Aaron Lennon to leave
According to the Athletic, he's rejected a short term contract offer and will leave at the end of June.

Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
I'm surprised if he's decided to leave. I wonder if he's rejected the contract offer because he feels he's deserving of a longer contract? Or perhaps has a slightly more lucrative offer lined up elsewhere? Nice guy I'm sure but I'm not too upset if he's off. I think he hasn't offered enough going forward.
Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
Had a promising start but not really worked out. Don't think his games suited to the way our wide players are asked to play really.

Not bothered he’s off, but I think these 9 games are going to be really difficult if many of the other out of contract lads follow suit.
With the injuries we’ve got and the frequency of the games, I could be a tough 6 weeks.

Shame I think he had done well with the limited opportunities he has been given and we don’t have a similar winger. Would have preferred him to have been given another year.

Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
Shame really as hasn’t really had the chances.
With him and most likely Hendrick leaving, and JBG seeming having cheesestings rather than hamstrings, that does leave us short of right sided “wingers” and definitely needing to recruit

Best for both parties that he moves on.
Stepping down into the championship for regular football would be a good move for him.

Handy squad player at times, but I'm sure at his age he will want a club that's offering him a long deal and guaranteed starts.
Seems a nice chap so I wish him well.

When does the transfer window open? Will he be able to play for another club this season with it running over to summer or will this mean he has to wait till next season?

Thanks for that. One that hasn’t really worked out for a few reasons is Lennon but seemed a good signing on paper

Aaron Lennon
Set to leave next week when his contract expires.
Been a useful addition to us. No doubt off the field too with his experience. And a very good player down the years.
I’d have liked to kept him but hoping by recouping his wages and that of a few other bigger earners we may get some bargains Who are younger this summer.

Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
Disappointed he’s not re-signed to see the season out.
Would have given him another year, myself, but maybe now is the time to seek some new blood. Wish him well for the future.

Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
Chance to see his career out back at Leeds maybe?
Re: Aaron Lennon
We should go in for him he could be handy little acquisition for the bench and 2 min cameos.
Re: Aaron Lennon
Been very disappointing. Thought we were getting a far better player.

Personally I think it's a good area where the club can save wages in these bleak times.
Please be nice with replies as Aaron has previously suffered mental health problems and these threads are easy found on the internet.
Good luck with your career Aaron.

Re: Aaron Lennon
The truth is we Need fresh blood, and a club the size of Burnley cannot get anyone in, unless we let someone go first.
Lennon has been ok, but we need real competition on the pitch and Aaron never really threatened to be a starter, he was always the back up.
I hope he finds another club soon, and wish him the best for the future, but we have to move on and upwards.
The only 2 that really matter, because they would be missed and leave a hole in the club, is Bards and Hendrick. Even Bards is of an age now, where we really need someone younger lined up to compete with him, and compete with Lowts. Jeff going, and not being replaced could really hurt us.

Re: Aaron Lennon
I thought he started really well but has been on the whole pretty poor since then.
He still has that pace but for whatever reason does not use it often enough, perhaps lacks a bit of his former attacking confidence? I would have absolutely been releasing him this summer regardless - he’s 33, never starts and has had quite a few periods of not being able to be selected down to injury.
No big loss, but I wish him well as he seemed a good type.

Luckily we are safe. So I’d like to see one or two youngsters blood. You never know if they don’t get the chance...agreenwood wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 7:12 amNot bothered he’s off, but I think these 9 games are going to be really difficult if many of the other out of contract lads follow suit.

Koki and benson being a couple i would like to see more of.
But it’s important to have as much form and momentum as possible before we get to the transfer window and next season.

Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
Disappointed hes not signed a deal to the end of the season- thought he might feel it was the right thing to do, to see the season out as hed originally have done - having been paid through the lock down. But none of us know what terms were on offer in fairness.
But whilst hes been a decent enough squad player for us, i dont think anyone would pretend hes been a roaring success. Hes 33 now, he'll be on big wages by our standards, and we might be glad of saving that cash.

Come on Spice, stick up for your man. I recall you raving for a couple of days about the space he created with his “touch” at Bournemouth!
Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
Wish him well hope he gets what he wants elsewhere. Some glances of just how good he was.
Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
Looking after number 1, like most people do.
He might be the first, but wont be the last who's made that decision...
There's a reason Dyche said what he said on Thursday, and he would have found out who was doing what, a long time before the ones that get snippets of inside info.

Disappointed he didn't stay until the end of the season. Understand he's probably after more long term security at this stage in his career.
Looked good in fits and spurts but never really shone.
Good luck Aaron

Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
The issue is that he may not play for us again, nor the others.
Half a squad left to play matches in the prem is a disaster.

Came to us with mental issues, we gave him a fresh opporttunity, paid him during lockdown, and when you expect a bit back he says hes off. His work rate was his main asset. Not upset hes going

Another loss for these remaining games?
We will struggle, if they all fail to be available.

Not raving. Giving credit where credit is due.Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 9:46 amCome on Spice, stick up for your man. I recall you raving for a couple of days about the space he created with his “touch” at Bournemouth!
Hes done ok for us in patches, been an excellent pro by all accounts, and I dont think weve ever really played to his strengths (hes not a winger who likes the ball into feet, and our wingers get the ball into feet) so weve probably not seen the best of him. I personally wouldnt have been averse to giving him another year. But hes 33 and had Garlick or Dyche in ordinary times let him go at the end of the season I doubt too many eyebrows would be raised.
Bardsley and Hendrick probably a different matter, probably more valuable to us this season, but as ive says elsewhere it's not entirely a problem of our making this. Hendrick aside, the other out of contract players were ones youd say had probably reached the end of their cycle with Burnley.

I wonder if there are 17 teams who will get 40 points this season?

Dont watch them but I'm told there are a couple of decent lads in the development squad who are worth an opportunity. They might get it.

Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
Not as much as a disaster as it could have been if we were 6 points worse off.
No one envisaged covid19 but Mr Dyche knew there would be a time when the big rebuild would need to happen.
Sadly not much forward planning, and by taking the ageing cheaper option for too many windows eventually will catch up with you, it's not sustainable.
Just be thankful for the miracle turn around early 2019

Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
If you are looking at the worst possible scenario then 17 would need to get 39 or more , since if we lost every game we would almost certainly have an inferior goal difference to anyone who caught us.
Re: Aaron Lennon to leave
The young lads who've been out on loan aren't allowed to play are they? Sure I read that somewhere.
