Re: Covid-19
Anyway time i started posting good news on here.
Death toll in Spain rises by 70
Spain has released it's latest daily figures with another 70 deaths reported over the past 24 hours.
The increase takes the overall coronavirus death toll in Spain to 28,752.
It is a slight increase on yesterday's daily total of 48 but is the eighth day in a row the daily death number has been below 100.
At the peak of the virus the daily death toll in Spain was as high as 950.
It comes as restrictions have been eased across much of the country and will be softened further in Barcelona and Madrid on Monday.
Venice Film Festival to go ahead
The Venice Film festival will go ahead as scheduled in September, the local governor has announced.
The decision comes as the coronavirus outbreak slows in Italy - once the epicentre of the pandemic.
Fewer productions than usual are likely to be in attendance due to lockdown measures on the film industry across the globe.
Italy plans to lift all travel restrictions from 3 June. On Sunday it recorded 119 deaths from Covid-19, a number drastically down from its peak in March.
Even New York is seeing rapid progression

Oh do pay attention and try thinking before posting it helps in the long runandroid wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 3:35 pmIf we are interested in the truth then it seems the revised Durham police statement suggests that it is Cummings/Govt who are telling the truth and it was Durham police who were initially misleading the public (at best or arguably being untruthful). It turns out that it was Cummings's father who initiated contact with the police and not the other way around. And the police now say that the purpose of the call was to discuss security and there is no longer any mention of lockdown rules being discussed.

That the PM is sticking by him just shows how corrupt this Us & Them government is.

Another 5G mobile phone mast has been torched in Derbyshire. It follows more than 50 incidents nationwide, believed to be linked to false claims the 5G network is spreading coronavirus.

Interesting to read Oxford vaccine project leader Prof Adrian Hill is feeling pessimistic about their vaccine.
He fears there simply won't be enough virus in the community for the volunteers to get infected in the trial.
The virus is on the wane.
Great tweet by the Professor Karol Sikora

Incapacitated but they and the child could manage a 250m+ drive,if the situation was so severe i'm sure somebody in their local neighbourhood could have assisted, not ideal but a far better option than going up the motorway, what if either or both had became ill in the vehicle, although if accounts are to be believed his wife already had CV symptoms,so she shouldn't have been leaving the house anyway.

And the Conservatives need to remember many of those northern seats were won with slim majorities,Burnley for example was about 1,500 i think,it wouldn't take a huge anti-government swing and a lot of those said MP'S will be out on their ar**.

I am sick to death of the hounding by the media. I don’t really care if Cummings did wrong or not. The focus has been taken off much more important topics such as whether or not people are being given enough notice about their businesses being able to operate. Whether schools can get going. It is just crazy to spend all this time discussing one issue. What about all the people swanning about on the beaches miles from home. It was great in the early days of this pandemic when everyone was pulling together but it hasn’t taken long for the old blame games to start again. Why do we always have to look for things being somebody’s fault. We all make mistakes. Get over it and move on. Rant over

Give me a lucky general any day,Starmer needs to tread carefully though,he doesn't want to be seen to be gloating, thus far he doesn't seem the type to play party politics for the sake of it,the best thing for Keir Starmer to do is nothing apart from ask searching questions at PMQ'S and let the PM trip himself up.

“Dominic Cummings followed the instincts of every parent”
I’m a parent, please don’t say that my instincts would be to endanger my child’s life (or my own) my confining myself to a small space with someone who is suffering with Covid-19. My parental instincts would have been to stay at home and see it through, and if it got to the point where I could not look after my child I would have made arrangements for someone to collect my child.
This is a really bad dream isn’t it...

Analysis: Have Johnson and Cummings judged the public mood correctly?
Nick Eardley
Political correspondent
It strikes me Boris Johnson is taking a political gamble here; that the public will understand his decision or aren’t that bothered by a "Westminster row".
Indeed, Mr Johnson and Mr Cummings are seen as political operators who can judge the public mood well.
But many - including several Tory MPs - think they’ve got this wrong. They believe the public does care and see it as one rule for us, one rule for them.
I don't think they have, this isn't just a WM bubble row,and the public do care if influential people are seen to be taking the pi**
Also when many people have made a lot of personal sacrifices during this outbreak, and adhered to the rules,it'll stick in their craws that Cummings can apparently behave with impunity.
Cummings and Johnson better hope there isn't any more revelations to emerge from this episode.

Re: Covid-19
I find that post odd. I agree that people are irresponsible by being on the beaches (IMO) but appear to be within the guidance that Johnson gave us when he relaxed the rules and said that we could travel. Cummings however made a totally unnecessary - and arguably dangerous - 260 mile trip when we were supposed to be all staying at home. And yet you "don't care" about Cummings' actions whilst being highly critical of those on the beach. With the PMs statement in the past half hour giving support to his adviser, those visiting parks and beaches will feel even more justified than before.Whitgord wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 5:31 pmI am sick to death of the hounding by the media. And what about the parents who couldn't attend the funeral of their own child due to the "stay at home" guidelines? How will they feel listening to our Prime Minister give his unreserved support to Cummings in the briefing?
No wonder Tory MPs are up in arms.

Brave by Boris to back him so public ally and so early, but with 4 years to go until the next election, this will be long forgotten.
Re: Covid-19
He bumbled along and didn’t answer any of the questions. Massive f#ck up if you ask me, should’ve binned off Cummings knowing he could bring him back once the dust settles. It really does make me wonder what Cummings has on Johnson - our democracy is at stake here.

Yes but Corbyn isn't around any more, there's a grown-up in charge of the Labour party now, plus the Conservatives other big vote winner brexit won't resonate in 4 years, either we'll have a deal and be doing ok economically or we'll crash out with a no deal and it'll all go pete tong.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 5:41 pmThis country is absolutely f-u-cked. Hey, but Corbyn wouldn’t have been much better, so it’s all okay really.
Either scenario doesn't help the government, first one's obviously preferable, but in either case they'll be far more pressing matters for the public to cast their votes on.
And no Corbyn wouldn't have been any better.

Distracting us, perhaps.
It’s been 48hs over a BH weekend. Will be business as normal for the senior ministers on Tuesday.
