Re: Mum
Lucky enough to have mine, 84 in June and still a font of common sense and acquired wisdom ....
A friend of ours lost her Mum a few years back ..... a quiet, churchgoing, lovely lady, quite strict with our friend when she was growing up. When they were clearing out her house, they found a photo of an RAF motorcycle display team from the war. On top of the pyramid was a beautiful young woman, sporting a swimsuit, dear old Mama herself !! She'd never mentioned it !!

I'm in Rossendale and have done a leaflet drop targetting those who are vulnerable.
If your mum needs any help with food shopping, medicines etc then I would be able to help.

First mothers day without my mum this year.
Not long back from the cemetery
Thoughts to all unable to spend time with their mother, either through self isolating or not being in this life

Re: Mum
This evening took Ma Beamish her cards and presents from Ladies G & S, some flowers from myself, and some toilet rolls as her and Pa Beamish were running out. She was most pleased.

Only lived round here for a decade or so. Tried (and succeeded) stopping the council from concreting it a few years back hence the email address.
I hope my offer is a good back stop with you not living round here anymore.

Positivity instead of the usual disruptive rubbish and backbiting....
We have a similar group in our village doing a similar thing for the elderly/self isolating residents who can't get out (all we have is a Post office/general Store) as the nearest supermarket in Settle 4 miles away.... so for those that don't drive they are getting help.
Well done barba

Re: Mum
My mum passed a year ago yesterday, but at least we got to spend the final few weeks with her,and myself and my stepdad were by her bedside when she died.
Unfortunately many families won't have that opportunity in covid-19 cases,as the family isn't allowed to be in the room as i understand, and that must be heartbreaking for the relatives.
I hope all UTC readers had a good mother's day with their mums,if they're still here and they obeyed the rules and used technology to enjoy this special day.

Re: Mum
Been to see my mum today, she's 89 and would have been upset if I hadn't, she's not appreciative of current recommendations even though we try to explain them. it's a difficult time but her happiness comes first, she's highly stressed as it is and to isolate her could kill her anyway, it's a personal choice.

Re: Mum
I'm not sure how my mum would have coped with the current situation. She'd have hated being stuck in the house on her own day after day.
I don't think a day goes by when I don't think of her. She passed away almost 16 years ago now and she would by now have been 96. Had she still been with us, and had the situation been normal, I'd have very definitely been visiting yesterday.
