Woody returns.... 1st appearance this year
Woody returns.... 1st appearance this year
The local Woodpecker has returned to the nut feeders this morning.... 1st visit this year we are aware of.
Couldn't get a picture (he/she is extremely camera shy and the slightest movement frightens him/her) so this is one I managed last year.

Woodpecker pictured is a male. Red marking on the head that females don't have.

Never seen from near home but think I saw one in Hyde Park. Does that seem likely?

Working from home, I have had my desk set up looking out on to our bird feeder. Woody is regular visitor and I can't resist snapping a few shot off.
Not sure how to post pictures but I will give it a go...

Re: Woody returns.... 1st appearance this year
That seems to have worked, so here is another unusual shot in that he doesn't normally allow other birds to be on feeder at the same time.
Saw him with a youngster yesterday, haven't got a decent shot of that yet.

Re: Woody returns.... 1st appearance this year
Does this mean Chris Wood has gone down the pecking order
Re: Woody returns.... 1st appearance this year
Our visitor hates it when other birds arrive too normally ..... but lately he/she has been less nervous.
My sisters sees a pair visiting her feeder too, she thinks its a parent and youngster.
