Just read a good suggestion - sorry if already mentioned elsewhere. Instead of repeats of Mrs Browns Boys (whatever that is. Never watched it ), why not replace MOTD with classic matches from the past ?

you'd have to ask the BBC why that isn't possible,i assume they still own the rights,they usually have footage on both MOTD and MOTD 2 of either funny incidents,famous goals or on this day features,so the material would be there if they so desired,sadly it appears they'd rather wheel out Mrs Browns Boys for the umpteenth repeat.-

Watched Robert the Bruce yesterday. Supposedly a follow-up to Braveheart (same actor playing him that played him in that film). Honest crtique:-
Robert himself only appears most of the time either sitting in his legendary cave watching his legendary spider or recovering from injury.
One or two very minor skirmishes involving half a dozen blokes.
Appallingly bad Scottish accents from the (mainly) American cast.
Filmed almost entirely in Montana, USA.
Lot's of very mean and moody staring and muttering.
If you want an action film don't even think about this one.
Now don't get me wrong, this is probably a very factual sort of film and maybe tells a decent story (certainly more historically accurate than Braveheart, which wasn't) but at pretty much 2 hours in length it is not 'film as entertainment' as much as a bit of a history lesson. It's not a BAD film as such, it's just, well, a tad boring.
Robert himself only appears most of the time either sitting in his legendary cave watching his legendary spider or recovering from injury.

We watched the remake of 'The Lion King' very good, and directed by the same bloke that did 'The Jungle Book' a couple of years ago.

I saw a bit of that and we couldn't decide if we'd actually watched it before. Looks good though (how did they get those animals to do what the cartoon characters did?). My wife is convinced we'd watched it before on our 'other' facility (that isn't Sky).
Was disappointed in Robert the Bruce but if you like a fairly slow moving and probably historically accurate-ish film then maybe you might enjoy. It plods along and portrays him as a man of the people (which he may well have been) but it gets dragged down with his relationship (real or fictitious I don't know) with a peasant family. One thing I did learn at the very end (on the credits) was that he never lost touch with the people and never owned or built a castle, preferring to spend his time with villagers and his men. What little action there is in it is actually quite gruesome though.

In light of many companies talking about, or actually, laying off staff (eg BA etc), perhaps the BBC will do the same with Big Ears and the whole MOTD entourage. It will save the licence payer many thousands. Then pick up with new presenters afresh when this is all over and the Prem restarts (in 2021 at this rate!)
