When will this madness end ?
In all my days I've never known a subject have so many different opinions for example - "It's a fake virus" " This is a war" " It was released by China" " America is responsible" etc etc etc, But what I would really like to know is when do people think the restrictions to our everyday lives will end if at all ?
A, A couple of weeks.
B, About a month.
C, 6 weeks tops.
D, It's as Boris says 12 weeks should sort it.
E, Social distancing needs to last a year so a year.
F, It all depends on if we do as we are instructed.
G,The rumoured 18 months.
H,Sorry guys this is your new life with further bans to come 1984/NWO.
I could say just for a bit of fun but I'm not seeing much smiling lately (apart from the memes which are hilarious).

Re: When will this madness end ?
I reckon it will be 6 months (if everyone adheres to what guidelines state) and 12 months for things to return to anywhere resembling normality
It's just a gut feeling I have

Re: When will this madness end ?
The strict lockdown implemented in China seems to have worked according to the WHO’s data. The number of tests carried out in some other South Asian countries also seems to have detected cases early and that’s has helped.
There’s no guarantee that it won’t return anywhere until a tested and working vaccine has been developed.
The WHO is a good place for regular updates and tracking where the cases are, this is just one view from a few days ago.

F is going to be the key.
The fact that people are sodding off on to their holiday destinations within the UK and potentially taking the virus with them just shows how stupid a large chunk of the population are.

18+ months
The only exit strategy from lockdown is a vaccine or herd immunity.
Is the world in 18 months something you will want to be part of

Re: When will this madness end ?
My feeling is that most of this year can be written off unless there is some scientific breakthrough the like of which has never been seen before. The virus now seems to be taking off here in Thailand where it seems the majority of people arn't taking it anywhere near as seriously as they should. Health provision to cope with this virus is woefully short here and it seems to be up to each provincial governor( province = county) to decide how drastic the action should be.

It's crazy. I'm going to have to go to Tesco this morning, it will be my 3rd attempt this week to get some milk. Family have offered some of theirs but why should they have to give up theirs? I'm not desperate it's annoying more than anything.

I'm convinced some people want their predictions to be correct, even if it means it being a lot longer than most people expect. There's been far too many, "I said all this 2 weeks ago" - "nobody listened when I said"... nobody gives a **** about whether your prediction was correct.

It will end a lot sooner if the Chinese government provide a more honest account of why this all unfolded.

Re: When will this madness end ?
This.
As widespread testing becomes available large numbers of the undiagnosed who have had it & recovered will be able to be return to some kind of normality.
But a vaccine is the real exit strategy for this all to be fully resolved.
The social distancing measures are designed to prolong this so the Heath service is not swamped.

What you mean is you dont like what might . None of us do as there is very little we can do about it,but being in denial is not an option.
Hope for the best but plan for the worst

I post about it because I'm sure it's annoying most of us. This really isn't the time for a few posters to be congratulating themselves with a big "You should have listened to me, I was right - look at me". We don't care. It's annoying. I ask all those posters to stop doing it.

C
I remember stuff like the Foot and Mouth outbreak where hysterical numptys were squealing like stuck pigs claiming that the countryside could be clsed to the public for up to 5 years. A few short months later it was pretty much done and dusted. The current shock and awe campaign is aimed at achieving prompt compliance.
This tory government, rightly, will be getting the show back on the road asap.

I'm finding the local shops have milk, but the larger supermarkets like Tesco, don't.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 9:30 amIt's crazy. If you have any greengrocers, small off-licenses, small markets, try them first.

Yeah, i went into Colne yesterday and got pretty much everything I needed. Two big advantages of supporting my smaller, local shops and avoided the selfish, brain dead zombies who are running around supermarkets stripping the shelves bare.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 10:06 amI'm finding the local shops have milk, but the larger supermarkets like Tesco, don't.

Re: When will this madness end ?
Just got back from my local Sunday farmers market. I spent just under £20 wouldn't normally bother,
I find them expensive, but they need our support and I am one of the fortunate ones.
We shall start using our local grocers
Parked on the main road 50 yards away was a speed camera van..disgraceful that these parasites should be out picking our pockets

I think that is the key. If a successful vaccine can be produced and rolled out, we can get back to some sort of normality fairly quickly. This may take a year or perhaps a little longer.CombatClaret Wrote: As widespread testing becomes available large numbers of the undiagnosed who have had it & recovered will be able to be return to some kind of normality.

In the meantime, the government are working on increased testing. Apparently there is an antibody test ( test to find out if people have already had it). On one of Chris Martenson's daily updates he was saying that 'La Republica' had reported on a antibody test of 3000 random Italians who thought that they had not had the virus. The result was that between 50% and 75% had already had it without showing any symptoms.
Once the antibody test can start to be rolled out, those who test positive can then be released back into society without restriction. Gradually people can get back to work. Eventually, a vaccine will be available.
I think that by this time next year the lights will start to come on again.

Re: When will this madness end ?
The one about "no more than one person in a car at any time" seems ridiculously harsh. If I take my mother (as I did yesterday) for a ride in the country, so the only times we are out of doors is the time spent crossing the pavement from the front door to the car, how is that harmful to anyone - us or anyone else? We didn't even open the window, let alone get out of the car!
Re: When will this madness end ?
I thnik you are having to adjust your predictions downwards just so you can remain king of the pessimists. What are you expecting the world to be like now? I mean, if in 18 months we are all 20% poorer and have far rewer people over 80 years old, we aren't talking "back to the stone age", we're talking "back to the 1970's". And theseventies, with all their problems, were never that bad.

People forget we are doing this by choice. Plan B = 6 - 8 weeks of hell, hundreds of thousands dead and off we go again. If it becomes unmanageable, that plan could be forced on us.

Re: When will this madness end ?
In these situations governments tend to give the worst case scenario. If that comes to pass, they've been prophetic, if not, then the measures have mitigated things, they can't be wrong either way.
Re: When will this madness end ?
No normality until a vaccine is available. Here in America they are trying aiming for one within 6 months but that is unlikely. Normality will never return unless the public realize the seriousness of the current situation and respond accordingly. Just read Charlie Austin tested positive and thinks he contracted it at Cheltenham Festival. Can’t believe a pro sportsman would take that risk. Irresponsible in my opinion
