First holiday destination post lockdown
Where is the first place you will be heading once this is all over?
We had actually not planned to fly for a while now with two babies in tow. And had planned to do some UK holidays and a Europe road trip at some point.
Think for this year and possibly next will stick to UK. So much to see and do here and flying with two little ones is a job even before any extra enforced measures.
So for us probably Wales or Scotland.
If and when we next go abroad probably a road trip to the alps.

Re: First holiday destination post lockdown
Weβve booked a villa in Greece next year. Love Greece - a proud country that has been battered by economic issues recently. Somewhat eye-opening when the major powers were warning Greece that the virus would be catastrophic in such a relatively poor country yet they ended up showing the way in terms of their response to it.

Heading down to Burnley to catch up with some of the lads I met at Pittodrie and hope they extend the same courtesy (ie. a tour of all the local watering holes)

Was due to go Santorini in July so that might be next summer now, depending on time of year possibly Cartmel or Cornwall if staying in this country.

Was due to go Tunisia in June which will obviously be cancelled (although Tui haven't officially done so yet)
If we can't get to Vilnius, Lithuania this December then probably Tunisia or Rhodes next year if possible.

Cuba, just love the place. Failing that, Thailand. Failing that, Mexico.
That's it for far afield travel at the moment.
Nearer to home, Croatia, Montenegro, Rhodes, Italy.
At home, North Yorkshire, Port Patrick, Norfolk Broads.
Failing any of those, fk.

Re: First holiday destination post lockdown
Should have been off to NYC start of this month with my partner.
I'm now trying to weigh up if rebooking for May 2021 is worth the risk as it would be a little cheaper now...
Will probably be pre-vaccine and also the insurance companies won't touch anything Covid related now.
Also If social distancing is in place that will take a lot of the fun out of exploring a city.

Re: First holiday destination post lockdown
Was hoping my holiday to Crete in middle of June might still go ahead as Greek islands were looking to open up to tourists in June and Jet2 not pulled the flight yet.
Got an update today that Greece is staying shut at least until July so now aiming to travel first week in Oct and hopefully go someone warm like Turkey on a bit of a drinking/activity break

Re: First holiday destination post lockdown
Even before all this I was starting to get fed up with the aggro of flying. Said I wanted to explore the UK more, so maybe Devon or Cornwall. I've only ever been to Newquay in that part of the world.

We've been lucky and got 5 days in Malta in before the lockdown. We've lost a grand tour we had organised for Mrs Huw's 65th.
Not flying anywhere until all this madness is sorted. It's not worth the risk.

Re: First holiday destination post lockdown
If youβve not done Dorset then Iβd highly recommend it. We went last year in august and was one of the best holidays weβve done. Beautiful place and weather was cracking. Lots to see and do.
Re: First holiday destination post lockdown
Already had Mallorca and Dublin cancelled in April and June.
Got Prague booked mid June and itβs for the day after Jet2.com are saying that they are flying again so nothing cancelled yet but I still expect it to be.
Canada booked in August and not really got a clue what will happen to that.
Will be going to North Wales most weeks as soon as the lockdown is lifted....and also plan to go to the lakes and Whitby at some point if we canβt travel abroad.
Most of my free time this year looks like it will be spent sorting out holiday refunds !

Gran Canaria at the end of the year hopefully. A nice bit of winter sunshine is always something to look forward to.

Hired a Motorhome for a couple of weeks in September, depending on campsites being open.
Might even call on Millertime v1.7 and have a Tennants with him.

We have a trip on the Rhone booked for October and a trip on the Elbe booked for April next year no idea yet whether they will be happening ... The deposits only have been paid, but "The Rhone" trip needs paying for in June so will be interesting.

Re: First holiday destination post lockdown
Had a month away booked on Spains, Costa Blanca this June. Cancelled and got my deposit back , only need Ryanair to cough up now.
Booked 4 nights away in Silverdale in July.
Over the last 2 years spent over 12 of those abroad so really not to fussed that we can't travel,.
I have enjoyed every minute of the the last 8 weeks and have had the pleasure of discovering the best walking District in Lancashire, the wonderful Rossendale Valley

Lived in the Valley all my life and it is only since lockdown that I have discovered all the the amazing walks.
We have Cribden, Balladen, Seaten Naze with views of Pendle and the Three peaks to the North, views of Manchester, Rochdale and the Peak District to the south.
We have Holcombe Moor and Grane with views as far south as North Wales and west to the fylde and Morecambe Bay.

We have rented a cottage in the Peak District, originally due to have been there this week but rescheduled for late September so fingers crossed. We are not intending to fly anywhere until we are clear through the other side of this and maybe not even then.
