Shocked there’s been no club statement on this or Bardsley yet.

Or the others, to be fair.
I doubt there will be a club statement until after the contract extension window slams Shut!

I've heard we might be in for as many as six players, although a few are very outside chances.

There are bound to be plenty of decent players out of contract this summer. We will be fine.

Be a massive boost if they did both stay. Not least for the obvious reason that SD clearly wants them to stay, but also 2 extra bodies would be a massive help these next 8 games

I'd be surprised if Hendrick were to sign now. Maybe the current uncertainty might persuade him to take the safe option and stay with us I suppose.

Dyche should of sold him and got his transfer fee back when under contract.

Our club can't be so wasteful with money.
Spot on. Given that he's 28, at the top of his game and cost Burnley what was probably around a club record fee, £10 million, letting the player simply walk out of the door is appalling from a business perspective.

Dyche would never willingly sell Hendrick, he's a Dyche type player.

Hope there's something in this.
Keeping Jeff & Bards might also help heal any rift between SD & Garlick.

I hope he stays, he's certainly grown on me recently, and would cost a lot of dosh to replace him.

Just find it hard to believe he would suddenly have a change of heart after 12 months of negotiations.
Hopefully the covid19 situation and a few extra quid has helped change his mind.

Think of the cost to replace Bardsley and Hendrick, plus wages.

It is imperative that we sign them both

Why is it appalling?
We made a contract offer back in December.
We've had ongoing talks.
You can't make someone sign a new contract.

We've had 4 seasons out of him, he's been a regular player and one of the first names on the team sheet.

He's also had some absolute pelters on here from people who didn't understand the role he was playing that season when he was operating in the No10 role.
Now he's off people are changing their tune about him

The club did what it could, Jeff has since been linked with Celtic and AC Milan....

I don't see it as imperative that we keep an average, 35 year old right back tbh. We should be looking for better, and younger. There's no way that should be beyond us.

They should stop saying players are bought, they are hired for a fixed term. After that its hire them again, or lose them.

If we end up signing Bardsley & Hendrick, and getting rid of the 2 keepers and Lennon, that would be a decent start to the window after all, big if though, until we see their signatures on a contract, i'll withhold my celebrations, you do wonder what's changed in Jeff's case in particular if he's now considering putting pen to paper.

It's an offer and nothing more until we hear otherwise. Best not to assume that pen is anywhere near the paper until we know what's happened.

It is when we have to rely on Lowton who as proved that he is not good enough at Premier league level. We need Bardsley as security to cover Lowton, until we have found someone better than the pair of them

Let's hope so, think we've all resigned to losing him, if he signs in he'll be like a new signing and hopefully be a boost to the team, management and fans.

Big problem the board has is they don't know when, or even if, next season will start and whether or not it will be behind closed doors if it does. They don't want to be handing out ANY contracts until they know the answer to that conundrum.

I'd certainly give Bards another year, whether i'd go further than 12 months i have grave doubts, but in the circumstances he at least gives us solidity and reliability, yes he's 35, but he rarely misses games through injury, and he's well capable of another season at this level.

Longer term we need younger blood at RB, but it's not a priority area if both Bards/Lowton are staying with us, and we can put the funds into other areas of the squad.

RW is an essential upgrade now Lennon has left, and possibly CB if Gibson/Tarks go. Maybe another CM if we're being greedy.

I don’t think next season will be too big of a problem. If it is played behind closed doors, and finishes within a normal schedule, we won’t lose a huge amount as match day sales are a fraction of our revenue. We are loosing money this year due to the TV repayments due to the season not being finished in time.

Even if Jeff does decide to stay we need a new central midfielder to replace Cork. He's done well and been a good servant to the club these last 3 seasons but he needs replacing ASAP.
Another RW as JBG is a crock as is Brady. Sell NcNeil in the summer and we could well be in the sh** there as well coz Brady isn't reliable to be fit enough for a full season.

You make my point for me. We could start the season on time, with fans, or we could go all season playing behind closed doors losing more TV revenue. Who knows what this virus is going to do. Only today at the No. 10 briefing, the medics said it could come back big style in the winter months. It's the uncertainty that is the problem. Burnley can't afford to make big contractual decisions based on hoping things go well. They might not.

For me we need to start thinking a bit longer term. Giving Bardsley another year is just kicking the can down the road for another 12 months.
Plus I think we need to start assuming that Dyche is going in the next 12-24 months. We don't want to lumber our next manager with a massive squad rebuild. Its easier to start doing it gradually now.

So the deadline for registering out of contract players to play beyond June 30th is today.

It doesn't look like we've tied down either Bardsley or Hendrick.

But we won’t loose TV revenue playing behind closed doors. We will only loose the matchday revenue which we know isn’t overly significant for Burnley.

"Lose" = to lose. eg. Blackburn always lose against Burnley

"Loose" = not tight. eg. The trousers were a loose fitting

I wouldn't be too sure about that - one of the factors for rebates during the restart is the lack of fans

No, that could still happen.

For the rest of this current season though, we're painfully short. Thankfully the hard work was done before the season paused and we have accrued enough points.

Thats from this afternoon. There's a slim chance he might yet accept the new contract that has been reportedly offered this evening.

I'd like him to sign but not holding out too much hope.

That article was from midday. As it has been reported that both Bardsley and Hendrick have been in today, there might still be a chance that they both might sign deals.

Well I can’t speak for how others “know these thing”, but I just read the article I was quite clearly talking about. I then remembered what I’d read and posted it on here.
