Why can't they do both?
20 / 20 is generally played in the evening isn't it?
Start in a fortnight and include a couple of double-headers on a weekend and 11 games would take you to Sept 12th.
Round-robin 20 /20 competition on some of the Fridays when it's not a double header.
Scrap the Worsley Cup because a lot of teams are out of it after the first round and all teams need to play cricket now.
I think they've already scrapped the Worsley cup for this year. Running out of daylight might be an issue for Friday night games in a few weeks.

I’m with you on this. It would be bizarre if the LL just sanctioned a 20/20 comp. a shortened league season could still be played.

Hopefully clubs will get decent crowds in with people being outside and being able to have a few beers.

Players can bring a packed lunch, or the ladies in the tea room can make 20 odd packed lunches up instead of a buffet. That problems easily solved.
But only after they've finished the washing, cleaning and cooking at home first, right?

Wow.....

Well , it was actually Michael Vaughan who challenged their position - "Stop being Muppets" - yesterday, but it's the same principle.

Lancs League will be making an announcement, possibly today, in respect of their restart.

Dependent on what the formal government guidance says, I’d expect a number of mini leagues, 50 over games, with the winner of each mini league entering a semi final.

Hopefully some T20 alongside it.

You're joking aren't you?

Look what happens when the Government change their mind. They don't get credit for it. It's all about a 'U turn', back tracking etc.. All the opposition and media will do is exploit it as a weakness - 'the Government doesn't know what its doing' etc..

Bowlers handling the cricket ball is a very intimate action. It will alter the game if you use gloves, sanitizers or anything else that affects the handling and movement of the ball through the air. That's why they rub the ball in their groin, and in some cases do illegal stuff like plucking the thread or scuffing it generally.

Commencing 2nd August is the Lancs League in a 4 group format, yet to be announced who's in each group. Will then have semi finals early September I believe.40 over matches, being played on Sundays with 1pm start.

Are they allowing pro's?

English or local based?

I don't know is the answer, don't see the point in any club employing a pro for a few weeks. I would expect it's amateur only this season and may even be next as clubs just can't afford extra expense after losing so much money..

The Home office/ECB are already trying to do away with overseas pro's. If clubs choose not to employ them next season I fear they won't have an argument against them when they want to re-introduce them.

Also I don't know how clubs will get out of contracts with pro's if they are here and available to work?

The contracts with the pro's seem pretty flimsy, the way plans seem to change at the drop of a hat. I don't think there'll be anything too binding.

Exactly. The same way they arrive late and then whizz off back to their States, Provincial teams or whatever at the drop of a hat leaving clubs in awkward positions. The contract for our Pro this year was mutually terminated right at the start of lock down. I can't see there being too many Pro's who've been sat in England waiting for the season to commence.

The likes of Ocky at Burnley signed a 3yr deal and lives local I believe.

Plus I can't see people wanting to pay a fiver to watch amateur only cricket?

I'm sure it will all work out though.

The ECB published a 5 stage roadmap for the restart of cricket. We are currently at stage 3, practice in groups of up to 6. Stage 4 is adaptive cricket, shorter format, maybe less than 11 players. I would be surprised if we moved straight to stage 5, full games. In fact I would be surprised if we saw that this season. My guess is 8 aside T20 to start with, but we will see.

As far as I’m aware clubs won’t have a choice next season.

Overseas pros will only be allowed in ECB Premier Leagues which the Lancashire League isn’t so unless they become one which rumours on twitter suggest may be happening no overseas pro’s will be allowed at all.

Think that there are some clubs with pros. Five I think. They will be in a group together. If any team ends up playing a club with a pro in the semis or the final then they will be able to bring in a pro.

I know they were trying to do away with them but I don't know how far they have got with it or if there is an appeal?

The cricket leagues will certainly be of a poorer standard for it.

The Ribb league clubs will try and take the best players from the Lancs league if they can match their wages?

Counties vote to play red and white ball cricket when season starts on 1 Augusthttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/53323338

Not a unanimous decision though, many wanted only white ball games for the finance, i didn't think it would be a simple vote.

No details on fixtures yet, or whether fans will be allowed later in the season, but i suppose some cricket is better than none.

Burnley might get a bigger crowd on than Lowerhouse if there are pro's on show?

Especially if Blakey puts on happy hour.

The Ribb league have done away with pro's for this season.
Big boost for Clitheroe getting Jack Dewhurst back as an amateur from Padiham pro'ing duties.

Lowerhouse in the same group as Tod.

I hope we don’t see the same allegations as last season claiming Tod were taking advantage of the “house” travelling masses by continuing to charge for entry to the ground for longer than permitted.

I played on Saturday. Everyone followed the control measures for the various risk assessments etc.
The game played out seamlessly.

You turn up in your whites and go home in them.
Sort your own food out.
Keep a safe distance when fielding/watching.
Clubhouse one in one out etc.
Sanitiser everywhere.
No unnecessary touching of the ball.
Sanitiser break every 3rd. over.
Watch where you stand when not facing.

Why do people make a big fuss over a common sense approach?

He was made redundant or released from contract in March when the lockdown started. Before cricket season started.

Transfers to Lancashire league clubs have a bit of scrutiny before getting approval according to the website. You always see 'Longside Lenny moves to Nelson subject to league approval'.

Anyone who stops pro-ing for whatever reason can automatically return to the club they played for as an amateur. Which is as it should be.
