We can't be far off some threatening legal action against the club like the last season ticket refund pledge.

Some must be due a good few grand rather than under £100 back with the comments.

A good few grand - for 4 games! :D :D

No. What you have posted is incorrect and could be considered libel.
Then I suggest you go and ask - I'm not lying , I went down there and was told that by a member of staff - even giving me figures of 7,000+

depends when you asked - I'm not suggesting someone has left you out of the loop.

But I asked simply when my refund would be with me and told that, I don't see the issue with it being common knowledge if the club are telling people that,

No you weren’t told that and you will stop posting it on this board because it is untrue and therefore subject to libel law.

How can you just call someone a liar, I am simply giving information that I have just been told by a BFC employee in the ticket office.

No idea if it would or not - not sure of the legalities around something like that.

Either way, as long as I get my money.

Still no sign.

Pi55 poor. Absolutely Pi55 poor. Especially when we continue to pay for next season which is unlikely to start on time or even have us attend.

YES I know they are two seperate things. But knowing what we know now, most of us wouldnt have continued paying. And it leaves a sour taste for most when it comes to next time the club needs the fans financial help.

Trivial amount to some is significant to others. Especially when most have far more pressing priorities. And many have been furloughed or worse.

It shouldn’t take so long to sort out refunds.

With regard 20/21 though, as there have been no decisions on next season, I can see why the club continues to take DD payments.

I suspect, but don’t know, that plenty other clubs that offer a DD facility are also continuing to take payments, in preparation for what they hope will be at least a part season with crowds.

The whole idea of DD is to spread payments, making it easier to budget and / or for those that perhaps can’t pay in one lump sum.

As it stands the DD’s are paying for something that may happen, if it doesn’t, further refunds will be provided. If some are in difficulty, they could always cancel the Direct Debit.

Stopping all DD’s now (and what about those that have already paid in full) would be a far more difficult process to administer.

I’m not sure what we get from ST sales but if it’s circa 5 million £ that’s a big old chunk of what we’re all clamouring to be given to Dyche in an imminent transfer window.

I think all instalments for this season's tickets had been paid when the announcement was made that the remainder of this season's games would be played with no fans in attendance.

I've just checked again, it's still not in.

Dont know how they are still taking next years ticket money when we wont be attending the games just yet.

Like I said on another thread, I cant get to the ground to the ticket office due to work circumstances and they simply will not pick up the phone. I've put my DD for next season on hold until we have more clarity not just from Burnley but from our tin pot government.

You need to watch that Fez.
Did you sort out putting your DD on hold with BFC?

Unfortunately we won't be seeing football watched by in stadium spectators this calendar year, if at all next season.

I would love to be wrong.

It just makes so much sense now to extend the DD pause for next season. Yes if it starts up in September then I will happily pay the extra for the pro rata 12 months but I am now kicking myself for not pausing my DD, but didn't as I feared losing my 3 seats.

Wasn't the cut-off point for applying for refunds something like the 3rd July? I'd be surprised if they started processing beforehand if so.

This sentence was in the article on the official website back in May:

'We aim to process all requested refunds by Friday 26th June.'

30th June.

Is it not possible to start issuing refunds to people before the cut-off point?

If they had just arranged a refund for everyone, instead of p!ssballing about trying to keep
the money for themselves in one of two ways, then it would have been a relatively straight
forward process.

Greed/avarice is a horrible trait.

I mean next season. We have now paid 3 instalments for next year. All of which were post lockdown - 25 April, 25 May, 25 June.

Ive no issue continuing to pay. But the club need to realise its two way.

If its going to take until August or whenever to sort it - just be honest. I imagine some people had budgeted to receive that money in June as promised. THREE MONTHS after games were suspended and THREE MONTHS after last seasons payments ended.

I am not sure. I know lots of people who have cancelled. Some at the start some midway through some about to do it.

Because of a lack of foresight this will make it even harder for the club to administer than just pausing it at the start.

If it was any other business you would be concerned thinking they had cash flow problems. They don’t and they are a multi million pound business paying millions in wages. It shouldnt take this long to sort out. They are happy to still collect money quickly. It looks at best amateur and at worst disrespectful to long supporting fans. I don’t need it but some fans really might at the moment.

I'm not going to lie I could really do with the money this month. I'm not surprised though that they are making a complete hash of things again. If they state a date in the original article it should be adhered to. As said further up **** poor.

That’s where they made the big mistake, publishing a date, albeit one where they aimed to have made the payments, when there was clearly no chance of that being the case.

Collecting existed direct debits is obviously an automated process so it’s not a fair comparison to processing the refunds for last season - they are completely different processes with the last one being a manual one.

That’s not me saying that the club should be still taking direct debits - but that’s a more complex debate too as they don’t know what is happening next season. I can’t find any examples of clubs doing anything different to Burnley in this area.

As for the refunds people are assuming that they know what the process is and how long it takes etc - I know from experience it may not be as simple as people think. There is likely to be some kind of validation included and potentially reconciliation and authorisation etc

Again that’s me not sticking up for the club either because they got it wrong in telling people a date without knowing how long the work would take.

I don’t think there is any ulterior motive or hanging on to the money angle - and neither do I think it’s to do with cashflow. It’s purely operational and underestimating the amount of work involved.

As for taking 3 months - that’s not correct either. Like most clubs we waited for the announcement. Even though 2 or 3 clubs took the decision to refund before Burnley did we were by no means whatsoever the slowest.

Everybody was offered this option, as well as pausing it or paying it. For those who are paying and happy to continue paying isn't your business to tell them they shouldn't be, but had they paused it all then a few months down the line crowds resumed and people had to pay all in 1 go you would be the first to whinge.

That's absolutely spot on - the option was there. I chose not to take it and continue paying because it is easier for me to be able to budget. At some point I'm likely to get a refund on that because I'm not going to be able to go to all the games next season I wouldn't have thought.

But this is something different to the subject of this thread which is the refunding of money for previously paid for tickets, for games that we have not been permitted to attend during this 2019/20 season. To be honest, I think the club got it just about right other than chucking that date of 26th June out. It is appalling PR from the club is that, and the people now dealing with the refunds, the ticket office initially and then the finance department who will be making the refunds, are suffering because of it.

Not to pause it but there was the option given to cancel the payments - the problem would then have been the need to pay for it should the season then start with crowds.

Agreed, I only replied due to the poster with multiple accounts telling people what they should have happened to them rather than being given a choice.

There was an option to “pause it” ?
Are you sure ?

Are you thinking of sky sports ?!!!

No, you could stop payments but retain your seat which seems some feared giving up but then would have to pay upfront.

They was a option to stop paying but no clarity on it..would we have lost our current seats?..regarding refunds dont see how people are still trying to defend the club they got it wrong should of given themselves more breathing space with the dates..

I think we've all said they made a big error in putting out that date - no one is defending that - but the actual process they have gone through I can't see why anyone should have a problem with it.

With respect claretony there was no option to pause the dd’s . You could cancel but not pause them.

If you cancelled it implied you would then have to pay in full upfront for season 20/21 and as others have said there was no guarantee that your same seat would be available.

We were able to pause our Sky , BT, Racing TV, and dental treatment payments so other businesses realised the situation and managed to amend their systems.

We had 5 tickets we are awaiting refunds on for this season and have cancelled the dd’s for next season.

Genuine question - is that correct ? You could cancel your direct debit but still retain your seat ?
If that is the case then I can’t remember seeing this. I think quite a lot more people would have taken this option if it is correct and was made clear.
(Btw it was you who said it could be paused which I knew was not possible to do nor an option)

I used the word paused as this method allowed you to retain your seat.
