just another PL attempt at making it more like 'entertainment'. I personally don't give a toss about them and never watch them, even Dyche's.tim_noone wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 11:40 amI also like Mourinho ..he doesn't like the media and pundits alike....these days in interview he plays with them I like that.on the managerial side hes top drawer and a winner. Mourinho is an attention seeker whose way of management has been well and truely found out. A ridiculous man who really thinks he can play clever mind games. Doesnt seem to realise that everyone is laughing at him.

I was sat a couple of rows behind him, was with his kid if I can recall, there were loads of us getting his autograph at half time. Think it was in Waffles season, Tuesday night, could've been against Wrexham.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 1:25 pmI mean its the Bob Lord, its not the Stretford End.

Talked to hartson and he was very positive about us. Sure he said his dad or father in law had a soft spot for us from the sixties. Maybe to do with Leighton James?
Funny thing is week before we saw a bergkamp lookalike. So when I told my mate we were behind hartson he said ‘that bergkamp lookalike was a better one last week’

Re: Mourinho :Choose Burnley or Leipzig
I grew to hate him when he was at Manchester United but once he was gone the league wasn't as interesting and I missed his antics and mind games.
He's like the pantomime villain. Everyone hates him but if it wasn't for him things would be so boring.
Plus he has a lot tactically in common with Dyche so I'm sure he appreciates how we set up. Unfortunately for us that tends to result in him knowing exactly how to nullify us too.
I don't expect anything, but it's certainly a good time to play them.

Re: Mourinho :Choose Burnley or Leipzig
I still think he is a great manager but he is troubled by himself I think. I believe at the right club he would be great again but his temperment seems a bit suspect and if things are not to his liking at the club he tends to lose it a bit. The worst career move he has ever made was going to United - it has been the graveyard of one or two good managers over the years. I don't know what it is there but I suspect it is going to be so until Fergie cuts all ties, I think he is still a massive influence there and maybe people feel awkward by his presence.
