Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
We may as well do, no sport worth watching on tv for the next month or so. Sky and BT refusing to do any refunds I believe ?
Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
I will be on 17th of March, but that's as my contract is upon 2nd of April and I'm cutting back on the £180 pcm I give them.
Hoping to halve that and get one of those other services most people seem to use.
I will miss sky as I love the pause, rewind , record and series link functions aswell as the belting picture.
But it's getting ridiculous now as I only watch sport, the other 954 channels I pay for dont get watched

Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
THIS! Their basic package is basically the same as Freeview and they charge extortionate amounts for it. Not just them, they all do. Virgin, BT et al. I can't justify spending that kind of money when we only watch a handful of channels. There's always ways around watching the football.
Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
Last week I was stupid enough to buy a NOW TV month pass for Sky Sports, mainly for the Masters and the Test series coming up. Timed that well didn't i

Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
I pay £70 a month and even that is a lot more than most people seem to pay for Entertainment + Sports package.
I'm with TalkTalk for the Broadband, so the £70 doesn't include that.
I'm on a month-to-month contract, so might as well cancel Sky Sports.

Sorry, but I don't understand why anyone subscribes to these channels. They must sit in front of the telly for hours.

Have just cancelled mine and gone over to BT TV still got Sky Movies, Sport etc and all the channels I watched on Sky for just over 1/2 the cost.MACCA wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 9:31 amI will be on 17th of March, but that's as my contract is upon 2nd of April and I'm cutting back on the £180 pcm I give them.

Its dropped from £92.50 to £60 (its 1/2 the cost because I now have BT sport HD included instead of an extra £15 a month on top of the Sky sub)
I can pause and rewind live TV & record 2 channels just as I could with Sky....
OK at the moment very little Sport but that will change...
But how come yours was £180 a month m8???

Anyone who pays Sky money these days are being taken for a ride big style.
Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
Agree. Gave up on Sky a few years ago because they wouldn’t fix my box for free and wanted to charge me £60. They offered to do it for free plenty of times since but in that time have lost thousands of pounds they would have had from me.Aside from this not sure how some people have hours and hours free to watch every sporting event and match on tv.Im_not_Robbie_Blake wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 10:34 amSorry, but I don't understand why anyone subscribes to these channels. Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
If the Darts is also cancelled, which I imagine it will be, then there's not really any point me having it, even if there's a reduction in price.
As I'm on a rolling contract, I wonder if now is the best time to see what they can offer me for the overall package.
I quite fancy having the Sky Q in 2 rooms, as I don't have that.
Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
FactualFrank. I think the directors at Sky will already have started having in house meetings about the impact this could cause to their business. There's no harm ringing them to discuss a better deal but as you say without darts- sport you may decide otherwise. They might tempt you with a reduction and a free Sky Q box. I think they'll have already earmarked or allowed a percentage for losing some customers between now and the next few weeks, say early April, by then we'll all have a better idea as to whether the postponement continues. At that point if the ban does continue I think Sky will be more concerned and looking at offering some real reductions and offers. Incidentally my contract comes to an end in a few weeks so I'll be testing the water with them.
Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
I've got sky Q in 2 rooms, the top package, all channels HD, sky VIP member, have the "breakdown type cover" and best broadband they provide with a booster on the top and bottom floor.
Phones with unlimited calls and all the shebang that goes with them.
I've done it so theres no hidden extras or extra call charges etc..
Its basically all in and unlimited use for all the family

How much extra is another Sky Q box and I understand it all connects via Wi-Fi so no need for any cable to go through the wall?
What's the benefit of the Sky VIP member and how much for the breakdown cover?

Firstly let me make you aware I'm sh1t with technology and its terminology.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 4:30 pmAt the moment, I use Magic Eye so I can watch TV in my bedroom, with the older HD box.

Yes it's all done via on sky Q the boxes are all linked so if you record on 1 it sends it to the other.
It can record about 3 live things at once and can store thousands of hours of TV.
No cables at all required other than the 1 that goes to the main box that's always been there.
Sky VIP? Not a clue, sends offers on bits and pieces usually via email.
Breakdown cover just allows you unlimited engineer call outs for tv, broadband issues should the arise.
Due to my lack of knowledge, I'm one of them blokes that just says yes, yes, yes with every offer and extra.
As long as my bill is X amount with no hidden extras I'm happy.
Very much a creature of habit.

FactualFrank. They offered us skyQ free of charge but £20 installation about 18 months ago but when they came to install it told us you can't use skyQ with the magic eye, the only way round it was to subscribe to multi room, we declined and have stuck with the sky plus hd box.

Yeah, I understand that to be the case too. That's why I'm mentioning a second Sky Q box, as assumed I'd need an extra one.beddie wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 4:55 pmFactualFrank. The Sky Plus HD seems to be fine, to be fair, so not actually sure I need a Sky Q, I just thinking it might end up being cheaper to sign a new contract and have 2 Sky Q boxes included.
Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
I had sky Q fitted it was free for the box and a mini box with £20 fitting, got another box which cost £60 I think, pay £52 a month .
Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
Gonna p!ss people off now, my Sky Q package costs me £0... it was free for 18 months through my broadband provider (See The Light) I get full entertainment package but no sports, that’s no problem for me though, I have a season ticket to watch my team

Yes the 30 day notice is a problem plus the fact it is nearly impossible to get through to them !

Mines £60 a month for everything but movies. I have 2 sky q mini boxes. Won’t be cancelling sports, won’t be asking Burnley for money back on my season ticket.
What I might do is ask for movies whilst there’s no sport.

Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
This is the problem with sky though. And must be a nightmare for their customer services and billing teams. There is no consistent price.
One man could be paying £60 for the same product someone’s paying £100+ and others less than £60.
In my eyes it should be more regulated and standardised.

I get what you're saying, but usually length of time with them, and what other services you have plays a part too.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 7:49 amThis is the problem with sky though. Also they seem to have a new offer on every month or 2, so soon as you sign up a new offer could come out giving someone else a better or worse deal.
I hate flights for same reason, 1 person pays £100, the next day and 50 bookings later its £150, same with trains etc.
They're all out to milk as mush out of you as possible.
If Sky can get £100 out of you will, but equally theyd rather have £50 than nothing.
Once you're set up or existing customer, it costs nothing more to them to flick a switch to allow you certain channels or packages whether that be for £50 or £100.
They just see the £ signs

We do have 4 phones though, so that probably pumps it up for us too.
Like I said I were pulling out regardless of whether sport got cancelled or not, just dont want to keep giving sky £180 a month.
It's just not worth it in my opinion to keep signing up to these lengthy contracts

Personally I see "panic" cancellation of Sky and other products not to Dissimilar to "panic" buying in supermarkets....both will Have a knock on effect to others. But the panic buyers are seen as ****... Whereas the cancelling of Sky etc. Is seen as being smart/thrifty. Both will Impact on other people...and both are being done for selfish reasons.

Re: Anyone cancelled their Sky Sports Subscription ?
I literally didn't know you could spend £180 a month on sky. Now tv fibre and tv package deal with 3 boxes round the house £22.99, (kids, movies and entertainment package) sky sports mobile on my iPad £9.99, bt sports mobile on my iPad/pc free with bt mobile phone contract. (Which costs £15)
I used to waste so much money too, but think I have stripped costs back as far as possible without sacrificing anything except watching football on an actual TV ( or resorting to stealing).
As for cancelling sky, I'll give it a month and see where we are. I certainly won't keep paying indefinitely if there's no sport...and no that isn't the same as selfishly stockpiling.

MACCA is entitled to spend as much as he likes on SKY without all this negative comment. We all have different ways of spending that others would not countenance.

Currently have all channels, movies/sports/box sets, on Sky Q, pay £35 per month.
