Adeola Friday nears 1m views... Pendleside hospice will be £1m short of funding

Post by Father Jack » Sun Apr 05, 2020 9:23 am

Tough times for many at the moment including those in the charitable sector.
I read in the recent Jay—Rod article that Pendleside hospice expect to have a £1m shortfall in their funding given the forced cancellation of key fund raising activities.

It struck me that Adeola Friday is a thread as old as UTC and is now on 999,069 views so nearing the big 1m.
So if we had a £1 each view we’d almost close out Pendleside’s gap....

There are many great causes which are worthy of support. The Burnley community kitchen & food bank is also doing vital work in the community is another example.
Now is clearly the time they most need our help so my ask would be if you can support, please do seriously consider doing this to which ever charity or community programmes you believe in, at their time of greatest need.

Would be great if anyone has enjoyed Adeola Friday or UTC more broadly could help Pendleside or the Food Bank at this time

Burnley Community kitchen
Continue to take donations of Food and have had a spike in usage volumes in recent weeks.
Can somebody confirm if there is a way to donate money to this initiative for people who don’t live locally but also want to support?

Hospices are at serious risk of a funding crisis and the NHS and/or local government should be using some of their emergency funding to support them, otherwise the government needs to step in. Along with the public who can generously donate of course.

Pendleside have just this week supported my father until his passing on Monday. They were absolutely fantastic and everything they do is funded through charitable donations.

In the current situation, any donations that they receive will make a real difference to local people

Fully support this need for contributions especially as some people have cancer treatments which have been scheduled for sometime in the distance and hospices like Pendleside, Derian House and St Catherine's are going to care for just as many as they can but without much of their regular support.
Donation made.

It would be great idea for the Burnley players to get together and make a contribution. 2% of their annual salary would cover the short fall

A small amount from many people will do exactly the same. Everyone has their own favourite / personal charities to support but now is a good time to show that they are not forgotten.
