Sports documentaries/Series

Post by Super Teds » Sat Apr 04, 2020 4:34 pm

As per the title...any recommendations please? I've watched a lot like most people probably but I'm sure there are loads more good ones, maybe less well known. Ideally nothing cheesy!

There’s a fair number on Prime at the moment - not watched them all.
Might watch Test this week.
Currently watching the Leeds one.

Howard’s Way about Everton in the 80s is good.
‘89 about Arsenal winning the league at Anfield.
I Believe In Miracles about Clough at Forest.
Daydream Believers about Barnsley getting to the PL.

The 30 for 30 shows on BT are excellent although nearly all US based stories.
The Bo Jackson sporting history is fantastic as is the Red Sox comeback from 3 down to beat the Yankees. Two Tribes was on last week the L’pool/Everton story through the 80s up to Hillsborough. Good one on the Bradford fire with Gabby Logan leading. She was there that day.

Was her dad not the Bradford manager for that game ?
I remember when her brother died at a young age too.

Trevor Cherry was the manager. Terry Yorath was a Player there at the time.

Cheers

Trevor Cherry - Ex Leeds and England player. I remember getting him on one of those metal things you used to get from Esso garages !

James, where / how can I watch the Barnsley film? Can't find on Netflix or prime.

Gascoigne was a decent watch, focused more on his football/ on pitch.

I enjoyed that. The story about his younger brother being killed makes you realise why he's a bit radio rental

There's a brilliant documentary on " You Tube ", about the Welsh Club side, Llanelli, and their win over the 1972 All Blacks ....

" 126 Drinking premises in Llanelli at the time, by 11 O'clock that night, every one of them was dry "

Ah. I've just got the DVD. Didn't realise it wasn't streamable anywhere.

The story Gascoigne tells about when he borrowed an ostrich one day from the local zoo and took it into training in his car was hilarious

Can’t help but they are repeated quite regularly, especially with the lack of live sport.
You might have to keep checking their schedules.
