I can’t believe it’s even an issue. The government has bailed out lots of plenty of non hungry people, including my partner and eldest child, so feeding at risk children should be a no brainer.

Why did it take a footballer to get the government to change their minds? What level of morality says “we’re not providing free school meals over summer” and then changes minds after a footballer highlights the issue? I know the opposition parties demanded it as well as a lot of people, but the U-turn smacks of public relations rather than wanting to help hungry children.

Interesting you use the term bailed out for the support your partner and eldest child have received when you have regularly referred to the furlough scheme as a con by the tories.

I don't mind any government making a u-turn for the right reasons - shows they are listening and should be welcomed.

Captain Kirk, you baby.

Rashford is on the BBC website today saying footballers are speaking out about social issues. WHY THEM???????????? Why them as the socio-political elite, unelected???????

Why not you or I?

BECAUSE of folk like Boris i.e. the minority elite want the fascism of sport stars as the new cultural leaders as a total political appropriation of sport.

That IS fascism.

Leni Reifenstahl and the sports stars of Nazi Germany, again.

WAKE UP!!!!!!

This country uses ethnic/religious/sexual minorities as the media elite to ape the minority elite of the aristocracy and to do their bidding as their barking mad dog to keep the sheep masses in their pens and in their place, because you cannot argue against the perceived victims of the masses.

Boris Johnson and the BBC can't believe their luck.

I logged into today, just to say what a naive and effin dickhead you are, KK.

Andrew JB why did it take a footballer?

'To open doors that you can't' reinforces one law for the famous and one law for the plebs. It is a societal model of prejudice.

You muppets belong on the Victoria Derbyshire Show.

The political leaders who created this societal model are damn and insidiously clever, they create a Mobius cultural loop that one can never find the door to, like the Kafka novel, The Castle.

Also, they build a mass entertainment model around mediocrity because they can then control it.

The can choose Ad Infinitum, the folk on TV and replace them Ad Infinitum at their will.

And the masses can identify with their mediocrity i.e. they are like them.

Ed Sheeran is worse than your local busker and yet he is a superstar with 100 million quid in the bank.

It's Oxbridge nihilist Jew-based political philosophy, modeled on the rag trade, where they invent and set the currency, same now with art.

No one is not welcoming the fact that the government are choosing the feed children, just wondering why it took a media fuss created by a footballer to persuade them that feeding children was something that might be a good idea.

No, the thread is about how he gets listened to, but not you or I.

I have been trying for 30 whole bloody years to get someone to listen to a unifying theory or art, no access at all to culture, in spite of postgraduate research. No way.

As someone at the far side of the cultural directive and culturally and societally excluded, I'm aware of the societal model that others don't know about because their career hasn't been trashed by it.

The new head of painting at the RCA is a black American women who has no painting talent whatsoever, but she's running the course and I'm not because she organized a Black Women for Black Lives Matter show.

She is the fascist appointment for the maintaining of the minority elite.

To win a campaign is beneficial to have a influential celebrity to help push it. They didn’t do a u-turn just because of Rashford, they did it because campaigners had found someone willing to use his platform and experience to start gathering momentum - and more where going to follow.

The government nipped it in the bud

I’m still amazed people believe Boris Johnson gives a **** about ordinary people.

I'm sure Rashford's motives are beyond reproach and he should be applauded. I also understand and agree with Pstotto, but that is not Rashford's fault. Unless there was revolution, those evil elites will always prevail tricky little bast4rds that they are.

I'm not against Rashford or what he''s done, I think it's OK but a massive contrast to when I wrote to my MP.

When someone writes to their MP is not headline news ordinarily. He is now becoming a media-groomed pawn in a wider political scam.

That goes for all you on here using IR35, undoubtedly claiming your government handouts whilst paying next to nothing all in the first place.
And what government handouts would they be tarkys_ears? As a director of a PSC, last time I checked, I was only eligible to receive 80% of my PAYE income if I furloughed myself. That equates to just over £500 per month.

If it wasn't so serious it would be amusing, even if these politicians weren't aware of the story, and i fail to see how they couldn't be aware given the plethora of media coverage it's received in all the formats, online, print, radio & TV, then a simple Google or reading a newspaper would have educated them, Hancock in particular he's supposed to be the HS FGS, and he can't get anything right, and more worryingly doesn't seem to give a s**t, care homes overwhelmed, lack of PPE, lack of testing, the report into BAME fatalities not acted on ASAP, and yet another commission set-up, no Mr Hancock it's not talk we need it's action.

And it appears Marcus isn't finished yethttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53073977

OH! and some more greedy out of touch footballers making a differencehttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-53070631

And I've no doubt there's many more up and down the country doing their bit during this pandemic, and even prior to it, but naturally the higher-profile will be given to the PL players rightly or wrongly.

The furlough scheme is a con for the reasons I’ve detailed already. Feel free to dispute if you think it isn’t.

The government doing the right thing is good. The fact they weren’t going to do the right thing is what I find disgraceful. The lives of disadvantaged children are clearly unimportant to the government, whereas public opinion is.

In the sixth richest country in the world, the government chose to stop a food program for over a million disadvantaged children. They changed their mind not because new evidence emerged, or on the advice of a scientific advisor, or because the PM saw the decision and was horrified by it (the PMs spokesperson specifically refused Rashford’s request), but because public opinion was against it. None of this should be surprising when set against the PMs own written words about working class people.

You've still time to write to the Tate Gallery to give them your vote... :-)

I for one have enjoyed Pstotto’s contributions to this thread. When you think about it, the fact that an MP has ignored his inane green-ink ramblings and yet listened to a well-spoken young man with millions of fans around the world, is obviously fascism.

And as for his scribblings on newspaper articles not being nominated for the Turner Prize - or at least earning him a senior role at the RCA - well if that isn’t because of the Oxbridge nihilist Jew-based political philosophy, I don’t know what is.

In actual fact you're right, Greenmile, because according to Clement Greenberg's 'Avant Garde and Kitch, the avant garde restore value in a time of using the questioning of value, for nihilist principles.

I am that person.

I have epistemological proof:

'Images are made of 2D shapes (pictorial acreage fact), 2D shapes represent 3D form (geometric fact of perspective),'Images represent 3D form' (logical theoretical deduction-as-epistemological method).

As such, that IS art theory.

It's a moving on from the current fixation with painting = the sign and emblem as cultural tool, rather than pictorial contemplation of subjective form.

Malevich's Black Square is the repeated klaxon of art-as-sign, art theory is about 'consciousness is proven via experience of pictorial illusion'.

We're still is the epoch of Post modernism.

Nihilism won't go quietly...

If you want to educate yourself and improve as an artist Pstotto you should look at Yung Jake. I know you don't have his talent but im sure you could advance your skills beyond doodling on old newspapers.

Another option is to enter your work into an under 11's art competition like Del Boy did but don't get your hopes up cos there's some talented kids around these days

Marcus Rashford is valuable to the current elite for moving from illusion i.e. a football star on the pitch, replaceable and to be mutually bought and sold at will, to a cultural emblem-as the real.

Arguing/debating with pstotto is a pointless as arguing with a squirrel, that’s in space, in an alternative dimension, and it’s dead

Maybe Rashford's next career could soon be in the movies... I've heard Stephen Spielberg's next project is a film in Scotland and they're looking for a Marty McFly type role in the soon-to-be-cast movie 'Stanley Baxter The Future'. :-)

And then 'Rashfords Rashers for George Foremen Grills' could follow on from there.

I bet he's practicing his dance moves to this right now:

And what government handouts would they be tarkys_ears? As a director of a PSC, last time I checked, I was only eligible to receive 80% of my PAYE income if I furloughed myself. That equates to just over £500 per month.
Sounds like you should have declared your real income then.

We had an example of an "overpaid Premier League footballer" actually using his position to do some good and Pstotto and Pinpussy could only still find fault so I called them what I thought.
I come back a day later to see the looney tunes ramblings of Pstotto since then and have to laugh. In one of his posts he mentions writing to his MP but not getting a response. Are you surprised? If it was anything like his mindless ramblings of this thread it probably went in the bin after the first 4 pages.
I didn't coin the phrase but will use it as it seems apt: Pstotto: Weapons grade drama queen.

How do you know he hasn't declared his real income? Company directors often take a small basic salary supplemented by dividends.

How's that the point? You suggested he should have declared his real income, which there's no reason to think he hasn't.

You obviously have no idea how freelancers pay their taxes....the irony of IR35 is that I am currently paying less tax now than I previously was.
