Joe hart
On bbc now about mental health with Prince William. Spoke well of Burnley but said it’s the lowest part of his career. But he’s in a good mental place.
A few years ago at city (before he won his second title) that wasn’t the case.
Reflects well on us that. Just wish the fans were a bit more reasonable with him. Read and hear so much crap about him. For no reason either. He’s never said or done anything in his time here to get anything but respect.

Spot on. At Birmingham and then at city he was one of the best in the world.warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 8:25 pmIn his day only a few better goalies have played for the England team
Can’t help but feel the way guardiola treat him not only shattered his confidence but also how fans see him.

Re: Joe hart
Mental health problems.
Re: Joe hart
Some of the stick he took on this board was way over the top last season. He made a few errors but he was treated like the lone reason for our struggles. Didn’t help that Heaton came back in and we transformed, mind; although I’m sure he would admit it wasn’t all down to him.
It just shows that it does get back to a player in some form. I’ve been just as guilty in the past though with other players. I’m going to make a conscious effort to be a little less over the top with any criticism when we start back up.

I like the attitude he portrays, and he actually had a number of good games in front of, at times, a very shaky Burnley defense He has not thrown his toys out the pram at not being first choice GK-take note Mr Gibson

Re: Joe hart
How much pressure is there on modern players?
Are they being picked? Injuries? Promotion and the financial benefits that follow?
Outside the game drinkers, gamblers, adulterers? Funny old game innit.

Re: Joe hart
I do wonder if he'd be able to get back close to his best days (or there about) by calming down a little. He seems very pumped up on the pitch. Heaton was commanding...and loud, very loud, but if look at GKs like Alisson, Neuer, and even our Pope they have a zen-like composure. So much psychological energy expended on the 'battle', if you will, kicking posts and screaming encouragement at everyone else when defending corners etc.

A similar trait to Pickford. Never did P Schmeichel any harm though did it. There’s been plenty of good unhinged goalkeepers over the years.Spiral wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 9:10 pmI do wonder if he'd be able to get back close to his best days (or there about) by calming down a little. He’s been very poor at times. But never warrant the shite he’s received, and that goes all footballers btw. The abuse what so called fans give is disgusting. Wethers thats fan to fan or fan to footballer.

Re: Joe hart
He's still a good shot stopper but we need more than that here, Heaton was excellent as he marshalled his defence, Hart didn't and so was more exposed. Pope is still learning but better than Hart now, but not yet up to Tom's standard. Every player who passes under Dyche's umbrella speaks well of him and the club, even Drinkwater.

Not coming for crosses and going out feet first to stop shots didn't help Joes clean sheet ratio
He was a poor signing
Reinventing how he played doesnt take away from the facts. He was not at the same level as Nick Pope

Well son, get a job you're good at and stop feeling sorry for yourself. Oh, what's that? No 100 grand a week at the chicken factory? Shame.
Let's face it, you're a ponce. A narcissistic ponce and you only care about wealth and fame, now your fame is fading, you need to go down the "third rate footballer" practice of "mental health" on the BBC for a bit of screen time.
Pathetic.

If getting a grip results in a total lack of understanding of what it means to experience depression and low self-esteem then I would rather losen the grip.
Its been good to see Joe Hart smiling on his way to the bench week in and week out, knowing he'd love to be back at the top of his game and first choice keeper. It hasn't looked like arrogance to me

It's the lowest point of his career because he's on the bench and he wants to be playing. It's not hard. Would you rather he was thrilled not to be number one?

Pickford also flaps about like he's done a gram and he doesn't keep many clean sheets, either. I suppose if it works then it works. Worked well for a time for Hart, too. To use an analogy, he looks to me like a boxer going all-in with the haymakers from the first bell when a patient jab would be of more use. And he's smacking himself in the head before the fight to get pumped-up, chewing down so hard on his gumshield he's ruining his teeth.

He's not good enough to, I agree. And he used to be good enough to play in nets for the champions of England and for the national team. It's not a struggle I can relate to but that doesn't mean I can't sympathise.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 10:31 pmBut he's not good enough to.

I know that I take a lot of satisfaction from my job and not because of the salary. Joe is 4 years older than me and I know that if in 4 years I'm doing a worse job of work and watching on as a younger lad does better it won't be nice and I will struggle with it.
Mental health is health and is not something you can pay your way out of.

I will always have a suspicion that there was something really not right when he was in the team: team spirit? organisation at the back? Players' loyalty tom Tom? Who knows?...but the upturn in form when TH came back in was amazing to see.
Re: Joe hart
In fairness we were creating hardly any chances in some of those games, putting more pressure on the defence. Some of those heavy defeats wouldn't have been as damaging if the other 1-0's were 1-1's, or to that effect.

He started playing in nets for his hometown club Shrewsbury when he was 17, until he was signed by one of the top sides in English football. He then worked his way to a star turn on loan as starting goalie at Premier League Birmingham City, before playing over 200 games and winning the Premier League twice at Manchester City. He earned 75 caps as England's number one in this time. He then played two seasons on loan as number one at Torino and West Ham respectively. He then signed for Burnley, lost his starting job after 19 games and has never played a league game since.
If you can't see that he's at the lowest moment of his career that's your business and not his. I don't get why you think you know his mental health better than he does mind.
Re: Joe hart
I thank him for doing his best for Burnley - and making some very good stops, with some fluffs.
I appreciate his contribution to the roof on mental health.
That takes some guts.
I wish him well.

Re: Joe hart
That's quite the overreaction. You're going to have to show me where I alluded to his mental health. I've been keeping mainly to talking about his composure on the pitch. In all honesty, without wanting to trivialise or make light of the issue, the subject of mental health is an ironic topic about which for you to have a messageboard breakdown.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 11:00 pmWhat's that got to do with "mental health"

Re: Joe hart
But he's not as good as Pope and so he's at best a sub. Don't know enough about the other keeper but if.he's.not.as.good as.him then he's pretty much surplus to requirements. He only arrived here when we had no fit keepers.
Re: Joe hart
Not really. Collective amnesia I've seen on this board - people forgetting he was pretty much POTY up until mid December. Truth is he just wasn't as good as Heaton overall.
Where was this finger-pointing when Pope was letting in soft goals around the same time this season? Hart isn't a starter, but to call him a failure of a singing is incorrect in my opinion.

Nothing wrong with any of the comments Hart has made. He should move on this summer and I wish him well. He came in when we desperately needed a goalkeeper and overall, he did a good job. Heaton's return wasn't the only thing that got us out of trouble last year - in fact I wouldn't even call it the biggest single factor personally.
