Re: Tim Brooke-Taylor RIP
Played 6 holes of golf with him at Cavendish Golf Club in Buxton in the 80's, real natural warmth, absolutely sharp as a knife humour and incredibly quick witted. Not to mention a pretty good golfer.
RIP TB-T.

Re: Tim Brooke-Taylor RIP
Well said Cricketfield. Tim B-T born and bred in Buxton. He was a true Buxtonian, part of a well known local family. The town was very proud of him. Glad you got to meet him and experience the delights of the Cavendish Golf Club. RIP Tim.

Blimey; loved the Goodies and he was brilliant on radio panel shows, such as ‘I’m sorry I haven’t a clue’.
The statement says he died from COVID-19.

Met him briefly and got his autograph many years ago (early 70's) when he came to open a small fete in Hendon, nice man.

Re: Tim Brooke-Taylor RIP
RIP Tim, and thanks for all the entertainment down the years.
Especially liked him in "I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again" and I used to record them in the early 70's to listen to
them over and over again. I've only got a few left, but by far the best episode, in my opinion, is
"Search For The Source Of The Nile". Managed to find it on YouTube, but why they are showing
a picture of the Pythons I don't know (although some of them were in it).
Enjoy.

Re: Tim Brooke-Taylor RIP
Certainly do. Spent most of my misspent youth in the Leewood, the George, the Bakers, etc in the days of pub drinking with our mates until 11 with the bonus of an occasional lock-in afterwards. The other alternative was the Gaslight on the market place for a night out on the tiles ...Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 9:50 pmThe Leewood.
You know it?
Going back a few years, but it was one of my drinking places.

Depending on how far back your going, we could well know each other then.ktclaret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 11:40 amCertainly do. Wouldn't be at all surprised... Grew up in Buxton, not lived there since mid 1980's. Still got family residing in the town though.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 4:03 pmDepending on how far back your going, we could well know each other then.

Re: Tim Brooke-Taylor RIP
Wow, oh yes of course I do. He was always there with Derwent and Margaret, keeping us all in check. Annoyingly I can't recall the surname but reckon some of the old guard will remember. Leave it with me ...Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 7:39 pmCan you remember Derek, who ran the Leewood bars for years? 28 years, as it goes.
A big Claret?
He was my dad. .
