Relegation fight

Post by conyoviejo » Sun Jul 12, 2020 8:59 pm

Looks like it could go down to the last games after today's results. West Ham are back in the mix again now.. Their game against Watford is massive now.. :D

I'd prefer Bournemouth stay up and West Ham go down with Villa. That would be immense.

Until today I was convinced it was Norwich, Villa and B’mouth. After today’s results, I’m glad I don’t support W Ham or Watford.

The only reason I'd like Bournemouth to go down is that if SD stays he becomes the PL's longest serving manager for one club. Otherwise I'd rather it was Villa , Watford or West Ham, and I'm not really fussed which of them TBH.

Bournemouth need at least more 6 point I think. Villa at least 7.

Neither have shown the kind of form required for that all season and to make matters worse for them, they still have some tough games. Bournemouth are at Man City next and then play in-form Southampton in a derby.

I don't know why but I feel sorry for Bournemouth as I think they are still likely to go
down unless either West Ham or Watford collapse and get few or no points from their last three.
Bournemouth would need to win at least 2 of its last 3 games if not more.
Really would prefer West Ham or Watford to go down.
Probably because Eddie did manage us and brought in some decent players
and started the ball rolling for better things to come.

Villa and Bournemouth winning today has really put the cat among the pigeons! From my POV it's refreshing to sit back and watch this relegation battle play out without worrying how results affect our status.

Villa I don’t mind so much, they have spent their time out of the top flight.
Would love to see 2 of the following West Ham, Brighton Watford go down.
I also wouldn’t liked Norwich to stay, they have some good history or rebuilding and coming back.

My preferences are about BFC's future. Villa are owned by a serious Egyptian family who will stay long term. Sadly I would like too see them go down. West Ham should go because; who their owners are, their almost free ground and sod the streets they came from, Lady muck - how does she survive? and there can only be one claret and blue in the top league.

Relegation fights are always fun when your own team isn't involved 😉

I know loads of Villa fans and they were giving it the big one before a ball was kicked, top 6 for them and we are dead certs for relegation, I hope they take it to the last day and implode losing by 5 or 6 goals !

I don't want them to go to the last day. I want them down and for Bournemouth to have a chance on the last day instead.

Villa and West Ham dropping would be superb.

Villa v WH on the last day with both teams already relegated would be amusing! Can’t see it though

Or Villa already down, and then beating WH to take them down with them!

As they play each other on the last day, it's hard to see both dropping, not impossible both could, but it'd take some bizarre results for that to happen.

West Ham have Watford and Villa at home, now if that was BFC in their position, i'd fancy having a 3 point cushion to the bottom 3 and those 2 fixtures looming. I don''t expect them to get anything at OT.

Watford are the ones that'll be looking over their shoulder now, they visit West Ham next, and if they get nothing from that, then their last 2 are City (H) Arsenal (a) they might struggle to get much out of those, so that Hammers game is vital to them.

Bournemouth have a nice easy trip to City next, their last 2 games are winnable Southampton (H) Everton (a). assuming they pick nothing up at the Etihad.

Even with that win yesterday, Villa have an uphill struggle Everton (a)Arsenal (H) West Ham (a) if they can take it to a last day shoot-out they'll be doing well.

Brighton could get dragged in, but it's incredibly unlikely, and their last 3 fixtures are pretty favourable Southampton (a) Newcastle (H) Burnley (A) it's difficult not to see them picking up something out of those, and even with 36 points, they're probably OK now.

There's a good reason for any of the club's to go down really.

Bournemouth - the less of the evils in this dogfight. Still been spending ridiculous amounts of money though and flouted FFP rules.

Villa - similar to Bournemouth, and went way too far in the transfer market. Have fans with delusions of wanting pochetino (sp?). Also grealish is a knob.

Watford - have been walking the tightrope for a number of years undermining stability by relentlessly hiring and firing managers, it was only matter of time before they had a season like this. Also we might hear less of Deeney too who is seriously annoying.

West ham - toss pot deluded fans, toss pot owners and using taxpayers money to have a shiny new stadium which is ****. Morally bankrupt club.

Brighton - these are the ones I want to see relegated the most. Pathetic little club syndrome with a huge chip on its shoulder. They constantly whine about everything. Also they have zero history and their fans are arrogant beyond belief. I'd sooner have Leeds.

Bournemouth's GD could take a pounding away to City, if it's yet another 5-0 win, which could end up being the deciding factor. Bournemouth will need a point more than Watford/West Ham to stay up, meaning at least 4.

So if we give Bournemouth 6 points maximum, that means WH and Watford need 3 points from their remaining 3 games to finish ahead of them. But look at Watford's games - West Ham, City, Arsenal. It's realistic for them to not pick up any more points and finish on 34.

We do well against Eddie Howe so sooner they stay up.

West Ham have Watford villa and man ure to play. It is quite possible they could lose to Watford and villa, if that happened West Ham are right back in the mix

You make valid points, unfortunately 5 can't be relegated, i'd rather Bournemouth stayed up, they are more likely to be in the mix next season again, whereas Villa and West Ham can surely only improve, and the Cherries provide us with 6 helpful points every season.

The best result from a BFC POV is Bournemouth and Watford surviving at the expense of Villa and West Ham, i can't see Brighton going down, that injury-time winner against Arsenal is looking vital for them now.

Also it'd be funny watching how Villa and the Hammers deal with the FFP rules if they're dumped into the Championship.

I've said all along my preference would be for Bournemouth to stay up, my grandparents were from there so I spent most of my summers growing up down there but more importantly we do well against them. I would much prefer Villa and West Ham to go, I just don't see it
