Garden centres re-opened

Post by Bosscat » Wed May 13, 2020 6:42 pm

Went to Twin-Locks at Gargrave this morning on our way back from Morrisons shopping.

Great to see it open again and it was quite busy (social distancing measures in place and working well)

3 Clarets in the queue too ... so some footy chat as we waited to go in ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

If youโ€™ve lost your job or business buying a plant will make you feel a whole load better.

I'm pleased to hear the garden centres are re-opening, I'm living on borrowed thyme.

Glad to hear it. Pleasing to see the country gradually getting back on its feet.

We were at Springwood between about 3 and 4 and it was surprisingly quiet we thought. Plenty of parking, no queue to get in and rarely had to even think about social distancing from others as most aisles were clear of people. Lots of good stock there too. Way quieter and safer than your average visit to the supermarket - and outdoors.

Car park, outside carpark and a few on the road for last two days! You must have landed lucky, I went at 5:15 to miss the crowds ๐Ÿ˜

Well actually when we arrived the small outside car park was almost full, and there were a couple of cars parked on the road outside, (and we thought it would be busy), but the much larger inside car park was less than half full. So the impression as you approached was that it was busy. It's a huge outdoor space though, so even if you had 40 or 50 cars there it wouldn't seem all that busy once through the gates.

it's strange that supermarkets are saying one shopper only but whole families are going to garden centres from the pics on the news.

Maybe, but they are outdoor and in many cases probably 10 / 20 times bigger than a supermarket, 50 times bigger than the smaller "Spar type" outlets.
Still much safer (IMO).
