Re: Bored board Quiz 3, Tribute to our Captain
I think there was a Kay and possibly another Lee
Re: Bored board Quiz 3, Tribute to our Captain
Don’t have either on my list. Think the Kay was pre 1919

Yes sir. George Mee and Harold Gee. The last one to find is one of the most interesting characters ever to play football. Played more games for England than Burnley ( I think) and became a manager of multiple clubs worldwide.

You’ve got me. I thought your England clue would help but I’ve been through every letter at the link and although there are plenty of 3 letter names none are listed for us. You might care to check yourself and smile if I’ve missed him.

There was a Mew played for ManU late 40s. Has he slipped a match in for us?

Re: Bored board Quiz 3, Tribute to our Captain
If I tell you he played for us in 45/6 and England during the war period that should explain it
Re: Bored board Quiz 3, Tribute to our Captain
Ok. Final answer is Frank Soo who played for us in 1945/6. Amazing career. Google him. Thx

Googled him, no mention of Burnley on Wikipedia
Re: Bored board Quiz 3, Tribute to our Captain
Apart from where it mentions that he guested for Burnley during the war.
He also guested for Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, Everton, Chelsea, Reading, Brentford, Port Vale, Crewe Alexandra, Millwall, and Burnley,

Frank Soo played in three games for us in the 1945/46 season, all at home against Blackpool, Everton & Sheff Utd.
That season we finished 16th in the Football League North.
Re: Bored board Quiz 3, Tribute to our Captain
Clarets Chronicles list him as playing 3 games for Burnley in 1945/6. These were war time games which are not classed as league fixtures.
Re: Bored board Quiz 3, Tribute to our Captain
Think he played 9 war time internationals for England

Re: Bored board Quiz 3, Tribute to our Captain
Dad used to speak very highly of him, he was a right-half and played to a high standard. Apparently was quite a character too and guested for several clubs during the War.
When normal football resumed in the following season we must have improved dramatically winning promotion to Division One as well as reaching the FA Cup Final.
Re: Bored board Quiz 3, Tribute to our Captain
First ever Chinese player ( although English born ) to play in Football League and was classed as first coloured player to play for England. Went on to manage a lot of clubs especially in Scandinavia. Retired in 66 I believe
