He comes and visits the club every time Australia play at Old Trafford. I believe he's still a member. He keeps in regular touch with Malcolm Heyworth.

I remember Earls first innings for PCC against Cherry Tree, he scored 110 plus, when he was finally out he said he had never been so cold in his life.

When he came back a few years ago after a few beers in the bar we got a young lad of around 20 (approx. time to when he was here) to go up to him and say Earl Eddings? He says yeah. He says 'I think your my dad'.winsomeyen wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 12:56 pmI remember Earls first innings for PCC against Cherry Tree, he scored 110 plus, when he was finally out he said he had never been so cold in his life.

Re: Cricket quiz
I really doubt that anyone could do that in 10 minutes.
I've gone down the list without actually pressing the start button, and I think I've got about 40 of them, but it's taken me about 30 minutes. That was just to process in my head each date / match / captains etc..
It would take me 10 minutes just to type those that I've got.

33 abysmal i'm sure they'll be obvious when you see them, but the time pressure doesn't help.
If you have the time and inclination Sky have lots of cricket quizzes here https://www.skysports.com/cricket/pundi ... -bermange
And the BBC here

And if your still eager for more just Google, but after all those you'll probably be quizzed out.

I wouldn't have got into double figures, even if it were a multiple choice of 4!

They reckon it's a bad forecast Saturday so nobody will want to sit outsideLocal cricketer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 6:16 pmDisappointed to see that padihams biggest beer garden isn't opening on Saturday
The clubhouse isn't really big enough.
Hopefully week after.

Re: Cricket quiz
Showed one of the Cumbrian clubs on the evening news, and although they can open their bar on Saturday, they can't play yet, so what exactly is the point, i'm aware there's an issue with the ball being a magnet for germs, is that the only reason, they're playing the test, so if they can play, why can't the amateur teams. Not that they'd have been much play Saturday anyway if the forecast is correct.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:07 pmThey reckon it's a bad forecast Saturday so nobody will want to sit outside

Re: Cricket quiz
I don't know what's holding the cricket up now, especially as campsites are allowed to open wash facilities and toilets. Teams getting changed might of been a problem?
The grounds are well catered for people having a beer in the fresh air when the weather's good though.

Re: Cricket quiz
The problem for cricket is unlike most other sports they have a limited window to play, and that window is rapidly closing, already we're into July, and there's not been a ball bowled, it' not a sport that unlike football can be played all year round, at a push you've got about 11 weeks of the season remaining, and that's weather permitting.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:28 pmI don't know what's holding the cricket up now, especially as campsites are allowed to open wash facilities and toilets. I know the first-class game is commencing 1st August, but it doesn't leave long to try and fit the matches in, their best bet in my view is to attempt to have some T20 or other one-day format, probably the former's their best option, even if they can't having fans in attendance, that's something you could cram into a reasonably short window, and possibly complete, i'd write the CC off for this year i'm afraid, you couldn't have a proper format anyhow, so just sack it and start again next year, when hopefully fingers crossed we're approaching normality.
There's good news the weather forecast for the test is set fair, so all being well we'll at least have that to watch.

Re: Cricket quiz
The only problem is with sacking the season off is players and supporters have paid their subs through carry on with their direct debits. Player retention is a massive problem as well.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:43 pmThe problem for cricket is unlike most other sports they have a limited window to play, and that window is rapidly closing, already we're into July, and there's not been a ball bowled, it' not a sport that unlike football can be played all year round, at a push you've got about 11 weeks of the season remaining, and that's weather permitting.

Re: Cricket quiz
I don't disagree but i can't see what other options they have, if they could have started about now, then they might have been able to squeeze a truncated championship in, but August is incredibly late in the English summer to start, and the weather isn't guaranteed to play ball either, so you're looking at 6-7 weeks maximum to fit some games in, and if your going to have 3/4 day games, that doesn't leave you with many fixtures, at least with the T20, you can get some games in, and possibly generate TV revenue, the timing of the lockdown was terrible for all summer sports, but cricket in particular was just gearing up for a new season, and they've had the rug dragged from under their feet, from the ECB'S viewpoint at least it wasn't last summer, when both the WC and the Ashes series would have been ruined, at least if England fulfil their commitments and host the WI series, and possibly the Pakistan series, and perhaps the ODI series against Australia, then they'll gain the money from broadcasters, and they might be able to filter some of this revenue down the game, to enable clubs to survive til next year, it's not ideal but every industry is facing the same problems.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:48 pmThe only problem is with sacking the season off is players and supporters have paid their subs through carry on with their direct debits.
