Let's Follow The Belarus Football League!

Post by Rowls » Fri Apr 10, 2020 4:55 am

It's the only friggin' league still going in Europe - let's all pick a team and start following!

I've opted for the delightfully monikered "Slutsz FC"

There's also Dinamo Brest and Ruh Brest (which is oh sooo close to 'Rub Brest') if you'd like an alternative team with a childishly funny name.

This weekend's fixtures:

Friday
18hr - Neman Grodno vs Belshina

Saturday
13hr Slutsk vs Vitebsk
15hr Torpedo BelAZ vs Energetyk-BGU
17hr Gorodeyavs Dinamo Minsk

Sun
14hr Minsk vs BATE
16hr Smolevichy-STI vs Shakhtyor
18hr Dinamo Brest vs Isloch

Mon
16hr30 Slavia vs Ruh Brest

hahahaha - just noticed there's a team called "STI" too.

They must've taken a pounding from Slutsk, methinks.

Just need to find out what time these kick off times translate to in local time then all that remains is to find a stream.

Sadly none of the clubs have Claret as a home kit but Dinamo Brest do have a Claret & Blue away kit.

I might have to switch allegiance to Dinamo Brest.

They've still got a cool name too.

The only thing against is they've got a Man City style home kit.

FC Vitebsk also have Claret & Blue away kit but it's only blue trim - not blue sleeves. They also don't have a funny name.

Decisions decisions.

OK. Put me down for torpedo zhodino.
Their third kit looks a bit Newport countyish but I worked in Newport for a good few years so can live with that.

In that case I'll have Isloch. They were clearly robbed. VAR would have disallowed the Sluts'zes first goal. And the second, and the third. Come on you Isloch.

Is it on TV?

I watched 10-15 minutes of 3 games last week, the only team I can remember was BATE who usually qualify for the Europa League. It is pretty dismal stuff played in dismal surrounds (apart from BATE which looked like a stadium) usually a 4g pitch and a temporary stand with no one in it , overlooked by tower blocks. Very few goals and a lot of yellow cards.

If you have a bet365 account which is funded you can watch all the games on there, I have fallen asleep during 2 of them.

Bate are probably one of the best teams in the league having given Arsenal a bit of a game,i suppose if your desperate for a live game its a watch, beats gardening, decorating or arguing with the missus on a saturday afternoon, although since the lockdown i quite look forward to our daily shouting match with her indoors when she wants to watch a place in the f...ing son. Enjoy your Easter everyone.

This is a novel idea mannequins,i wonder if the EFL/PL clubs will adopt that if we're facing games with empty stadiums. It would be one way of the smaller teams generating some revenue.

I must say i'm surprised they're still carrying on playing, mind you their president makes our politicians look masterly.

I've not worked a single second since lockdown which was 15th March here.

Since then, neither time of day nor day of week hath dominion over me.

Don't think that we have played Dinamo Brest but you may be thinking about Dynamo Moscow who we played in a friendly at the Turf in 92.

Yes, we played Dynamo Brest at Turf Moor on Monday 17th December 1990, we won 1-0 with Ray Deakin scoring the only goal.

Add an hour onto those KO times.

Watched last half hour of the Neman game yesterday, wasn't bad to be fair.
