brioche
Was in Waitrose earlier today. To the guy at the bread counter. When pronouncing brioche, please bear in mind the h is directly after the c and not the o. Thank you.

Bloody horrible bread, brioche, especially with a burger. It ruins it.

Re: brioche
Brioche is too sweet for a burger. I guess it depends on the Brioche, or how you like your burger. That said, Brioche can easily be made into a cake. Enough said really. I don't like it. Seen Brioche in the cake aisle and the bread aisle. What sorcery is this?

Re: brioche
They sell brioche in Aldi/Lidl, yet it's not so long ago that some loonbag on here was banging on about how only chavs shopped there.
Brioche is too sweet and taste crap when used as a burger bun. In fact I'm not keen on it with anything. If I want my bread to taste sweet I'll put some jam or marmalade on it.

No one has mentioned the fact that PPP shops in Waitrose yet...
PPP can’t be a local.
I’m not allowed to talk when my wife drags me around Waitrose, just in case we get banned

I've saved £10,000 on shopping with The Big Save Challenge at Lidl.
By never going in there. Waitrose all the way. Never seen a chav in there.

There can’t seriously be a Waitrose in Burnley ? can there ?
Brioche is indeed for Ponces and it’s an aberration when used with a burger , file under smashed avacado and Brighton FC .Though call it a “ bun” and people would love em,not unlike quiche , call it ham n egg pie and all is well

I didn't order any Brioche on this occasion. I ordered a Stonebaked White Boule fresh from the bakery. Was a very delicious flavoursome loaf of bread.

If Burnley do get one, it means I can move back North. It’s one of the criteria along with having a 6 figure salary...

Yes the one at Walton le Dale I frequent. Never seen any ponces in there. Just well mannered hard working people who like to treat themselves to the best things. The wine section is something else. Give it a try. You won’t visit Aldi ever again.

Re: brioche
You may mock Aldi, Pushpinpussy but their Belgian Pate, Frikadellen and Bratwursts are exceptionally good.
Re: brioche
Waitrose is a poor man's Booths.
Also brioche is bobbins as a burger bun. Give me a pretzel bun every day of the week.

Re: brioche
Booths is why there aren't many Waitrose in Lancashire. There aren't any Booths south of Knutsford. They are pretty much all in Lancashire and cumbria - a few in Yorkshire and north Cheshire. It's the only area of England where there aren't a nice lot of Waitrose.
Here's something I found trawling.
"According to Savills, properties located within the same postcode as a Waitrose outlet are on average 25% more expensive than the average property in their county."
Nonetheless, there is still a Waitrose in Hailsham.
Anyhow, while I almost enjoy shopping for certain items that I can't get in Morrisons or Tesco in Waitrose (or Booths), I draw the line at M and S. That's just a big rip-off and the adverts p1ss me right off at xmas.
My Favourite supermarkets are Jempsons and Hello Jumbo.
And I like Brioche bread. Preferably as a whole loaf that I can tear bits off and put unsalted butter on.

Re: brioche
Brioche falls into the category of style over substance when it comes to a good burger. It is part of that whole ethos of arranging the food on your plate to be as tall as possible nonsense. The same principle that led us to jenga chip towers and bits of cress or edible flowers carefully piled up with tweezers.
Fine dining is arguably one of the biggest cons of modern days times, convincing diners that paying 4 times the amount for 1/4 of the food is a good deal. Here is your small piece of boiled in a bag meat ( sorry delicately poached in a water bath to keep it succulent ), no carbohydrates, a tiny dot or smear of sauce, some foaming cuckoo spit and a sprinkle of pickled pomegranate. We have included a local takeaway menu so you can call in on your way home because you will probably still be hungry.

Good wholesome food, cooked to heighten the flavour and served in respectable portions is what I look for. Sadly, places that serve such food are a rarity these days. I should maybe move to Italy, when they start letting people back in.
