Park View
Re: Park View
They've already said they won't be doing food anyway. No reason it can't attract the locals in through the week if the beer is decent and sensibly priced and they have the footy on, darts team etc.

Re: Park View
Well if it means the local sniff brigade move out of the underground car park in town, then it's probably another positive imo!!
Re: Park View
Give it 12 months and I think BFC will buy from them, as they could not agree terms with the last owners i believe. So win win situation.

Nowt wrong with Keys. It attracted the sniff brigade before it was taken over and done up. But it's a decent boozer now.

No pubs survive today without putting decent food on and definitely wont survive without employing a decent chef.will give it 12-18 months.

Nobody to sing songs at 100mph if they are all still in the park view instead of the Cricketfield stand.Longsidelenny wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 11:21 amWe don’t want the sniff brigade in burnley on match days utc

Not doing food could be a good thing. Plenty of places do food. It’s one less thing for them to think about / get wrong.
Packing it on match day with drinkers will offer far higher margins.

The things you can do with a tiny chippy!Claretforever wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 8:09 pmThese were posted on the pubs Facebook page last week. New cladding around the place, fresh colour scheme, ‘walls’ taken out, new carpet more than likely. Someone says they’re putting the men’s toilets where the kitchen was, but I’m not sure. Big screens and Sky TV going in I understand. Not doing food.
I would never have believed it possible!

Re: Park View
As well as what people have mentioned above me, the Park View has a thriving chip shop and pie shop on the corners across from it for match days.sanderson370 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:01 pmNo pubs survive today without putting decent food on and definitely wont survive without employing a decent chef.will give it 12-18 months.
It’s not in a great place to offer food. The only time I saw anybody (more than an odd person) eating in there previously was on a match day. The diners complained it was too packed and people were bumping into their chairs. The drinkers complained there wasn’t enough room. The staff couldn’t cope with either. It’s in the wrong location to get people within 10 min walk to go for food. This town does not need another food pub, there are plenty, and in better locations. If the pub fails I can’t see it being because they don’t do food.

Re: Park View
Just gone past and it’s looking very good inside and soon to be outside. Looks far better than before. Amazing how negative people were with some even saying it should be bulldozed.
Amazing what a bit of hard work and thought can do.
Opens Friday. Good luck to them. Well done getting it done so quickly.

Looking forward to going back in on Saturday. Been going in the fanzine since it shut but will return to the pub as long as the beer and prices are decent.

Re: Park View
One positive about it is the fact that they are not changing its name - has always been the Park View (other than that short period when someone called it the Lounge) and good to see it reopens with its original name.
It was my first local but that was a few years ago. There was only the stone part of the building then.

Re: Park View
Some years ago I used to go in the Park View/Lounge before and after the match. It was a good pub with a good atmosphere but for me the problem was getting served at the bar, it could take an age even to get to the bar. I hope the have plenty of bar staff on this Saturday. Anyway, I hope it does well, Burnley needs some good pubs.
