Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
I’m sure it’s already been mentioned at some point but what’s the situation with these contracts? Do they run up until June 30?
Would we play without a sponsor should games take place beyond this?

Re: Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
We seem to have been switching shirt sponsors annually presumably to get the best deal. I assumed it would be the same with lovebet.
Re: Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
I really hope our deal with Lovebet is coming to an end sooner rather than later. So ugly.

Re: Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
They are and I think I was told there would be another different name on the shirt, either next season or the season after, as part of this deal. The sooner we are able to move away from these companies the better. I'm sure, prior to the recent crisis, that would have happened with legislation brought in to restrict betting advertising. Now that's unlikely so we'll probably have to put up with it for a bit longer.
Re: Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
I read a comparison article the other week on PL kit and shirt sponsors. Can’t remember the exact length of deals but we are with them for next season according to the article. I’m sure Umbro is at least a three year deal.

Lads, lovebet and labia 360 are such low rent betting firms, surely you could get a better deal, no? Even Dafabet or Marathon Bet would be a step up.

Hopefully at a time the club will need money more than any time since ITV digital I Hope we get the best possible deal. Gambling or otherwise.

They are paying us a lot more than Dafabet did.Millertime v1.7 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 11:24 amLads, lovebet and labia 360 are such low rent betting firms, surely you could get a better deal, no? Even Dafabet or Marathon Bet would be a step up.

Just found one article, it isn’t the same I referred to above though.
We apparently get 7.5m from Love Bet

Maybe go for a big global name, like Saltire EnergyMillertime v1.7 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 11:24 amLads, lovebet and labia 360 are such low rent betting firms, surely you could get a better deal, no? Even Dafabet or Marathon Bet would be a step up.

If we take the sponsor name off the shirts, we certainly have to pay back part of the money. If we keep the sponsor on the shirts, we probably keep the money.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 8:41 amI’m sure it’s already been mentioned at some point but what’s the situation with these contracts? I suspect we play with the sponsor name.
Re: Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
There is nothing wrong with the shirts. Mine says, 'Cod & Chips', albeit in Chinese!
Re: Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
I would rather not having betting firms sponsoring us but it is the way of the world as can be seen from the number of clubs in the same boat.Millertime v1.7 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 11:24 amLads, lovebet and labia 360 are such low rent betting firms, surely you could get a better deal, no? As for getting a better deal this current one is by some distance the biggest in the clubs history. Only just over 10 years ago we had Cooke Oils sponsoring us for £100,000 a year. Our current deal is 25 times that a year and they have I think agreed a 3 year deal.
Hardly matters whether they are a “low rent” betting firm if they are the ones who have offered the biggest deal
Re: Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
I can accept the hideous gambling sponsors logos on our players shirts and understand the commercial reasons justifying it. But I think we should have the option of buying a sponsor free replica shirt. You're basically paying to be a walking billboard advertising these shoddy, unscrupulous gambling companies. I refuse to buy anything from the club shop that contains sponsorship.

Re: Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
Quite an interesting one this; Nike were recently embroiled in a row with Liverpool as they are due to supply kit after June 30th, a good deal for them because, of course, the vast publicity generated by Liverpool's title win when the season finally ends would be superb for the company.
Liverpool's present kit supplier, New Balance, questioned this, quite reasonably, and won, the outcom being they will be allowed to supply - and publicise - their gear until the end of the season. Nike will have to wait.

I’m sure I read somewhere that the shirt deal is about £8m per season? Remember the days when we’d do a deal with P3 Computers for a new printer?

And if they allowed that, unfortunately, the amount received from the gambling sponsors would reduce. They won't permit it as part of the contract we signed with them.groove wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 8:19 amI can accept the hideous gambling sponsors logos on our players shirts and understand the commercial reasons justifying it. £7.5m, I read.Claretforever wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 8:51 amI’m sure I read somewhere that the shirt deal is about £8m per season? Remember the days when we’d do a deal with P3 Computers for a new printer?
I quite like the sponsor. My kids have the kits without the sponsor and I think it looks a bit bland. Generally think the Puma designs were better than the Umbro ones though, so hope they up their game next season... whenever that may be.
Re: Kit contracts - Umbro & Lovebet
£7.5m appears correct.
