Is This The End Of Huge Wages For Footballers
Is This The End Of Huge Wages For Footballers
When the currant climate ends and football returns(could be a long time)will the levels of money be the same,or will every player have to take a big drop in wages.
Re: Is This The End Of Huge Wages For Footballers
I was wondering this too. Clubs may want to be more cautious. People will realise they don’t need Sky or it’s not that important. Huge wages that aren’t in line with a proper business model and reliance on one main media outlet. It doesn’t stack up.

If the money being pumped into game decreases then, yes, most certainly.

Like the bankers there will be a short term hit, then back to business as usual raking it in.

Sion in Switzerland have sacked 9 players for refusing to take a pay cut. Including former Gooners Song & Djourou.
This could get messy.

The government should introduce an 'emergency' income tax rate of 100% on all annual income above £100,000

Out of contract players could stay out of contract for a while. If ever there was a time for running with what you have and cutting costs this is it.

How do you see the economy in 12 months time ?
The cut in intetest rates yesterday was the last throw of the dice. Only option left now is printing money or trading in bog rolls.

Printing money (Quantative easing.) only benefits bankers. During the financial crisis, banks used that money to pay bonuses to their staff. What the government needs to do is put money directly into ordinary people's pockets via their bank accounts. I'm pretty sure that's not far off.

Don’t think the Premiership players will have wages cut.
Sky sports will continue to give excellent value for those who love Watching English football around going to see their club play live.

I think so yes, as a nation we will be paying back this period for at least a decade maybe more, there will be tax hikes for us all, also football might become less relevent in our lives we are surviving without it ok.

If players wages are cut and said players start making a fuss, I can see a lot of ordinary fans not returning once this is all over. It could be a 'selling Jimmy Mac' moment.

the ongoing cost of this is incalculable-we are going to see real austerity-not the exaggerated "austerity" times we have just had. And watch this space cos when the 40000 new nurses dont appear and the 40 new hospitals etc dont appear, whoever is sitting in Corbyns seat will whine on about broken Tory promises like it never happened.

Not just us, but it's a shame that many players will be picking up £50,000+ salaries each week, despite many others in the country struggling on a fraction of that.
It's a pity the FA haven't put a little emotional pressure on PL players at least to ask if they'd be willing to take a 10% pay cut at least, with the 10% going into a charity to support the most needy who are currently affected.

Agree. When 1000s or millions of livelihoods are ruined I’m not sure greed will sit that well with people.Pimlico_Claret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 4:17 pmIf players wages are cut and said players start making a fuss, I can see a lot of ordinary fans not returning once this is all over. W*nkers on social media, millennial ar5eholes and ‘woke’ f*ckwits. This whole thing is like Diana’s death; a complete overreaction, mass hysteria and mindless panic.
