There are many different kinds of carp. When Noah collected two of each kind, did he stack them in separate tanks in a multi-storey carp ark?

Would it set a new personal best in nit-picking to point out that the Ark didn't carry fish at all? The fish weren't too badly affected by getting wet!Im_not_Robbie_Blake wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 3:15 pmThere are many different kinds of carp. This is one of those things I ask myself subconsciously. How do they know? I've started answering them back now. They'll say 'Good morning, welcome to so and so I'm Louise and this is Dan'. I'll shout 'Morning guys, wassup?!'
Missus thinks I'm daft but then they tell me wassup!

I can live without broth on Master Chef, but how Greg Wallace got and subsequently kept his presenting job on the show is destined to be an eternal mystery. They should have sent him packing when he initially described himself as a Fruit and Veg Maestro ( yes he did ).

Ugly eater, bulldog chewing a wasp - check

I'm waiting for the Pot Noodle round. You have 30 minutes to get rid of the synthetic taste and make it palatable. If you can make it healthy as well you get bonus points.

Well obviously.
My guess is they are still there as particles when they are not being observed - who knows. Wonder if I get a physics prize for that conjecture

I asked my ex this. Her rationale was if the cubicles are full, one can stand guard as the other uses it and then she has first dibs on said cubicle. there's logic in there somewhere.

Apparently the particles collapse into a quantum state (whatever that is). This is why they hunted so long for the Higgs bosun because it appears to be the thing that gives sense to reality.atlantalad wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 1:02 amWell obviously.

I've been interested in this stuff for 30-odd years and I wish I had the intelligence to even begin to make sense of it. I know a young guy who attended Manchester Uni studying phgysics and he had the pleasure to be in a couple of lectures by Brian Cox, he said whatever people might think of him as a TV personality his intelligence is unbelievable. Even he (the young man in question) didn't understand half of what he was saying and he was studying the damn subject.
PS: my only meeting with the great man was back in the 80s before he was even musically famous, in a local band in Oldham called Dare. We got well p!ssed and the subject of quantum physics never came up.

At CERN, they have the Large Hadron Collider where they smash atomic particles together to see what happens. (Higgs Bosun) What I don't understand is how they put these particles in the collider in the firsrt place. Maybe I'm just thick?

Re: Interesting questions!!!!!!
The life forms that Humans refer to as Mice (singular: Mouse) are, unbeknownst to mankind, the most intelligent species on Earth, and not actually native to the planet. They are in fact hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional creatures whose rodent aspect represents merely a three-dimensional projection of their actual form.
Billions of years ago, they have been responsible for creating the supercomputer known as Deep Thought, and also for hiring the Magratheans to build the planet that would become known as Earth - actually an even more impressive and massive supercomputer designed by Deep Thought.
Biology:
It has been noted that their physical manifestation in their own dimension isn't dissimilar to out own, implying that they could be described as humanoid. It's possible that they can grow extra limbs, as this is required by the rules of Brockian Ultra-Cricket, which they play.
Culture and society:
Despite being a tremendously advanced civilization, the inhabitants of the higher dimensions have been described as brutal, which can be observed in their favorite pastime of Brockian Ultra-Cricket. Not only is this game based on memories of the Krikkiters' galactic wars of devastation (much the same as Earth cricket), but it's also indiscriminately violent, as it basically consists of hitting opponents with any object available and then running away to apologize through a megafone.
Curiously, however, members of this pan-dimensional species also appear to be a deeply philosophical lot, so much that before the creation of Deep Thought they would often find themselves bickering about the meaning of life and existence, and such discussions often went as far as to interrupt their Ultra-Cricket matches, much to their own frustration.

Re: Interesting questions!!!!!!
Interesting - why does the moon not rotate about its axis as it circles Earth.
Also the moon may be a thin disc and - may not have craters on the "dark" side because there is no light to see if they are any.

Re: Interesting questions!!!!!!
It does rotate but it is 'tidally locked'. This means that it rotates at exactly the same time it takes to circle the Earth. If it didn't rotate you would see the 'other side' as well.atlantalad wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 1:19 amInteresting - why does the moon not rotate about its axis as it circles Earth.

Incidentally the reason the moon appears to be the same size as the sun in our sky is because the sun is 400 times wider than the moon but, coincidentally, 400 times further away. Fascinating eh?

Re: Interesting questions!!!!!!
I’ve long thought that as a weapon of war a country could send up a satellite and open up, when needed, an obstruction directly between the sun and the intended target.
Plunging them into total darkness for the long term.

Re: Interesting questions!!!!!!
I could see some potential difficulties with this Trev. Said weapon would have to hang somewhere in the sky to cause the blackout, whilst at the same time allowing for the rotation of the Earth. Otherwise it's a great idea. Oh by the way, what would people die of...depression?Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 2:18 pmI’ve long thought that as a weapon of war a country could send up a satellite and open up, when needed, an obstruction directly between the sun and the intended target.

Exactly the opposite has also been proposed. Huge sun reflectors positioned around the globe giving the world permanent daylight.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 2:18 pmI’ve long thought that as a weapon of war a country could send up a satellite and open up, when needed, an obstruction directly between the sun and the intended target.

I'd be intrigued how many satellites are orbiting earth now. Surely the amount must increase the chances of being hit by a stray space rock or do they have the capability to manoeuvre them to avoid collision?
