Not So Sweet....Steve Priest Dies
Founder member of the glam rockers Sweet, Steve Priest has died aged 72.
I remember seeing the late Brian Connolly, the lead singer of Sweet on stage
at the old Martholme Grange, but don't think that was the Sweet, they'd
probably disbanded by then.

Best known for their glam rock era hits written by Chinn and Chapman but if you listened to some of their b sides and album tracks, their material was a lot heavier. Fox on the run is one of my faves and the later Love is like Oxygen is a very good song. RIP Steve

Another part of my teenage years passes. I use to love his colourful outfits and who could forget the make up and of course the expressions with it. RIP Steve.

The B sides were definitely heavier and away from the C & C hits they were a damn decent rock and.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 12:06 pmBest known for their glam rock era hits written by Chinn and Chapman but if you listened to some of their b sides and album tracks, their material was a lot heavier. Blockbuster was the first single I ever bought...at Almaine Records at the top of Windy bank in Colne. Teenage Rampage and Ballroom Blitz absolute corkers too. Lauren Laverne had some comment from a listener on her show this morning who knew their tour manager when they visited Australia and apparently behaved like true wild men of rock, trashing hotel rooms etc

He just didn't have a clue what to do.
(Though he may have had other vocal contributions.)

She could kill you with a wink of her eye - The Sweet were my first favourite group and I have a live album which is a great hard rock album.
