Xbox One X
I'm contemplating getting one of these bad boys, but wondering which one to get. Which do you recommend?
One one side, I've been brought up with Playstations and preferred them over the Xbox. The PS also has the VR headsets which interests me.
On the other side of the coin, my nephews have the Xbox One and want to be able to play network games against me, such as Fifa 20.
For those who have the PS, what's the VR headsets like and what games would you recommend?
For those who have the Xbox One, what games do you like?

Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
I have both and to be fair there not much between them. Possibly PS is slightly more user friendly but Xbox online play is smoother and less susceptible to drop outs/issues.
Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
The new versions of each are out in September/October so I would either wait until then and get 1 of those, or give it a little more time as the current crop will drop in price.
Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
The ps4 VR headset is great once you have it all set up but it requires another small box connected to your ps4 and wires and connectors trailing from the console to the headset and the missus insists I disconnect it all after use as ' looks messy' just sat on top of the console. You will also need wireless hand controllers for the full experience.
Having said that it is an awesome piece of kit and really does immerse you in the game. Until Dawn - Rush of Blood and Resident evil are pretty scary games in VR land.

And what games do you think are best for online network play?

10 years ago X boxers were everywhere telling us how great their console was and how much better it was than their Playstation rival.
I can't say I've heard one brag for quite a few years now.

Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
I have a PS4 which works well - The only drawback I find now is that many games rely on having a subscription which is annoying as I don't play online with friends (which is what most of the kids do)

Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
The online features of both will work with relatively low broadband speeds <4mbs but in terms of stability the PS network tends to be quite crashy and just boots you out at someFactualFrank wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 2:34 pmAny minimum recommended Internet speed?

Points, don’t have that on the Xbox.
I had the Xbox first and
Only bought the PS4 for Gran Turismo which is miles better than Forza. Ended up replaying similar games in the PS4 and if I’m pushed can’t really tell
The difference between the 2 in that respect. I find the PS menu easier to navigate than the Xbox and that’s
Coming from someone who’s been on the Xbox side for a while.
It’s really 6 and half a dozen between them. Games are similarly priced aswell. The Xbox online store maybe a little better with deals for games.

Is there a big difference between them?

Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
Yes in terms of processing power and graphics. The X can match a pretty decent PC and can run HDR images.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 4:05 pmThanks. What about the different Xbox... there is the S and X that I've seen.

Is it worth the extra £100? Probably if you have a 4K TV to match.
Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
I have the Xbox OneX and find it offers everything i need from a multimedia system. It holds its own on the gaming side if not beating the PS4 in some cases, but comes in to its own for 4k and Dolby Atmos Films and Games. Also for some reason which I have not found as yet, Apps like Spotify, Youtube , Netflix all seem to sound a lot better when played through the X.

Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
Hi FactualFrank. I have a PS4 and generally prefer it over the Xbox in terms of the menu layout which has already been mentioned. In terms of actual gaming performance, there's little difference between them. I don't have much time to play anymore but games I've very much enjoyed include Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs, Valiant Hearts, DayZ, The Last of Us, Wolfenstein, Fallout 4, and Read Dead Redemption 2.
Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
COD Modern Warfare 2
Battlefield 5
All of the Halo games
Forza
Fifa 20
Games with Dolby Atmos are so much easier and clearer to play, and you can hear people approaching form which direction and how close.
But remember you get 3 free games per month as part of your membership plus deals on all other games.
I also find the 4k demos and films through you tube with Dolby Atmos the ultimate swing.

Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
I've got the PS4 with VR.
In terms of VR games then "Rush of Blood" is off the scale. Mrs Croydon didn't even make it past the opening credits, she was so scared
Resident Evil Bio Hazard is also pretty cool.
I've also got Ace Combat 7 which is really good in VR mode despite them hiding the fact that only the first 2 levels are VR
Couple of things to note about VR
1) The graphics aren't as good as the non VR games, presumably due to the processing power required to render everything
2) It's very intensive and tiring. After a short time you need to stop as you'll be mentally burnt out and often you just crave a standard game as you need to be "up" for a VR game

Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
Just go with the franchises you prefer. I'll always buy PlayStation because I'm a Gran Turismo fan.
When the new consoles hit the shops you'll be able to buy either cheaper than now so you could plan to buy a PS5 in the future and a One X dead cheap at the same time... Or vice versa.
Or be sensible and buy a gen behind each time to save money.

Be warned though, these are real time burglars, if that's what you're after ok, another option would be to learn a musical instrument which is much more rewarding.

Both are fine.
Both use the hardware available at the time and try to match eachother's price so there's always very little between them.
Now PC gaming...

Re: Xbox One or Playstation 4?
Like a lot of others I have both and a PSVR.
Would definitely go for a PS4 myself - the exclusive games are miles better IMO.
The only game I ever play on my Xbox is Forza Horizon 4.

Now for my next question: What's the best place to buy an Xbox One from?
Amazon, or a high street?

I would absolutely recommend getting PES 2020.
By a long shot the best football game about.

I was thinking the same. I'd prefer the PS normally, but being able to play against my nephews and chat to them via headset too, swings it very much in the Xbox favour. At least for the summer.

I went back and it had sold out.
So gone for one from Curry's for similar price. Arriving tomorrow morning.
Am I correct in saying Fifa 20 can be bought and downloaded straight away?
